Imperial Mission

The Seat of Power

With the city crippled by the blackout and critical points now under Old Empire control, the time has come to move on the seat of power on Null. Weechee and his team are tasked with breaching and taking control of the primary Government building. The building's security is partially disabled due to the blackout, but unlike many of the other areas of the city, backup generators have kept some of the systems operational.

With his team poised near the building, they must breach the remaining systems and size control of building security stations and ground floor offices to lock down the building. Speed is of the essence here, there can be no escape and detection would be problematic. Work quickly, quietly and efficiently. Nobody in or out once the offices are breached.

OK guys. Friendly reminder that all OPEN/PVP threads that do not receive PC opposition within 72 hours of posting will be changed to ASK and become dice opposition. Also please note that I would like this plot to move quickly. Players are encouraged to try and post as quickly as they can and if a player delays longer than 48 hours they will be skipped, regardless of the situation.

Weechee's nose twitched as a gust of cold air rustled his whiskers.

They were clustered in an alley near their target. The streets of the city were dark, lights were out across the city and the Sith thrived in the darkness. The Force around him was ripe with fear and concern; exactly what he had come to expect from easy prey.

The two Sith and the massive droid that had accompanied them had been having a conversation about how to infiltrate the building, with the security systems still partially active. All eyes had fallen to a small ventilation grate by one of the lesser used side doors. It was easily Ewok sized and they just so happened to have one with them. Weechee's nose twitched in disgust; the thing smelled of clean, sanitized air...not the must of life and death. It was a human construction.

"Fine." he chattered angrily, the translator droid at his neck translating softly for the others. With a huff and a twitch of his whiskers, he snapped his secondary lightsaber from the hook on his belt, igniting it quickly and, for an instant lighting the area with a bronze glow. In the darkness, to the security cameras it would look as though a speeder had passed the entrance to the alley. With a single swift motion he removed the grate from it's bolts and, as quickly as it had come, the bronze light vanished.

Muttering angrily to himself, he clambered into the ventilation duct, looking for an exit near the side door. He found one quickly; he could see an office below illuminated by dim emergency lights. With yet more angry muttering, he punched the grate out of the way and dropped down into the empty room. A few moments was all it took, the hallways were abandonded down here and so dim that his dark fur and skins blended seamlessly into the gloom. He reached the exit he was looking for and slapped the release pad. With hiss of hydraulics, the door slid open revealing nothing but the inky darkness of the alley beyond.

They were in.

Artarion had not known what to think when he discovered that one of his comrades for this mission would be an Ewok. First, he had needed to look up on his data pad to see what exactly an Ewok was. He had first taken in the sight of the creature and thought it must be a joke. Surely one of the Darth’s was testing him or playing a prank on him. The sight of the lightsabers on the creatures belt however changed that mentality immediately. One did not simply give those away which meant the creature had earned them. Appearances could be deceiving as Artarion knew, he would have to watch this one closely.

The city they were attacking was dark, the other mission to take out the power had been a success. Unfortunately, the building they were assigned with locking down had backup generators that had started almost immediately. This posed a problem as they needed a stealthy way into the target. As luck would have it, they had discovered a small ventilation grate on the side of the building in an alley. After some discussion between the three cohorts, the Ewok saw reason and entered the shaft with a flash of a saber and a scurrying of furred legs and feet.

Artarion dropped into the Force to augment his strength and picked up the grate, replacing it so that a wandering sentry or law enforcement, would not trip over it and discover their mode of entry. Ensuring that those tracks were covered, he moved to the side door that was the Ewok infiltrators target. After several hard moments, the door opened on its hydraulic supports. The Ewok stood silhouetted in the pale light of the interior hallway. Artarion smiled and entered the building beside the Ewok saying, “Now was that so bad?” He waited until their entire group was inside the building before adding, “Good work and a good start.”

Artarion pulled out a small data pad from a pocket inside his armor and looked at it. The Sith Warrior had his usual armor and dual lightsabers, as well as his blaster pistol backup and grenades in a bandolier. He was taking no chances with this mission as it was his first working with both the two agents accompanying him. He certainly did not want the mission to fail due to his not being prepared. He looked over the data pad and brought up the map of the building he had downloaded from the city files earlier that day. “Security control, three levels up, far East corner. Should be a stairwell just around that corner but also a guard station.” Artarion pointed to a corner leading to a passage to which went right off the main passage they stood in, approximately 10 meters from their current position.

"GOLIATH ONLINE"

XT96 had been dispatched to provide security detail for the two sith agents that were assigned to this mission. The galaxy was at war and the Old Empire was eager to utilize its new death dealing machines in combat. The hulking battle droid was a walking mammoth of armament and waited patiently until the large, hydraulic powered door was opened. The automated terminator was armed with his usual gear including the left handed assault cannon as well as a Javelin light repeater, single handed in the right palm. Two fragmentation grenades were strapped to holsters at its waist. Moving forwards into the building, Droid utilized its built in scanners to pick up on the location of the Security control room that Artarion had called out, acknowledging and confirming the location as valid. Staircases wouldn't do well for the Droid, as it allowed its smaller comrades to navigate to the side while it continued forwards onto what appeared as a large elevator platform.

Weechee had no words for the mechanical construction that was part of his team. He hadn't expected a droid to be a full fledged Imperial operative and he still didn't know what to make of it. What he did know was that the droid made a terrific amount of noise when it walked. Every step was like the building was shaking and its servos hissed and whirred. Any chance they had of taking the security offices by stealth were well and truly gone.

Weechee smelled them coming before they arrived. The sharp scent of terrified humans filled his nostrils. "They're coming!" He screeched. Human guards, dressed in the security uniforms of the government buildings began pouring down the corridor. Weechee counted eight of them as his lightsabers hissed to life and he began deflecting blaster bolts. Some zingged over his head and others he managed to return, though they missed their marks.

Fighting in the hallway wasn't idea. They needed more space and Weechee knew it. The Force bent and flexed around him as his tiny body filled with it. He called to a door behind the rushing guards as they took up positions behind chairs and cleaning carts. He wanted to hit them from behind but the Force failed him. The door came free, certainly...but it turned out to be the door to the security guards' break room.

Five more piled into the hallway and the door slammed uselessly into the opposite side of the hall. It was at that moment that one clever guard took a quick shot at Weechee's exposed hand he was using to guide the Force. It missed the paw, thankfully, but hit him squarely in his unprotected shoulder. The pain was unbelievable. His offhand lightsaber dropped from his hand and the Ewok screamed in pain and rage. He hit the floor and rolled behind a trash bin to recover himself. With his shoulder crispy and useless, fighting directly was going to be tough.

13/13 enemies remaining.
Weechee has lost the use of his left arm and is pretty badly hurt.

Artarion was also less than thrilled with the huge droid and its lack of stealth. There would definitely be a word with whatever low-level bean counter who had planned this mission. The word would be pain and the bean counter would understand the full extent of its meaning. The speed at which the entire affair had gone pear shaped really mystified the Sith.

Feeling the Force well beside him, he saw Weechee draw in power and then release it at the door behind the attacking guards. One of them had closed the distance and started to raise a pistol and shoot at the ewok. Artarion charged the guard, twin lightsabers igniting as one and rising in a classic scissors strike, cutting the man’s arm wielding the pistol off. This effectively put that guard out of the fight as he went down holding the stump of his arm.

As the door at the other end of the room came open, Artarion looked on in undisguised disbelief. The room contained several more guards who decided to join the fray. Very quickly Artarion jumped across the distance to the stairs up, using the low rail and wall along the staircase as cover from the new arrivals. Artarion was clear of the main battle in the hallway but he had been effectively cut off from the other two members of his team. He was putting all of his eggs in the droid tank basket, they had brought it with them on orders, now it was time for it to earn its paycheck.

Looking back at the fracas in the hallway, Artarion shouted to the droid “Goliath! Directive 0119! Seek and Destroy!” The directive was one he had been taught on Korriban for working with the various war droids employed by the Old Empire. It sent a direct fire mission to the brain of the droid to neutralize all hostiles in the area. Artarion knew the code was good, it had been less than a year since it had been implemented. The droid would do its work and show them why he had been included on the mission or Artarion would see it scrapped, personally if need be.

"Directive 0119!....Confirmed"

That was all that was needed to be said as the order meant doom for all hostile combatants. LED lighting across the massive combat droid's chassis flickered to a ghastly crimson as it reached deep into its programming and activated the hidden Terminator protocol. Suddenly, XT96 went on a sprint, speeding across the hall and hurling two large boxes towards the ground, one on each side of its body to provide ample cover. Strapping the Javelin for a moment, it reached backwards pulling out a fragmentation grenade and hurled in into the mass of guards that lined the initial, narrow hallway. Explosion went off as shrapnel shredded limbs and tore into unarmored portions of the soldiers, inflicting moderate injuries. One guard was caught nearly in the midst of its epicenter, his body ripped apart at the torso as internals were incinerated.

Grabbing the Javelin light repeater, the Droid single handed wielded the weapon while simultaneously activated dual targeting schematics in its head's HUD display. Left arm cannon blaster began targeting enemies with semi-automatic fire while the Javelin in the right hand laid down heavy automatic fire upon hostile combatants. Bolts sprayed violently into the hallway, shredding what was remaining of the injured guards. Three further soldiers were executed efficiently while two seemingly managed to avoid fire and crawl underneath cover.

So it seemed the annoying, massive, reeking, emotionless mechanical construct they had brought with them had a purpose after all. Weechee was impressed with the droid's efficiency at dealing death. Had it been a living being, the young Ewok would have feared for his spot as an apex predator. This simply would not do.

Though his arm was painful beyond measure and all but useless Weechee rose from his position behind the bin and as he did so, the Force rose with him. Fueled by his rage at having been knocked from his place at the top and by the throbbing agony of his arm he threw all of it at the security forces.

The Force exploded from his tiny body with a raw savagery that was rip with crushing and punishing intent. The wave rolled down the hallway, everything in its path save for the droid was picked up and hurled at the guards. Then it reached the guards themselves. The bodies of the fallen were picked up and thrown without care or mercy at their living brethren. Humans dropped, felled and rendered unconscious by the bodies of their dead comrades. It was a horrifying scene to behold.

The effort though took much out of Weechee. His vision greyed and he all but fell back behind his trash bin. It had been too much and he knew it. He struggled to maintain consciousness, hoping that they could finish them off in a timely matter and give him the moment he so desperately needed to recover and tend to his wounds.

The battle was not going exactly as Artarion had hoped. The first few engagements of the mission had been a haphazard assortment of failure and reprisal. It was certainly chaotic which called to the inner Sith within Artarion, but its chaos underlies their respective failures thus far. He could no longer see the Ewok and hoped that the other Sith could bring up the slack he himself had caused in the early stages of the battle.

Artarion was on the stairwell and out of the line of fire of the engagement. He watched as the droid showed that it actually could be useful. Mutliple guards went down and then he felt the Force being drawn roughly into a focus to his side. As it was the side of his compatriots, he was not too concerned. As the force wave exploded out from that side of the room, Artarion lept high into the air, the Force augmenting his leap. He landed on top of the GOLIATH droid’s head for only a heartbeat before he lept into battle.

Rising above the battle, he raised both of his sabers into an X before him. Landing among the five remaining guards, he separated the X made by his sabers in a rapid outward motion. Artarion’s attack cut two of the guards neatly across the abdomen. The suddenness of his attack stunned the other three guards and its momentum, augmented by the force, tossed several of the unconscious guards away from him. Artarion was squatting on the ground in front of the final three guards, he was raising his guard to attempt to defend himself from the retaliation of the guards.

XT96 simply stood there as Artarion used its head as a stepping platform to descend into the guards and wreck havoc. The terminator droid continued with its schematic programming as it advanced upon those that remained standing. Lifting the Javelin repeater up, it unleashed a volley of rapid, automatic fire on two guards that appeared to be in preparation to engage Artarion. Unable to defend from both angles they attempted an escape but the automatic fire laid down too heavily upon them. Bolts shredded armor and limbs asunder, causing the smell of burnt flesh to emanate in the narrow corridor.

As the ammunition ran dry on the repeater, the battle droid tossed the weapon down and shrugged off some blaster fire that targeted its chest chassis. Robotic arm reached forwards and grabbed a hold of the soldier's head. In an act of pure fiendish cruelty, the droid utilized its machinery and incredible hydraulic strength to tear the human's head from his torso. Blood splattered around as the droid hurled both pieces towards the fray with the smoldered corpses of his allies.

It was over, the Droid turned slowly to the Ewok and Artarion.

Weechee stumbled forward, his lightsaber hissing to life in his good hand.

He was a bit intimidated by the droid and it's brutally efficient actions but he didn't let it show. The Ewok stalked down the hallway like an offended cat, his lightsabers flashing and slashing as he coldly dispatched the unconscious guards. He growled and hissed in pain as he finished off the last one. At the end of the hallway, their target just up a flight of stairs, Weechee paused and pulled a tube of bacta-numb from his belt pouch. He sprayed a liberal quantity over his burn and felt the area immediately start to improve.

He flexed his fingers experimentally and discovered he could move them freely and without pain. It would need attention later but for now it would be fine. "Come! We have dispatched most of the security in this section. We need to lockdown the building and take the security hub." Weechee called to his companions and headed up the stairs.

Thanks to their fireworks downstairs, the guards in the security control room had left to join the fight but they had shut the door behind them. Weechee slapped the access pad. Nothing happened. Enraged, he ignited his lightsabers once again and sliced the door from its hinges and stalked into the room. Rows of monitors and controls lined the walls and desks but much of it was out of Weechee's reach. He tried not to look embarassed but he had to admit, with no boxes to stand on he couldn't be sure that if he climbed onto a table he wouldn't accidentally hit something bad.

"Lock us down!" He chittered, faking interest in his blaster burn. "I must attend to this wound before I move on the Governor!"

Artarion sprinted up the stairs, following the Ewok who was apparently much faster than his furry little legs might make one assume. He took the steps two at a time which still put him at the door to the control room a full second after WeeChee. He paused as the Ewok cut their way into the room, amused at the lack of finesse and use of brute force in the face of adversity from the small creature. Artarion was taken at once by the thought that the Ewok would have made an excellent addition to his father’s gladiator stable.

Upon entering the room, Artation looked around at the security consoles and monitors. All of the guards had emptied into the melee which allowed for a lack of resistance at the target room. Quickly Artarion started to study the various consoles as he heard WeeChee shouting for the lock down. A small smirk crossed his face as he watched the Ewok pretend to be involved with his blaster wound. So there were things that the mighty warrior could not do.

The security consoles were standard throughout the galaxy and were of a similar model to the ones Artarion had in his father’s gladiatorial compound on Rattatak. In moments he had locked the building down and ensured that the path to the Governor was open and they would not be interrupted. After tapping a few last buttons to ensure the lock down, Artarion stepped back with a flourish and pointed to the monitor in a grand gesture. “The lock down is complete. We are free to move upon our main target.”

Turning he stalked from the room, heading in the direction of the security chamber on the first floor. From there they could respond to any new threats in the building proper. He had left WeeChee in the main room to observe the cameras and alert them to any new threats. It also allowed the Ewok to tend to his hurt shoulder.
