Site lore

The Shadow Enclave is the Mandalorian outpost established on Umbara as part of their initiative on the shadowy planet. Originally a cave system, it has since been cleared out and moved into by the Mandalorians who took part in the operation, clearing out and setting up rooms inside the mountain in order to have a defensible and hidden outpost on a planet already mired in perpetual darkness.

Description

The Shadow Enclave is built into a mountain, accessible only through either a cave system at the base guarded by the natural environment, or via hangar system on the other side of the cave network. Leandros and Reyna Solus secured the blessing of the Umbaran government to establish the outpost and, with the help of the natives, keep it as secure and hidden as possible. The only people who know of its location are Mandalorians and the Umbaran government, since a liaison between the two people is permanently stationed within the enclave itself.

It is built to last, with the majority of the outpost being within a mountain, and outfitted to meet all of the basic needs of wandering Mandalorians using it as a staging ground for raids into Imperial territory or on their journeys. It allows for the Mandalorians to hone their skills in low-light conditions, as well as test themselves in the hostile forests around the base itself. Attacking the base would be foolhardy, for it is concealed by the environment, protected by both the Umbarans and Mandalorians, and built into the side of a mountain, making it difficult to blow up.

The interior of it has been reinforced with durasteel so as to prevent cave-ins and to keep the area generally-tidy, since cave networks tend to be rather dirty. As it is built into the side of a mountain, orbital bombardment would require annihilating the mountain above, if they were able to pinpoint its exact location. The thick stone and steel help prevent all but the most-powerful of scanners to detect life inside, and even then it would likely not be very accurate.

Exterior

Surrounding Area: The exterior of the enclave is dark, forested, and generally secluded. The enclave itself was built into a mountain, and thus is not immediately visible to those looking around the area, especially with the foliage. The closest city is quite a ways away from the enclave, though there is an Umbaran liaison attached to the outpost. The darkness and surrounding landscape offers excellent concealment, while the mountain offers great cover.

Hangar: The hangar is separate from the base itself. It is located on the other side of the mountain, both for tactical and environmental concerns. It means that people trailing the ship docking would not immediately notice the base, though it was also chosen because the area was spacious enough to allow for ship movement in and out of the hangar. It connects to the base via a tunnel network through the mountain. It can hold up to three light freighters or similar craft, as well as a few land vehicles. Additionally, it offers refueling services and methods to charge personal droids. The fuel stores are not enough to supply a fleet, but can fill up a ship in need of a top-off or in an emergency.

Comms Array: Though not connected to the base itself, Leandros and a team of two others assaulted and captured a communications array from a band of Umbaran pirates, seizing it for the Mandalorians. It is an underground bunker with three rooms on three sides of a center chamber, as well as has maintenance tunnels connecting each of the rooms. It allows for communications between other Mandalorian outposts, as well as communications with the outside world.

Interior

Common Areas: The common areas of the enclave are furnished with basic amenities capable of supporting about ten inhabitants for at least two weeks’ time. There is a single kitchen, a living area, recreational room, and a weightlifting room.

Living Quarters: The living quarters are spartan in nature and compartmentalized in order to maximize space. Designed for function over form, it has just enough room for one person per compartment, storage for their gear, and amenities for hygiene. Since there are so many people coming through on a rotational basis, it does not come very personalized, though nothing is stopping the inhabitant from making it a little more like home.

Supply Stores: The base is multi-leveled, with the lower level containing the majority of the necessities that keep the base running. It has anywhere from food stores to the power generators that keep the place running for up to two months at a time. This means that supplies must be brought in on a consistent basis, though with the favor of the Umbaran people secured, doing so is not very difficult for the enclave.

Intent

To provide the Mandalorian faction with a hidden outpost on Umbara on the edge of IR space. It allows for staging raids deeper into their territory without having to retreat all the way back to Mandalorian space. Since the intent of the plot was to plant roots on Umbara with the favor of the government, Leandros would ensure that the Umbarans would facilitate its construction. It was cleared from a cave in this thread and is a part of this mission pack. The pack is under ten posts from completion, so I figured it was time to post the potential enclave.
