48 Hour Posting Limit - Dice Rolls to Be Decided.
Nar Shaddaa, this place was just a more neon and toxic filled Coruscant as far as Kenii was concerned. The neon was cool, and the general seediness did bring a sense of liveliness that Coruscant sometimes seemed to lack, regardless anything would be great when he was with Myrna. The two of them had skipped ship on the Jewel of the Core Worlds and were off exploring the galaxy in an attempt to scrape some sort of foolish living together.

His father wasn't happy, but his Mother was optimistic that he could achieve his dreams that he yearned for so bad. He sat along the outskirts of the meet, coveralls rolled down to reveal a stained and greasy white undershirt, head first into the engine system of Myr's speeder. "Hey babe, shine an o' light right in er'.." He'd point towards one of the piston systems, as his greasy pink hands slid around the compartment. "I think if we tune this up, we'll have er' ready to go," he'd smile towards his partner, a wide toothy grin. "Yer gonna do great."

All around, various racers from Hutt Space and Beyond were getting their own rigs ready for the race. The credits were too good to pass up, and the two knew that they were both running thin on supplies. "These sleemos ain't got kriff on yer skills Red!"

I have a need, a need for speed. Feel the breeze, breathe the chems… let them eat my rust and dust.

She always felt this way before a race. If she were a bulb, she'd be glowin' brighter than half those holos that danced in the russet red sky. The days were hella long here, the nights too, but it was a hazy daze sorta place, this sunset of the Smuggler's Moon. Some important slugs dropped down significant cred for this race; it was a closed-track, one lap, street-dirty race an' she could feel it thumpin' in her blood.

She was dressed simply; her long red hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, but a few curls always slipped free no matter how hard she tried. She was dressed in a synthleather jacket, grease-spattered cargo pants held up by a thick black belt, her heavy boots strapped on and fingerless gloves over her hands. Beneath the jacket, a grungy white tank top could be seen, showing off plenty of tanned skin. Brown eyes sparkled happily as she hummed, one hand holding the light up higher while the other drummed fingers against her thighs, feeling the wide smile touching her lips.
"Yeh?" she asked, arching one red brow.

"I think yer slightly biased there, Star," she teased, leaning forward to peck him on the cheek, ignoring the grease under the cover.

Truth be told, she was crazy head ova' heels, and this guy bein' along put the spark back in her step.
"Don' bet on me, kid," she chuckled, pulling away to allow him to put up his finishing touches. Like her, he had a gift with mechanics, but his specialty was far better with her swoop an' his speeder anyways. "An' hopefully this time, someone won't try to put a spinny on me like they did on Taris."

That were only a week an' a half ago, but it was still a tender spot. In this race, you earned cred whether ya won or not, but it was the rep she needed; they got that rep, then mebbe they'd finally get the shop they both wanted...

THEME

This was not the first time Malakai had been in a street race and provided he didn't crash and burn it would not be his last. His ride came to a stop with its repulsors wining down. Bruggan had come on his swoop bike and the rest of the Grysk's squad of homies were here too though most of them had come without the intention of racing.

As the man stepped out of his vehicle he saw some familiar faces. Plenty of young people were around and immediatly Bruggan knew the drill and started taking bets. It helped having a Hutt work for him too though this time it wasn't right outside Ikraggo's gambling den. Street races were a great time to capitalize on the risk takers as well as those looking to cut lose. Jax, the tattooed Lepi, pulled out a large cooler with bottles of Bapst Cyan Ribbon 'premium' were revealed with individual bottles being sold for more or less the same price as a normal bar though it would help the gang make a little bit of fun pocket change since they tended to get things with the five finger discount to begin with.

Years ago he had to explain stuff to the boys. But now they knew what to do and it was nice not having to manage things. <"I don't wanna see you in this race Bruggan."> He pointed and winked at him, choosing to speak in Huttese. The masked Kaleesh held up both hands and replied in kind. <"What? You afraid I'm gonna beat you?"> Kai replied immediatly keeping the same smile. "YES! Haha" A swoop bike was probably going to eclipse him in speed if not maneuverability. Hopefully this race was airspeeders only so that it at least had some sense of order.

Before he knew it he was slipping skin with some other regular racers he recognized. It was not long before he had a half consumed beer in hand and a heady stream of smoke was regularly drifting from the other. The cigara in his other hand was the cause as Kai was letting the buzz carry him on just to enjoy the night rather than think too much about business.

"Well stick some garbage in my ass and call me a trash compactor....is that you Red?" He called out seeing a familiar face. His hand dropped and he patted himself down. The ghoulishly grinning man was only half joking. The last time he had seen her the youth had tried to steal from him. As he made his way over he could see she wasn't alone. "Not runnin' solo anymore huh?"

The chrome T-80 Joben jumpspeeder made its way through curious onlookers and other racers alike. Underneath the helmet, Jahn's eyes tried to measure the other racers. It was his first time on Nar Shaddaa and the flight from Zeltros had been unbearable. No one wanted to come along to a Hutt-sponsored race, seeing all they've even seen of Hutts is them being the targets of the same people that executed those rangers, and that meant Jahn had spend the entire trip alone. He'd run out of spice on day five. Polished the chrome of his jumpspeeder four times and still had time left to spend four days laying on the couch watching other people race.

He was more determined than ever to make sure he could fill up his spaceship with spice and groupies for the flight to the next race. That meant he had to win. Can't get groupies if you never win.

Coming to a stop next to a fellow Zeltron (@TWD26) just as some Grysk was yelling at his companion, Jahn felt socially obligated to remove his helmet and smile a greeting. "You racing as well?" his eyes moved to observe the speeder he stopped besides, "Yours?" Instinctively he felt warm and a bit fuzzy on account of the love that the other Zeltron shared with the human girl. Maybe it would cause him to lose his edge in the upcoming race, but right now he didn't really care for he felt good and he hadn't felt like that since he left Zeltros eleven days ago."Hope you don't mind coming in second."

The Zeltron paused as he felt her lips press up against his cheek, causing his pink skin to flush a deep reddish-pink color. "Nah you got this..just don't mind comin' in second," he'd say with a chuckle as he popped the hood down on her swoop. Oh what the kriff...is that a mask? The Zeltron's purple eyes widened at the sight of the man's face. "Ye' know this sleemo?" He'd peer towards the man with a wide smile, holding out his hand.

"Kenii Starblazer, leader of the Yeshu City Driftstars!" He totally didn't come up with that name on the spot, but it sounded cool and that was all that really mattered to the young and naive kid.

He heard another voice and would peer over to see an older Zeltron standing close to their little group of racers. "Yeah, I'm racin'. Ye' goin' fer a cruise gramps?" He'd grin a wide toothy grin as he held out his hand towards the man. "Ye' she's with me," he'd shrug with a bit of a chuckle, "If she gets first an' I get second, I don't care..more credits fer tha' two of us." He would shift over to his rusted rust burner. It was a piece of schutta, but he was planning on trading it in soon enough, after they got enough credits and rep to get that shop they wanted to open.

"Time to show ye' how the Yeshu City boys do it!"

She stiffened at a voice she hadn't expected ta hear fer the rest o' her days... and when she slowly turned around, she gave a sheepish, friendly smile to the Grysk, giving him a wave. "Well hiya there Skelly Boy, ain't ya a sight fer sore eyes..." she blushed a darker red when he patted his pockets, then gave off a small huff of a laugh. "No more pickin' fer me, an' yup. This is," she wrapped an arm casually around Kenii's waist, her grin widening, "my honey an' fixer."

She let him introduce herself, and then smirked at the new Zeltron arrival, giving him a cheeky grin with her thumb cocked at her own chest.
"Nah, boyo, that sweet babe there belongs ta yers truly. An' he won't have any problems bein' second... so long as ya don't mind bein' third."

She winked at them both, then planted another smooch on Ken's cheek, letting the engine roar to life with a whoop and scooping up her helmet, sliding it overhead.

"Las' one to tha finish buys noodles?" she teased the group, before powering her swoop to the starting line.

She could be lil miss social if she wanted to, but righ' now she craved the open road and tha wind in 'er hair. An' judgin' by the sound, there was quite a crowd 'ere. Racin' was gonna be a dream.

She grinned, sliding the sunglass visor over her eyes to cut the glare of the hours-long sunset. Not doin' that would leave ya likely to go into a spinny, an' it wouldn't be long fer the boys ta finish comparin' speeds before they'd have to join her. She chuckled, settling down into her seat.

Even if she lost, it was gonna be an interestin' ride. Soon, the race would begin.

Malakai opened his mouth and placed his cigara there while he shook Kenii's hand. "I've been called worse." He quipped back. "Malakai Beck. Most people just call me Kai. Leader of fools and conqueror of fantasies."

Malakai took a deep breath and proceeded to exhale a large cloud into the space between the four of them after another Zeltron arrived. It wasn't long before saw a third Zeltron sitting behind the wheel of Myrna's ride. Her arms crossed over the steering controls and staring back at him unflinchingly like she was waiting for him to talk to her. But every part of her turned into evaporating smoke and simultaneously melted into just an empty speeder seat. The Grysk blinked and took another drag on his cigara.

"Noodles?" He said coming back into focus in time to see everyone heading to their vehicles. Tilting his bottle back the Grysk drained his beer. The cigara returned to his hand on the walk back to his airspeeder. He brought the vehicle around to the starting line. Further down the line he saw Bruggan saddling up next to Myrna. This time Malakai didn't just put his blaster pistol in the cup-holder but instead had a holster for it should he decide to be aggressive or defend himself against any would be harassers.

His own rust burner was sleeker than the last one he had but still cheap. I swear, if I get a swoop bike I'm definitely gonna die. The preparation for the race was nearing its end. Malakai could hear Jax shouting for bets to be placed. The sound of swoop bikes and airspeeders reving their repulsors and cheers from the crowd filled the air. A few high speed droids had their eyes on the line up so that the crowd could continue to watch the race even when they eventually went out of view.

The good mood Jahn had been in due to the shared connection of the two lovebirds was spoiled suddenly when his fellow Zeltron called him a.. a gramps!? Somewhat offended, the 23 year old spoiled Zeltron hardly replied to the follow-up conversation. When the girl scooped up her helmet, Jahn put his own back on with a sigh filled with frustrating emotions, "Keep your purse ready." This was weird. On Zeltros they usually adored him and here... what was happening? Noodles were such a poor sentient's food, too. Couldn't they at least afford su'shi?

Trying his best to get his head back in the game and focus on the race ahead, Jahn tapped his fuel meter and steered his jumpspeeder behind the girl's. He had enough fuel to last him the race and then some. He knew that his speeder wasn't just polished so well that it reflected the setting sun and the neon-lights alike, but that it was in absolute top shape. It was oiled, warmed-up and brake-tested. If he were to lose today it wouldn't be the speeder's fault but his own... and damnit, he hadn't lost a race yet.

Finally taking his place on the starting line, the twenty-something Zeltron cast one last look at his opponents. The lovebirds looked eager yet inexperienced and were more likely to focus on speed over harassment. The Grysk was the wildcard that couldn't be trusted. A man that showed up to a race with a gang of lackeys never plans to play it clean. He'd have to watch out for that one.

"WELCOME ORGANICS TO THE SLUM CITY CIRCUIT...NAR SHADDAA'S PREMIER UNDERGROUND RACING SERIES..."
The robotic voice blasted over the crowds in the arena, signaling that the race was going to begin. Slowly an assortment of illegal racers would pull up to the starting lines, neon lights dancing across the starting line as gangsters and kingpins from all over watched and waged on the race below.

There was a mixture of racers from all over the galaxy, some of them more well known than the others, but the prospects seemed promising and glory was to be had for those who put it all on the line tonight. The first stretch of the race was relatively easy, with a few light turns followed by a sharp decline that would lead into the tunnel systems for the second leg of the race.

A small probe droid would hover over the raceway, blinking a set of lights as it began to count down. "3..2..1...GO!"

The smell of oil and speeder fluid filled the air, and when Ken was behind the wheel it almost felt as if the same gas coursed through the hyperlanes of his own body, the rumbling of his airspeeder mimicking the beat and pace of his heart. Behind the wheel was the one place that the Zeltron truly felt alive, the depression and the stress he felt about life, his destiny it all melted away. His hands became an extension of the speeder and his legs melded with the pedals on his speeder. He had always been born to ride, this was was his life. I am a Racer...

He peered towards the group, as they all took their lineup, a cool breath escaping his lips as he tapped his hand to the rhythm to the beat of the track playing quietly in his speeder--this was his orchestra and he was the maestro. He knew that this was a dirty race, but Ken believed that only the skill of the driver should determine the race, he had no intentions on driving dirty nor did he carry a blaster on him.

His eyes focused on the Grysk--Kai..I don't know much about him, but his eyes..and his posture reminded me of myself, someone that's felt a pain...yet carries a cool calm and collected skill, I expect him to drive with a cool calm efficiency that will make him a tough and challenging opponent.

He shifted his eyes towards the other Zeltron, I could tell that the words I said got to him, his speeder and its condition tells me that he takes care of his ride, and he possibly rides with pride..We'll see how he goes, but I doubt someone like him simply walks onto a race line just for the fun of it..

Lastly, there was Myr. A soft smile formed on his face as he thought about the girl. Sorry Red, but I won't let even you beat me..On the line a battle of spirits is waged, and I don't plan to lose. He closed his eyes as he took a deep breath, his hands gripping around the wheel as his left foot bounced to the pace of the beat in his speeder. Here came the part he loved the most.

3..2..1..go.....

The Zeltron punched down as hard as he could on the gas, his pink slender hands pulling back on the gear as he zoomed off, he jumped ahead with a few other racers, coasting down the slight twist and turns--the blinking neon lights danced and bounced across the glare on his windshield, as he kept an eye on the other racers. He would coast behind a Lepi for a few turns, his airspeeder catching the drafts of the other racer.

As they came around the second easy turn, Ken would calmly thrust to the inside of the turn, taking the gap and swooshing past the Lepi who snarled in frustration. Keep your eyes focused here goes the decline into the tunnel system. His hands tapped against the wheel as he felt the soft beat of his up tempo music, his foot would throttle the gas, revving the engine as he approached the drop, his mind racing as he counted down the meters.

As he felt his speeder drift over the edge and the descent, he'd pull the emergency brake as he tilted the speeder forward, letting the speeder stall for a few moment as the moment dived it forward. Pulling it back up he'd quickly kick back into gear as he zoomed towards the second leg of the race--maybe this kid could race after all, but could the rust bucket maintain was the question.

The start signal was given and Jahn's jumpspeeder was off. He had a good start and he knew it, but it looked like he wasn't the only one. The other Zeltron (@TWD26) was ahead of him, just like the Grysk (@Darasuum) and Jahn was caught in between two other speeders that had no intention of having a speeder bike pass between them. "Get out-" he swirled closer to one of the speeders while they were all still picking up speed, "-out of-" the speeder took the bait and tried to ram Jahn, who quickly switched gears and swirled towards the other speeder. The latter noticed the incoming disaster and swirled out of the way to make sure the other speeder wouldn't hit him instead, but as he did so he finally opened a hole for Jahn, whose elation was much more aggressive than he had expected "-my way!"

Flattening himself on the jumpspeeder, his shoulders almost dislocating due to the angle, the Zeltron finally found track open up ahead and left most racers, including the girl (@Killa Ree), in his rear-view mirrors. It took him a few easy turns to catch up on the other Zeltron, but then he revved passed the Lepi as if the latter stood still and all Jahn could do was opening his mouth in awe. Knowing the descent into the tunnels came up next, Jahn didn't dare a risky maneuver and decided to stay behind the Lepi, which meant the also staying behind the Grysk, his low position on the bike helping to quickly adjust to the descent and it almost naturally tilted forward.

Hopefully he could find an opening to advance inside the tunnels.

She was all set.

She loved this part of the race. The thrill, the edge... the hum of the motor beneath her, the smell of the chems… it was a wild high, barely contained in her chest, but when the race started, she didn't move.

Her chest sank, and she could feel her breathing constrict as suddenly, it stalled. Her focus was narrowed, her hands clenched into the throttle and brake...

when she released, it shrieked to life, careening wildly ahead. Ken, the Grysk and the other Zeltron would be ahead... but she could bide her time at the end of the pack.

It weren't the end of the race, after all. Four more legs to it. She just had to keep her cool, and keep on ridin'. But she would hafta talk to Ken later... if he tampered, that would mean many cold nights for that honey o' hers.

The vibrations of the custom modifieid rust burner buzzed against the skeletal grip on the steering controls at the starting line. Malakai looked down the line until the count down began. His hand reached towards the dashboard controls and turned up the music adding the built in subwoffer to the vehicle's shaking. Now I feel it

His double foot pedaling had the front prong of his rust burner raise slightly as the race began. The Grysk's body pressed into the seat from the sudden acceleration. Each of the speeder bikes were left in the rear view despite his previous belief that they would beat him.

Malakai's attention looked ahead as the speeder of Kenii increased the distance between them. The Grysk was quiet but the grinning skull like face widened its excited expression. The vehicle growled and continued to try and keep up. The crowd watching was ignored for the time being. He wasn't doing this for an audience. The cigara in his mouth was getting slightly bent and the smoke whipped out of the open window into the night air.

After an easy first leg, the racers find themselves entering the tight highway tunnel systems that run through the under pass, which leads to the third leg--the factory districts. Lanes are tight and turns are extremely sharp on this portion of the race. It will require sharp skills and a quick thinking to execute precise turning and maneuvering to make it through this tunnel system.

Ken kept the momentum going as he pushed into the tunnel system, his eyes peering through the rearview for a moment, a small smirk forming on his face as his engine roared with maximum life, as the sound of the supercharger belt echoed and whined as he entered into the dark tunnel systems.

He knew it was going to be no easy task to make it through this, with the tight and narrow turns that were intended for much slower speeds than the racers were going to be entering. He'd shift his gears before jerking with a bit of oversteer with each turn--his rust bucket fishtailing and power sliding through the air as his bumper road close to the edge of the walls, but he felt cool, calm and collected.

As he made his way around the last turn he would find himself exiting the tunnel system still in the lead, but there was still a lot more racing to go and two legs to manage. Myr..you better be keeping up.

THEME

The rumble of his air speeder began to change indicating something under the hood was getting strained. If he pushed it he was bound to start seeing smoke rising from the hood of his rust burner. Even high performance racing vehicles could burst into flames. He had seen holovid compilations of professional disasters. But there was good news since he could see the architecture changing. Kai was familiar with Nar Shaddaa and this circuit. The tunnels were coming.

Kenii kept in the lead and while he wasn't at the same flat out speed as he had when he had leaped off the starting line he was still very much in the lead. A headlight came up on his side and he saw the swoop bike of Myrna pass him deftly. But his attention was taken away by another driver coming up on the other side. He swerved to cut them off resulting in them honking like this was rush hour traffic. That gave Kai a reason to chuckle. Their airspeeder scrapped against the tunnel wall sending sparks flying behind the two of them.

"No traffic rules her koochoo" He said knowing the driver was probably fuming. If the Grysk wanted to finish in the lead his chances were decreasing by every minute. His thrilled and buzzed head felt like it always did in these sorts of situations. He dared it to escalate. But a moment later he was cursing at himself for nearly scratching his own paint job with a tunnel wall. "That cigara must've been packed heavy...kark" The man coughed as he realized his mouth was drier than he expected. His free hand wobbled for a moment tried to split his attention between driving at high speeds and reaching for his flask (after all he had done it dozens of times before) which was just another dare towards the promise of death. But then gave up and decided to just focus on driving. That didn't stop him from licking his ghoulish face out of impulse and trying to get rid of the slightly rough feeling in his throat.

Suddenly, Myrna was granted an opportunity. Right as the next turn came around, the Lepi ahead of her suddenly stalled, and he smashed into the side of the tight highway tunnel at the sudden sharp turn. She throttled the gas and nose-dipped with a sharp yank to the left, feeling sparks shower as they left a blue cursing streak in her wake.

Brown eyes narrowed within her helmet; the tight quarters would prove difficult to pass, especially considering the group ahead were speeders, and this was narrow. Though that other Zeltron had a swoop also; perhaps he would have more luck cruising ahead.

She flattened herself into her seat, eyes focused always on the next turn; too sharp or gradual, you'd be a pancake on the walls and none'd be the wiser. Catching up to the other two was key, she weren't gonna take no prisoners here. This was her blood, her bones an' her life; racin' was the only thing that kept her alive, it felt like, and when the Zeltron... she didn' know his name, an' right now it hardly mattered... woulda done his thing she screeched ahead, narrowly missing scraping the ceiling.

And then, there was the Skelly boy.

She didn't hold back, but gunned it hard with a whoop, barely diving afore his nose and letting out a whoop, her eyes sparkling as she released the lift and made the next turn, smelling the fumes ahead. Were gonna be difficult this close to tha factories, but she would haveta live with it.

"I'm catchin' up, babe," she teased, wiggling slightly in her seat and grinning wide.

There were a fine line between love an' war; and this was a war fer the road. Her heart was poundin', her body were both numb an' light; the roar of the engine weren't nothin' but a distant hum.

She had to catch up, there weren't no alternatives.

His speed suffering in favor of maneuverability, Jahn was quickly passed by the girl and then another, the latter not counting on Kai being a meany..

When the Grysk collided with the other speeder inside the tunnel it took all of Jahn to press the brakes and swirl to avoid collision. The sparks of a speeder scraping the tunnel wall half-blinded the Zeltron as he desperate tried to keep in his lane at a back-breaking speed. He knew that if he crashed now he body would be torn apart and smeared along the wall.

Jahn swirled dangerously from one tunnel wall to the other, barely keeping up with the turns. It took all of him not to crash and when he finally made it out of the tunnel and managed to stabilize his speeder, the other racers were almost out of sight completely.

The third leg of the circuit is a challenging portion of the race, that sprawls out over a wide industrial district, the haze is thick with an acidic orange haze, with large stacks that scrape through the sky as plumes of fire pour from their tips. airspeeders and freighters fill the air, showing that this portion of the race was not shut down. Racers are to traverse through the sprawling pipe systems warehouses, dodging labor droids and civilians with any path that they can find, and work their way towards a bottle neck which leads to the grand straight away that is the fourth leg.

Ken had been in the lead and everything was going well, that was until he made it into the heart of the industrial sector. It seemed that production was on full display, and that would be bad for all the racers involved. He'd skid and slip around various corners, dodging a few different speeders and shipment containers as he felt his engine screaming into the heart of a warehouse, which was his mistake.

As he flew into the center a large freighter would begin to pass through, causing the racer to slam on the brakes as he came screeching towards the slow passing airspeeder-truck. Come on...Come On..Come on... He would come within inches of crashing into the truck, but got lucky, but it was no doubt that he probably lost the lead that he had.
