The Sovereign Guard

To Whom It May Concern,

Feel oppressed no more. Feel controlled no more. Feel watched no more. Feel like a pawn no more. Feel voiceless no more. Certainly, feel enslaved no more.

The dictatorial powers of your star system are no more, and are locked away in a place very far away. May their lessons be learned in time, but they will never return to your system.

You and Your People must establish a new government. One that has Freedom. Stability. Fairness. Strength. But most importantly, one that has many Voices.

Fair you well,
The Sovereign Guard

Mission

"May a man walk with no chains amongst his feet." -Sovereign Guard proverb

The Sovereign Guard are a group of freedom fighters. They seek out star systems with corrupt or fascist governments and end that blight. They lay the founding for a new and fair system, then disappear, letting the newly free people of that star system to rebuild. They seek no payment, or retribution, their continuing mission of freeing oppressed people suceeding is more than reward enough for them.

Origins

"The People should never fear their Government. The Government should fear the People." -Sovereign Guard proverb

It all started in a star system in the Outer Rim many, many years ago. The planetary government became that of one man, and he ruled ruthlessly, with his devoted and loyal armies and navy. Eventually, rebellion amongst the planets in the system sought to overthrow the dictator. After a long campaign in the isolated star system with the rebels taking resources from the navy and armies after several skirmishes, they launched an assault on the government palace, killing the dictator in cold blood.

After parading the corpse of the dictator on a sled hanging from a post by his entrails, a new government was formed. This new government was made up of a council of twelve men, each one representing a planet in the system with no central leader. However, in turn, they became corrupt themselves save for one, Mao-Dor. Mao-Dor left the council of twelve, unsatisfied at the results of the revolution. Along with a rout of nearly five hundred thousand people, they left the system in a fleet of old military corvettes and civilian freighters.

The rout of five hundred thousand leaving the star system.

They formed a society that would spread revolution throughout corrupt star systems and break the ground for a peaceful and fair government made by the native people of said star system. They made their way to another star system controlled by ruthless Toydarians who controlled a monopoly on many businesses in that system, and it was that night, the newly formed Sovereign Guard attacked and after a long campaign spanning several days the small star system was free. Originally planning to be led by a small council, they decided a central leader was needed. Mao-Dor who led the attack against the Toydarians took the name of the Sovereign, and had cast his old name aside. Their would be bounties placed on his head, and secrecy became a powerful feat for the Sovereign Guard soon after.

The Sovereign Guard have been called on and have served nearly thirty small star systems since their inception, bringing peace and eliminating tyranny. Garnering attention from the Republic and the Hutt Empire, they have managed for the most part, been able to stay below the radar. The flagship of the fleet and base of the Sovereign Guard is the Divine Intervention, formerly a very large civilian transport cruiser converted into a warship. It is here that the Sovereign commands his space battles and assembles the select ground forces that make up his special operations teams. The Sovereign Guard have lost many of their fighters, but have recruited new ones as well. Having at least one member of the every known sentient species in the galaxy, the Sovereign Guard have shown that they are fair and diverse, and seek to end corruption, greed, and tyranny.

Soldiers, Funding, Equipment, and Fleet

"We do not choose to use weapons, the tyrants threw the choice onto us." -Sovereign Guard proverb

Being only five years old, the Sovereign Guard now have a base of nearly three hundred thousand men, having lost many in recent confrontations. A majority of these soldiers serve as low grunts, and the Sovereign have been known to employ specialisation mercenaries for certain missions, but they are only temporary aid. The command structure is based off that of the Republican Army. Their are three sub-bases hidden throughout the galaxy on: Coruscant, Naboo, and Tatooine. Each sub-base is under the command of a chapter leader appointed by the Sovereign.

Much of the equipment used is pillaged and scavenged, usually from the tyrant governments that they collapse. Their is no standard service weapon, as the Sovereign Guard use many weapons from different systems from throughout the galaxy with different origins of manufacturer and species the weapon was made for. The Sovereign Guard use weapons such as blaster pistols and rifles, sniper rifles, vibroswords and axes, grenades, and bowcasters. Their is no standard uniform, but members are encouraged to wear an armband with an emblem of the Sovereign Guard on it. The Sovereign Guard use ground based vehicles such as hover tanks, speeder bikes, and mechs. Hover tanks have two small blast turrets and a large blast cannon. Speeder bikes are equipped with two small blaster cannons. The mechs are large bipedal tanks, each of the two arms equipped with a blast turret, with a large blaster cannon in the "mouth" of the mech. They are capable of crushing through small buildings.

One of the many mechs used by the Sovereign Guard.

The fleet of the Sovereign Guard is made up of captured military corvettes and civilian freighters converted into warships. The main aspect of the fleet is the very large Divine Intervention, but the fleet is made up of three corvettes and fifteen civilian freighters turned warships. The corvettes did not undergo modifications due to the stretched out budget of the Sovereign Guard. The converted warships have the standard armaments of turbolasers and and each has two ion cannons. There are also many starfighters of various variants. The fleet has shown itself capable of holding and defeating a small star system planetary navy, anything larger would result in the decimation of the Sovereign Guard fleet.

Funding comes from the star systems they liberate. After a regime is taken down, the Sovereign Guard usually take a sum of their currency, usually around six percent of the system's assets, depending on the wealth of the previous regime, to maintain the organization. In the case of the currency not being Republic Credits, the Sovereign Guard usually go through currency launderers to get it converted into credits, as credits have proven to be the most widely accepted currency in the galaxy. The Sovereign Guard do not consider themselves thieves by taking money from the previous regime, as the money is used to liberate other systems while keep none for profit.

Roster and Command Structure

"We are many." -Sovereign Guard proverb

The Sovereign Guard is the central leader with a small advisory council. He is based off the Sovereign Guard's main headquarters on the Divine Intervention which remains with the Sovereign Guard's fleet. He appoints a chapter leader for each of three sub-bases the Sovereign Guard operate, to give the Sovereign Guard more holdings and rest points throughout the galaxy.

A few members of the Sovereign Guard, with Mao-Dor (the Sovereign) in the back with his head cover.

Please send mission suggestions to me or Sreeya via PM. Thanks.

You may only do missions with members of your chapter. The chapters are meant to strengthen bonds and relationships between the characters and form somewhat of a family.

When starting a thread for a mission, be sure the prefix "SG:" is in front of the thread title, and the title of the thread should match the name of the mission. For example, if I choose the mission: Taking Care of Loos Ends, I would title the thread like this- SG: Taking Care of Loose Ends.

Tatooine Missions:
-Taking Care of Loose Ends (NPC enemies): A Jawa settlement have told us of raids on their convoys across the Dune Sea. These Jawa settlements are key in the maintenance of the Tattooine Outpost. Speak with the Jawa leader, Mevit, he'll be able to better inform you on the convoys whereabouts and intel about the attackers.

Go to the Jawa settlement in the Dune Sea and speak to Mevit and take care of the raids on their convoys, whether it be by peaceful means or hostile, get it done. (Submitted by Rev)

-Establishing Hutt Relations (NPC enemies): Current slave trade in the Tattooine sector has increased. It is up to us to take care of this problem. We're told the slaves are brought in on freighters from further out of the Outer Rim. It is assumed these are brought in for the Hutt Empire.

Assemble a team and take care of the slave trade coming into the Mos Espa settlements and surrounding trade sectors. Speaking to the Hutt in Mos Espa may prove helpful, however, don't expect a slug to so easily give up his trade. (Submitted by Rev)

-Pirates Deception (NPC enemies): Recent reports show pirates attacking freighters coming into Mos Eisley space port. They are targeting small freighters carrying various goods for the general people, plundering what is there, and sending the ship on its way, in most cases with little to no supply. This has caused a food lapse and medical supply drought.

Travel to into the Tattooine system and rid the sector of any pirates. Let your presence be known that the Sovereign Guard will not let pirates do as they wish to small settlements. (Submitted by Rev)

Coruscant Missions:
-Taken: The new Coruscant chapter is finally arriving to the metropolis planet, only to be ambushed by an unknown group in a heavy patrol ship. The Coruscant chapter members are captured and stowed away aboard the heavy patrol boat with their transport in tow. The members involved are to break out, make contact with the Sovereign Guard fleet, use clues to find out the motives for the attack and who ordered it, possibly capturing the captain and commandeering the heavy patrol ship for the Sovereign Guard. I will be accepting applications for the positions of Chapter Leader.

As a Chapter Leader you will be in charge of your own chapter and handing out ranks in that chapter (after the character is overall approved by me).

It will be like your own sub-faction, but you will be under my charge for large missions, yet your sub-base can engage on your own missions after the Midnight Man has given approval.

Before any asks, yes, this is a reboot of The Balance's old faction. The Balance had intented on rebooting this faction for the third timeline but it never fully happened as he had left and never returned. Two years later now in the fourth timeline, I have decided to reboot it. Also, to clarify, I have used the notes on the original Midnight Men faction to base this around, and I have tried my best to follow The Balance's history of the faction while making it my own at the same time.

Pretty good job, it looks better than the original Midnight Men. :CHappy:

If Aevis works he'd apply- though he couldn't leave the Jedi and might be away now and again, the Midnight Men is right up his alley.

This seems way more up Azazel's alley, would pull his unaccepted app from the Station C-453 NOSIX to join the Midnight men.

I think I know why too. 300.000 men and a pretty large fleet seems... OP´ed for a faction that just re-organized.
