The Trek Home
  • The Story: Two Jedi on the trek to their new home Ilum; where the rest of the Jedi Army can be found thanks to the fall of Tython.
  • Location: A dust ball of a small planetoid with a scattering of boom towns across its surface. The majority of trade items from this green and brown planetoid is ore. Weary travels can also find fuel, as well as some consumables for trade upon the small planet, as well.
A pit-stop.

That's what this is for Jedi Nula Sygti. She had meant for this last portion of her trek to be non-stop, but the universe as it likes to do, has a way to foul up supposedly concrete plans.

Nula landed at one of the larger boom towns upon the planetoid and as soon as the powering down sequence of her ship was complete, she was out of her very battered-dinged-up starfighter. She'll run a hand through her short hair as she gives the aged ship a silent look. Fuel was definitely in order and after that was lined up and her ship was in queue, the Jedi soon found herself with a bit of time on her hands. While she would normally openly wear her lightsaber, today, she tucks the slim silver hilt into the side of her boot. Hidden, but definitely accessible if needed.

It didn't take the short-haired woman long to find her way to an open air market; similar to bazaars but definitely much smaller. Various stalls and tables can be seen down the main thoroughfare and the wares upon each table varies greatly. Some hold produce, while others plants and herbs, while even more have every day items such as cups, knives, plates, jewelry and even clothing. Several stalls likewise hold sizzling food and drinks both warm and cold.

For Nula, her slow pace has her just passing a stall that holds a variety of multi-tools, the type of tools that people often have when they live upon planets less civilized than what can be found within the Deep Core. When her brown eyes meet the seller of the tools, Nula can't help but smile and offer a greeting. "Good day, sir."

The grizzled human looking male offers his own smile and says, "Got just about everything a lady like yerself might need on a world like this. Please take a look. My prices are fair."

Kiro had arrived on the planet shortly before the other Jedi and was now carrying a can of fuel back to his ship. His white shirt was laden with sweat, and his hair dripped with it. His duster billowed as sand blew off the ground through the edges, and his lightsaber remained visible between billows. Walking through the bazaar he ignored shouts of 'great deals' and 'high quality goods'. He didn't need anything besides fuel, and he had to resist his childlike urges to buy things he didn't need. It was then he walked past the woman, and almost immediately sensed her presence.

Circling around, he stood besides her at the stall, looking towards the tools and looking at the merchant with a raised brow and an amused look. "Oh yes everything you might need. Who doesnt need a spoon in the middle of the desert. It is essential." He grinned, as he mocked the merchants sales pitch, looking towards the tools with the same amused gaze. "Though i think the ladies got everything she needs on her belt, right?" He turned to her and smiled, with a nod to her waist. Of course, he only presumed she had a lightsaber with her, but it seemed smart to assume that. After all, what kind of jedi left their lightsaber anywhere they couldnt show off with it?

Much like Kiro, when the younger Jedi walks past Nula, the elder likewise senses his presence as well. That feeling is enough to draw her eyes up and away from the various tools upon the tabletop and to the rather dusty and fuel laden young man.

A faint smile of greeting will ghost across for a moment, before it dims slightly when the young man mocks the wares before the two. Tilting her head towards the offending spoon, Nula will shake her head for a silent moment. Her brown-eyed gaze seeks out the eyes of the grizzly old man and once she has his attention, she'll say, "Younglings." Her tone definitely holds a gentle rebuke within, "They mock what they don't need right now unaware of how quickly that can change." Especially on a world such as this, or those among the Outer Rim.

The elderly man offers a grin at Nula's words, clearly in agreement with the woman and that grin of his also reveals a few dark gaps within his smile. "Ain't that the truth, ma'am."

It's only when he makes the observation about her lightsaber that Nula's expression will turn a bit more serious now. While her lightsaber doesn't sit at her waist, she does understand what he's getting at and so - Nula turns back to the booth owner and offers a faint incline of her head. "Thank you for showing me your wares. I hope the rest of the day finds you well." Once her farewells are given, the Jedi will turn away from the booth and gesture for Kiro to walk with her. "Shall we walk, friend?"

He grinned stupidly as she mocked his attitude and fair play to her, there was a lot to mock. He certainly didn't hold the elder wisdom that she did. Nor the combative skills she possessed. Instead he had an attitude and a plethora of jokes at his disposal. When he was offered to walk, he nodded."Alright, the madams sold me. I'll buy your spoon."

He follow Nula with a smile, pocketing the spoon visibly on the outside of his jacket, as if it was more a fashion accessory than a tool. "You're welcome. I just helped you dodge a class A swindler." He grinned, as if he'd done her a great service as he walked alongside her, looking around as he stepped through the bazaar. "Though to be fair, the whole planet is swindlers. Paid way too much for this fuel. Ilum had better be paradise."

He glanced at her waist again, as if looking for something, presumably her Lightsaber. "you strike me as a green, seem pretty wisdomous."

His words. There's so many of them.

It's enough to cause a flash of amusement to flicker across her features at what he has to say for himself. Especially when he purchases said spoon and then proceeds to tuck it so prominently upon his jacket.

A corner of her mouth quirks upward now, as she walks down the dusty street with the young man. When the two are far enough away from said booth and lost within the gaggle of buyers (who should beware!), Nula will finally say, "Nula Sygti and I don't believe I needed your help." She states, still with a note of humor to her voice, "I was quite aware of what he was trying to sell. What most of these people are trying to sell." Highway robbery apparently. "But it's good to get out among the populace and see what's being said - some of the most crucial intel we've received was from being in the right place at the right time. I may have been away for some years, but surely, they still teach that school of thought, yes?"

Thankfully, whatever else she was about to say stalls at the mention of Ilum. "You are on your way to Ilum as well?" Comes her questions-statement, "I am as well. I only stopped for fuel." A nod will be given towards the fuel container he so carries. "Can you tell me any more news? What happened at Tython? I've only heard a scattering of reports out in the Outer Rim and none of it sounded good."

It seems the question of crystal color will have to be answered later, as the woman asks the more pressing questions to her mind, at least.

"Aha, small world, i stopped for fuel too. And as for Tython..." He took a few moments, as if mustering up the strength to tell a long story about the events...before shrugging. "Found out about it recently, i was out fist fighting firaxan sharks at the time so..." It was up to her whether she believed the shark story. Of course it was only partly true, it was a metaphor, for a man literally named Firaxan Shark. Kiro may or may not have suffered a humiliating defeat.

"Oh, I'm Kiro Snow by the way. Probably heard of my dashing nature and my heroic actions across the galaxy." She'd probably not have heard a thing. Infact, his heroic actions were practically none, he had much more fun abusing his force powers to enjoy himself. Though of course, if the event had arisen, he'd happily leap to the rescue and act the hero, but as no opportunity had been given to him, he was without a hero status.

His hands entered his pockets, looking to the many merchants. "Though like you said, sounds bad. Seems like we need to take the fight to the sith, instead of keep running."

Again there's a slight pause from Nula as she considers what this young man has said.

It's only after that consideration that she'll say, "And is it Knight Kiro or Padawan?" She asks, her expression perfectly straight all except her eyes - they hold a faint twinkle within.

It seems Nula has a smidgen of sarcastic humor, as well.

Her hand will raise and offer a flick of fingers, as she moves to try and dismiss that faint barb of hers.

His last words has her considering her next response as the two continue down the street. "I'd imagine most feel as you do, but there are many things to consider before we take that particular step."

"Anger shouldn't guide our hand in whatever our reprisal may be. That way would lead to danger." Meaning to the dark side, thankfully she doesn't quite say that out loud, as she does think he's likely a Knight which means he should know that lesson. Instead she'll continue with -

"What ship did you arrive on? Shall we finish the last leg of our journey together?"

"That'll be Mr Sir Knight Kiro." He smiled, nodding back. "And it isn't anger, its common sense. Eventually we're going to run out of planets trying to hide from the sith." He looked to her, then to the can of fuel at his side, then back to her with a nod. "Alright, i'm willing. We can half the fuel i've got here, half for me half for you for the journey to our new home."

He looked off towards his ship, which rested on a rock a fair way from them. Nodding over to it, he spoke again. "My vessels the scrap heap over there. Working enough to get me across the galaxy, awful enough to not arise attention. Its state is complete intentional honest." He chuckled to himself, as he started towards it. "Wheres your ship?"

A slanted look is given to Kiro at the Mr. Knight Sir and she'll murmur, "So modest as well, I see."

"But yes,I agree with what you say. We will have to do something in return, I'm just advising caution on how we go about it."

At the sight of his ship, Nula can't help but grin. Her own hand will raise upward to point toward another starfighter not too far from his own and equally in shambles.

"It appears both of our ships have seen better days."

A quick glance of her ship will show how much it is in need of an overhaul. Scorch marks can be seen crisscrossing over the body, as well as dings and dents that have yet to be repaired. "Though mine isn't necessarily done on purpose, simply from prolonged use."

"I have hope that once we're at Ilum I'll be able to have the ship overhauled. I've done patchwork when needed, but, I'm no engineer."

She'll motion for him to go to his ship first and should he go, she'll easily fall into step beside.

As the two continue to chat both might feel the faint itch at the back of their neck. A subtle warning from the Force that all is not as it seems.

He chuckled as he looked off to her ship. "I was joking, the ships just a big bullseye for blasters." He walked first, with a nod of thanks as he headed toward the ship. "I can take a look once we're at Ilum, I'm a better pilot than a mechanic but i might be able to do so-." He stopped, looking at her for confirmation that she'd sensed it,before turning 180 degrees and swiftly drawing his sabre to counter a blaster bolt heading their way. The blade was a luminous pink, and he held it loosely in his hand.

"Looks like your ship brought an entourage. Quaint." He deflected another bolt with a single hand, calmly walking towards the assortment of pirates coming their way. "Hold this." He threw the lightsaber like a javelin, it inserting itself into the chest of a pirate, and the hilt stopping it falling straight out, instead the pirate fell and the saber burnt the sand away. Kiro leapt over another blast, corkscrewing with a kick across the jaw of a pirate, allowing Nula to get involved if she so wished. As he kicked the pirate stumbled back, and he landed on his feet, the lasersword returning to his hand through the pirates neck, decapitating him.

"Boss I swear that ones a Jedi. Don't know about the girl but I saw one of them there swords at his belt." Says a smaller pirate his demeanor fearful as he speaks up.

The boss scoffs which causes the first smaller man to cringe, "I don't see anythin. And sides there's six of us and two of em. The woman ain't half bad to look at for someone long in the tooth, maybe we can get a price for her."

Thankfully there discussion doesn't seem to last long and with a grunt from the boss the scavenging pirates pull out various blasters and weaponry.

When Kiro pauses and looks toward her, Nula is quick to nod at his unasked question. "Yes, I sense it too."

And as he draws his saber from his belt, Nula will call forth hers from its hiding spot within her boot. While she has yet to activate it, she does bring it forth her thumb upon the activation button..

"My ship?" She says with surprise, before adding, "Let us see what they want -"

And that's all she could say, before Kiro leaps into the group of pirates. Sighing, Nula murmurs, "Youth." Then she activates her Lightsaber the familiar thrum of power heard as a blue blade extends from the silver hilt.

The boss at this point has started to realize he may have bitten off more than he and his band of merry men could handle. It doesn't stop him from pressing the attack, but he definitely is regretting picking these particular targets.

Kiro's swift attacks leave a trail of carnage around him, but even so, there is still four pirates left - well, three now. The meek mousy man is running - definitely away from Kiro, "Sorry Boss!", he yells frightfully, but it's clear he doesn't want to die today.

For Nula's part, she continues to stand in the same spot, but a hand will now stretch out before her and from that movement a good sized rock will leap upward and smack into another pirate's head. The man goes down with a gurgle - alive, but unconscious.

Now two are left and they both look at eachother before converging their fire upon Kiro, seeing him as more of a threat.

"Blue... really?" He said with surprise, completely forgetting he was in the midst of a fight it seemed, a sudden blaster skimming his shoulder blade appeared to wake him up however. He turned to the two firing, deflecting the bolts as they came, whilst keeping graceful footwork to avoid as many as he could. He was clearly not comfortable with more than one opponent, despite his initial over-confidence.

He groaned, pushing one of the men through a wooden stall with a force push, and taking the other ones gun afterwards with the force, pointing the gun at him but stopping. "...Now you're unarmed, i cant..." He looked to Nula, making sure she wasn't watching but as most men were disposed of, it was likely she was. He didn't pull the trigger, finally deciding to obey at least one rule. He wasn't going to execute the now unarmed man. He considered giving the gun back just to kill him, but it wasn't worth it, he threw the gun up and cut it in half to make sure it wasn't going to be used to shoot him in the ass. Sheathing the saber he began to walk away. "Dont suppose you dont feel like going through the effort of arresting them? Or well, calling someone to. I'd like to get off the rock as soon as."

As the dust settles one can easily see the fallen bodies (alive and dead) as well as the property damage.

The man that's left standing simply gapes at Kiro as the Jedi allows him to live.

Nula, who yes was watching Kiro, nods. "Yes, let's get out of here. I'm not sure I would trust what passes for the local authority anyway."

With neat efficient movements, Nula will deactivate her saber and tuck it back in her boot. Straightening she'll give Kiro a quick look, before saying, "And yes, blue. One could say the same thing about your own." After all it's not often a pink blade is seen.

The still gaping man blinks a few times and when it's obvious even to his addled brain that he's free, he runs. Perhaps he's learned his lesson.

He glanced at the saber inside his jacket. "Took a while to make, but I wanted a weapon to suit myself. Its not everyday you meet someone like me after all."

Walking back to the ship, he looked back at the running man, groaning. "you know he'll be mugging and enslaving by noon right? Never understood that. A man is evil with or without a weapon. Not killing him is like rewarding hin for being incapable as a fighter." It took him a few moments before he shook his head. "shouldn't question it, lest I get clipped around the ear."

"Hm." She says at his mention of the weapon suiting him, "For now, but as you go through your journey perhaps you will find another color will likewise fit."

"Possibly he won't change, but yiu must give him the opportunity to change - we can only hope he takes. And hopefully we will find a warmer welcome at Ilum."

Which might have an ironic twist to it, as Ilum is quite cold. His mention of being clipped upon his ear is heard and Nula adds, "There is always a place for questions, now timing, that can be tricky to master."

Moving with purpose Nula will stride towards her own ship, intending to ready it for this improvised refueling.

Kiro, after refueling his own ship walked with her back to hers to refuel, going to refuel her ship for her. "i find I'm not particularly good at timing. For example, i meet you as soon as we're getting shot at. Perfect example of my impeccable timing." He climbed off her ship after the refueling, and threw the can to the side, clapping his hands together vertically to try and get the excess fuel off that had seeped onto his fingers.

He headed back off towards his ship, walking backwards as he talked to her. "you got a uh.." He put two fingers to his ear, having forgotten the word. "Communication thing?"

"Are you sure that's such bad timing then? In my mind it's fortuitous, otherwise I'd have had to battle those pirates alone. Perhaps the Force saw my need and placed you where we both needed you to be." Comes her calm tones even as she watches the young Jedi refuel her battered ship.

As to the communication gear, she'll nod, "I do." Already she's moving to climb back in the cockpit, the Force helping her up as she moves, "Your call sign?" She asks, voice rising upward to be heard as the distance between them lengthens.

He smiled with a nod. "Glad to be your savior Nula." Before hopping onto his ship with a swift jump, climbing into the cockpit and shouting out at her. "Its uh.." he looked around the cockpit, he'd certainly wrote it down somewhere. "Six uh..." He struggled with remembering the call sign, before finding the sheet with it scrawled on lazily. "Rancor Six!" he shouted back at her.

Savior? Brown eyes will lift upward for a few seconds in exasperation.

"We must work on that ego." She murmurs completely to herself, before she flicks the switch to power up her starfighter.

The hum of engines sounds strong and sure no matter what her ship looks like.

Over the Jedi comm frequency Nula's tinny voice can be heard, "Rancor Six it is. Minoc One Is ready. You good to go?"

"Mynock? I dont think you're that irritating." It was clearly a joke, evident by his laugh as the ship began to hover off the ground. "Lets get off this rock."

Kiro smiled to himself as he began flying, enjoying the feeling of the g-force taking effect as he plowed through the air towards the outer atmosphere. He looked out the window towards her vessel, offering a thumbs up as he took off. "Minoc One, we have liftoff. Lets hope our pirate buddies have some ships to keep us entertained on the flight home."
