The little blue monk flickered into existence with a strong sense of immediacy, a hovering density of holographic light floating over the little cube which sat patiently upon the ground. As the figure looks up, he gives a smile, and then performs complex bow traditionally used by Echani warriors of old to greet one another. He appeared to be quite young, a trait uncommon amongst gatekeepers, but it was clear that he was a warrior of the Jedi Order.

"I am Jedi Knight Ze'kyre Saixc, Songweaver of the Bladedancer clan, and it is my great honour to share what I know with the New Jedi Order. I have spent many years amongst the Jedi, but I do not claim to be any sort of master. I was given this opportunity by Grand Master Ebberla Daw, because of my background as a Sublime Warrior of the Eshan Monasteries, and my highly trained sense of combat.

"Since the Battle of Coruscant, our Order has been splintered, forced to hide and negotiate our way through existence, but I have never been one for sneaking or debating. I am a Warrior, it is my duty to stand and fight. Unfortunately, It was not the time for me to have the chance to truly experience my livelihood, as the fallen Jedi of Coruscant have. It is a truth I've had to regret as I grew to feel as my only skills were refining just to be wasted. But as it always does, the time for warriors is returning. Master Daw has reunited our great Order, and I daresay the time for us to make ourselves known to the Galaxy, and to the wretched Empire of the Sith, is approaching."

It goes without saying that his smile had faded, becoming a stern look of focus with his brow thoroughly furrowed. And then Ze'kyre smirks, and a sense of excited anticipation pulses strongly from the Holocron, resonating through the room like the lasting ring of a well-tuned bell.

"My people, the Echani, have always been known for their martial prowess. From an early age we are taught to communicate and express ourselves through combat. We are born with all the genetic dispositions of our parent of the corresponding gender, unlike other humanoid species, so honing a keen martial sense is the only way to tell who is who. This may strike most as a curse, but this sense allows one to tell truly who your adversary is. You can never know someone until you've looked each other eye to eye, and gone toe to toe.

"This is a trait that can be taught through the first three tiers of Echani art, but I am here to speak on more complex styles developed by my people. The Way of the Warrior, encompassed within the Sublime Arts of the Seven, have been sacred to the Eshan monasteries, rarely taught to members of even the most prestigious clans, and I have spent the last ten years internalizing these Sublime arts into a Lightsaber Form. I was adopted by the Eshan Monastery as a child, and the monks there introduced me to this path. I have spent near every waking hour, even as a youngling, dedicated to this way of life. It has brought me strength, agility, but most importantly, balance, and it is something I would like to share with the other Knights of the Order - in an attempt to strengthen our virtues as Guardians of the Great Dragon - The Force, as my people know her.

"As I made clear before, I am no Jedi Master, but I have had the opportunity to mentor others as I learned from them. The student is always a teacher, and a wise teacher will remember that he is still a student. This osmosis of experience has always proved useful for the Jedi and the Eshan monks, We are the first of a new generation of warriors, our predecessor's gave their lives so that we may continue learning, growing, and bringing balance to the Force. It is of paramount importance we do not let this sacrifice be in vain, or our Order will fall to the Dark Side.

The Way of the Warrior

The Sublime Seven dances of the Eshan monasteries were used to police the growing number of clans amongst the Echani. The monks of Eshan were much like the Jedi, maintaining a balance in a world that grew more and more divided through politics, especially with the expansion of the Echani people onto different planets, and the confederation of the Six Sisters. Many were Force sensitive, as most clans mistrust the Great Dragon's power, and would send such individuals to the monks, but all were masters of close quarters combat, for the body must be mastered before the rest of the self. So expert are these monks that seniors could hold entire contests in their minds alone, both knowing the victor with neither so much as twitching a muscle. But this is a capability known only to the most expert of the Diamond Mind.

The Desert Panther is a style that emphasizes speed and agility. Overwhelming balance and footwork allow the practitioner to overcome any challenge with flurries of attacks that easily daze unsuspecting combatants. Flexibility helps with uncommon moves focusing on attacking and evading at the same time, and the focus on a quick reaction time gives room for patience. Harness all the furies of the desert wastes to confuse and devastate opponents who leave even a slight opening.

The Stone Serpent epitomizes raw power drawn from a basis of flawless and graceful technique. Harnessing the strength of conviction and willpower, the Stone Serpent utilizes devastatingly powerful strikes from close range, combined with powerful leaps to close distances and strike with the elbows and knees. Quick combinations are also used to confuse opponents and close the gap for the real attacks the Stone Serpent has always been known for, the sort that shatter duracrete with ease.

The Nexu Claw. Rationalization is the enemy of instinct. Unleash your most primal desires though combat, like a hunter springing after its prey. Practitioners of the Nexu Claw know to tear aside the thin veneer of civilization, and to quickly, brutally, and efficiently put down their prey before it ever has a chance to retaliate. I am unwilling to talk at length about this style, at least in a Holocron.

An adept of the the Setting Sun dares not to ask what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, but knows that any force can be redirected. This martial art is effective for turning an opponents strength upon them, making use of a great number of soft style techniques and takedowns that most effectively require the opponent to counter-attack. Opponents tend to frustratingly find themselves on their backs over and over again, however it would not be hard in any case for them to also end up with a broken limb, at the practitioners discretion, of course.

The Steel Heart. These Swordsmen were renowned for their prowess with the katana and other varieties of blades, and are actually the originators of a technique that Vibroblades based their whole existence on, using fast twitch muscles all throughout their body to make their blades vibrate visciously at the point of contact. Shii-Cho seems to be almost entirely based on this ancient Art, leading me to believe perhaps echani had influenced the original Swordmasters of the Je'daii. Make no mistake, the use of a lightsaber and the use of a weighted sword are extremely different. Practitioners of the Steel Heart even have many techniques just to draw their blade, some being so proficient that they could slay a lightsaber-wielder before their blade fully ignites. A wide variety of thoroughly taxing-to-train technique can also see a lightsaber used quite surprisingly, despite similarities to the most simple of lightsaber Forms.

The Devoted Spirit teaches one to triumph in the face of any and all adversity. By summoning all the power of the higher self, and coating oneself in the spiritual energy that the power of the heart can create, one can teach themselves to withstand any pressure, or find the strength to overcome any foe. Mastery of the Devoted Spirit is not something one attains on their own, and can never truly be learned by most warriors, for the Devoted Spirit is granted not only for your love of others but for their love of you.

The Diamond Mind, I mentioned earlier. Masters of the Diamond Mind used to be revered as the top generals of the Echani, before the ancient arts were forbidden to the clans and forgotten. Their strength came in knowing that the diamond is beautiful for where it shines, as well as where it does not. It is important for us as Jedi to understand this, and consider its implication on the Light and Dark of the Force. We'll never really know how many facets there are to the sentient mind, or how much potential is in any soul, but advocates of the Diamond Mind learn to harness such infinite potential through combat. There is little in the way of surprise for the sense of awareness that accompanies this mental state, and they will use any advantage, especially environmental, to ensure their victory.

"The mind set of Juyo, as does late Master Windu's Vaapad, calls for a dangerous passion, that is where it draws it's strength. But I dare to say... I love battle. The act of fighting, though often ugly and destructive, makes ways for the art of creation, which can always be beautiful and expressive. Though we as Jedi must take care not to wade into battle thoughtlessly, neither should we fear it. Myself, I was bred to be a warrior before I was ever taken in by the Jedi, and so I approached the broken down base of Juyo with a Niman philosophy, and began to reconstruct Form VII in numerous ways. I've developed whole sets of movements for each of the Sublime Arts. It is not so much a lightsaber form as it is several, and I call this Form Eshan - named after the home planet of my people. This Holocron is not programmed to teach these arts, nor do I suspect any amongst the Jedi will be proficient enough with renowned first tier of Echani Art to begin their practice, but to any Jedi that seeks me out, I will personally help you on your path. It is my hope to share my knowledge all Jedi who are willing to learn.

"These are dark times, brothers, sisters, but our sleeping Order has awakened. It is due time we shine a light on the Empire that burns right through their darkened hearts. As Jedi we must believe in what we fight for, our blades will strike true. So as we continue to wade through war, may the peace we fight for blossom from our footsteps."
