Think Tank Applications
Thank you all so much for the positive reception you've given to all of the announcements about Star Wars: Dawn of the Republic so far. When admins work on a pitch for a new timeline, or really any idea, it's largely done in a vacuum. We never know how it's going to be received, so to have the work we've put into this be met with a near-unanimous reception is very gratifying.
But, as is the case with any new timeline, we only form the basis in that vacuum. Now is the time when we open up the remainder of the development for the new timeline to more people.
As with all past timeline changes, our next step is to put together a think tank of administrators, faction leaders, and other members who will collaborate on developing the story and the factions based on what we have already announced and decided. All administrators and current faction leaders are part of this process. Now, we are going to begin the process of deciding who the six (6) members who will join us in the think tank.
You may nominate yourself. This isn't a vote, so the amount of nominations you receive is not a determining factor in whether you are part of the think tank. We will assess each nominee based on what we think they can bring to the table, ensuring that they represent a broad range of people, and what they say in their answers to the following questions:
- Why do you want to be in the think tank, and what do you think you will be able to contribute?
- How much time can you spend per day working in the think tank and, potentially, creating write ups that may be assigned to you?
- How will you handle disagreements with other members of the think tank? Even if you don't agree with a decision that's been made, are you prepared to support it?
- What ideas or suggestions do you have for improvements to the role-playing experience?
One other quick note. As most of you know, in addition to the war, we've also had a mythology story involving our 11-year-long site lore and the Skywalker storyline that ran alongside of the war. This has become known as the "Legacies storyline." In order to begin the new timeline as quickly as possible, and so the ending of the war remains as player-driven as we always said it would be, we will be writing the ending to the Legacies storyline after this timeline ends. This will be a wrap of the site's entire lore, with the final few weeks of role-playing serving as the end of the timeline itself. We will either write it as a series of Diverse RP or in short novelized form.
So, we will begin Dawn of the Republic in January once the think tank finishes its development, and over the next few months you'll also see the conclusion of the storyline involving the Empress, the Chosen One, and the Skywalker legacy.
