Akkali sat in the passenger seat of the Bog Standard holding a small book in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Her eyes scanned the pages lazily, and for the first time in maybe fifteen minutes Akkali became suddenly aware that she'd read the been reading the same paragraph over and over again.

Sighing loudly, she turned to look the pilot of their ratchet shit box: her sister, Reikki. Finishing what was left of her smoke, Akkali snubbed it out in a nearby ceramic dish before reaching over and pushing her sister on her arm.

For the love of the Queen Mother, is it possible for you to go any slower, Rei? She asked, her tone overly dramatic. I feel like we've been flying for fucking ages already.

Truth is, Akkali wasn't even sure how long they'd been flying. Could have only been an hour for all she knew. What she did know, though, was that she was incredibly bored and wanted nothing more than for her feet to feel the soothing touch of solid ground again. She didn't like to admit it, but flying always made her feel uneasy and restless.

Do you even remember where we are going? Based on how often you forget to pick up after yourself, it wouldn't surprise me if you'd forgotten as soon as Kaiyak had told you.

Standing up, Akkali went over behind Reikki's chair and pulled her hair into a tight, high ponytail, tying it off with the elastic she had around her wrist. Given that she was the eldest sibling - by several very important, crucial minutes mind you - Akkali always felt the need to "help" her sisters when she thought it prudent.

I don't know how many times I've asked you to keep your hair out of your eyes when you're trying to fly. I'd like to make it there alive, if you have it in you.

Going back over to her seat, Akkali took out her book and started reading the same paragraph again before stopping halfway and asking:

Where is Kaiyak anyway?

She liked flying. It didn't matter if it was the large predatory birds they had domesticated on Dathomir or this flea market ship the three of them had claimed as their own (it doesn't count as stealing if the old owner was killed is dead). As different as they were, she liked them both. In this case, she basically got to relax by herself and read under the light of hyperspace while the navicomputer did ninety percent of the work. It wasn't the most fun part of flying, but it was certainly the most relaxing.

Unless, of course, one of her sisters decided to interrupt her in the middle of her book. Reikki had been vaguely aware that Akkali was nearby, but her sister had certainly not been talking and the smell of cigarra smoke was like air freshener on the ship.

Akklai pushed her arm, causing the woman to jump in her seat and hastily slam her book shut as she turned alarmingly toward her older sister. "Kali! Don't scare me like that!" she whined, trying to sneakily move the novel she'd been reading out of view and under her leg as she complained. The last thing she wanted was for either of her sisters to ask why she was reading a book called 'Thirty Shades of Black'. Or what it was about. Or why she was trying to hide it from them. Or-

"Yes I remember! I put it in the navicomputer," she protested yet again, squirming under Akkali's grasp as her sister decided that her hair needed to be up. "And I literally just did the dishes earlier, leave me aloooooone." She'd been better. It wasn't her fault if she got distracted by her books. They were just so entic- entertaining!

'Whatever.' Deciding not to fight her sister on this, Reikki begrudgingly let Akkali put her hair up. When her sister went to sit back down she slowly inched her book back out from under her thigh, just to shove it back the second her sister opened up her mouth again.

"Um, she said she was going to take a shower, I think," Reikki responded, glancing back down the hall toward where Kaiyak would supposedly be. "You should take one after her," she suggested, deadpan. "I got a good ol' whiff of your B.O. about three seconds ago when you decided to mess with my hair."

Kaiyak was just finishing up in the refresher, freshly cleaned, freshly dressed, her hair wrapped up in a towel on top of her head like some sort of Clan mother. She could hear the bickering starting up from the cockpit of the Bog Standard, typical of her two sisters. Could they ever just get along?

No. The answer was no.

The scent of t'bac smoke drifted back through the ship, causing Kaiyak to scowl as she rubbed moisturizer on her face, one of the miracles of modern technology honestly. Marching up to where the other two were, she came in loud and angry.

"Honestly Akkali, what did I tell you about smoking in the ship?" She asked as she came to stand in the doorway, arms crossed. "The life support filter is allllready struggling, and you want to add that nasty t'bac smoke to the problem. We'll be lucky if the thing makes it to our next pay, and thats IF we even have enough leftover to replace it." She shot her older sister a look that was all spite before exhaling in exhasperation.

"Give me one of those." She said as she crossed the room and snatched the cigarette pack off the ship's console. "What am I going to do with you two." She muttered under her breath and rolled her eyes before lighting the smoke and taking a deep drag. Yeah, that was the good stuff.

"Are we there yet?" She asked as she sat her ass down on the console and faced her two sisters, looking at Reikki. An eyebrow shot up as she caught the girl trying to hide the book she had been reading. "Are you reading that trash again? You know it'll rot your brain right out of your head, right?" She rolled her eyes while hoping that neither of her snooping sisters had found the copy of Tusk Love that she had picked up at their last port call and was currently stashed under her mattress.

That's rich coming from you, Rei. You smell like a bantha's grundle baking in the midday heat.

Before Akkali could continue thinking up more creative and devastating insults about the level of stink Reikki exuded, her attention was drawn to her other sister who had suddenly appeared just to bully her. So typical, the two weirdos ganging up and being mean to the super cool guy™.

We wouldn't have to worry so much about making it to our next pay if you didn't have terrible skin and spend all of our money on facial cream, Kaiyak.

Despite the insults hurling back in forth, Akkali wasn't going to protest to Kaiyak bumming a cig for the millionth time. Communal resources was something that always came naturally to the Nightsisters, so it was no different now they were on their own.

Sinking back into her chair, Akkali sighed for a moment before once again the boredom of hyperspace seeped back in and she got a little lizard idea in her little lizard brain. Earlier, Akkali had been looking for something in Kaiyak's room and had stumbled upon a little novel called Tusk Love. She was going to save it for future leverage, but she was bored and it seemed like a perfect time more than any other.

Hey Rei, Akali said, lighting another cigarette before pushing her sister on the arm again, a mischievous smirk creasing the corners of her lips. Did you know that our dearest sister here has a Wermal fetish? I saw a copy of a rather interesting smut novel in her room earlier today.

Having sufficiently dropped her bomb, Akkali went back to enjoying her cigarette, waiting gleefully at the events that were about to unfurl.

Or at least, that's what she hoped.

"No," Rei answered in response to Kaiyak's question as she tried to shift her thigh to hide the book. "It'll be a few more hours still since Cyborra is a little out of the way." Unfortunately, her attempt to hide the book was futile and her sister spotted it regardless. Rei's face burned bright red and she stammered to come up with a decent rebuttal. "Um, well- I'm- I didn't know it was smut okay! I thought it was just a romance novel..."

While she waited for the red in her face to go away, the tallest sister pretended to busy herself with ship things until Akkali dropped her little nugget of information. With a look of surprise on her face, Rei's eyes snapped to Kaiyak. "OH MY GODS WHAT?" Her jaw dropped and her lips began to widen into a smile. This was news!

"Awww Kaaaai! I didn't know you were into wermals!" Giggling mischievously, Rei continued to tease her sister. "I bet you think the lead singer of Pauhaus is cute then, huh? Got a thing for one-eyes?" Rei loved Pauhaus, but she didn't think she could ever attend one of their concerts. Not being into wermals aside... the little dudes supposedly stunk really badly. She didn't think she could enjoy their music if she was dry-heaving the whole time.

"Uuuuuuhhhhhh eeny meeny miny you're in charge of the navicomputer while I shower." Rei waved her finger back and forth in between Kai and Kali, eventually settling on Kai. She rolled out of her seat and hurriedly made her escape before Kali could protest. Though she'd suggested her sister needed to shower, Rei didn't want to be left without any hot water. Kali too way too long of showers. How was she supposed to take her long soaks if her sister stole all the hot water?

Rei disappeared into the wash room shortly thereafter, leaving her two sisters behind for now. Hopefully by the time she was done and dry it'd be time for her to drop them out of hyperspace and land them.

So apparently Akkali had snooped in her room. Kaiyak scowled at the Kali, glaring daggers as Rei teased and laughed before running of to get next dibs on the shower.

"I can't believe you snooped in my room." She huffed in frustration as she turned and took the now vacant pilot seat that Rei had vacated in such a hurry. There was a lump in the seat which Kaiyak reached for to discover that Rei had left her own book behind in her haste to take the shower.

"What's a wermal anyways?" She asked, looking at her sister angrily before casually flipping through the pages of the Thirty Shades of Black copy that Reikki had left behind. She had only gotten a little bit into her own book, and was really hoping for a spicy romance between T'chask and his new Weequay guide that he had liberated from Zygerrean slavers.

I don't think it counts as snooping when I was looking for one of my own shirts, Kai. Akkali said flatly, rolling her eyes as she pulled on the collar of the shirt she was wearing to show her sister that she had indeed found it.

They're kind of like if a mushling pod suddenly became fleshy and and smelled like raw sewage, and also grew an eyeball and started walking around. Akkali couldn't help but giggle and make a face at her own description, hoping that it really drove home the image.

IYou know I was reading a bit about Cyborrea and apparently they're somewhat well known for their vicious attack dogs. I think we should get one. It would be clear from Akkali's tone that she was entirely serious, though that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise for her sister.

She had always had a penchant for the more.. misunderstood creatures back on Dathomir.

Before she could really lay into her tirade of why they needed a super deadly attack dog, the console in front of them started beeping as the ship dropped out of hyperspace - something that she desperately wished technology would stop doing. It was always so loud.

Better get Reikki to hurry her shower up, looks like we're nearly there.

The ship's navicomputer guided the Bog Standard down through the atmosphere of Cyborrea and nestled itself in an open spot surrounded by thick treelines. Stashing her book away - though not out of embarrassment like her sisters, simply so she didn't lose it - Akkali went to a nearby storage locker to grab her equipment and head for the ramp outside.

Before doing that, though, she went to the latrine and flushed one of the toilets - just to make sure Reikki got the message that it was time to get going.

Laughing at her own little prank, Akkali headed outside so she could get a look at just where they were and to get an idea of where they might be going.

While her sisters stayed up front, Rei hurried back to the shower and proceeded to enjoy a nice, long, hot shower. One could argue that there was little reason to shower right before a job that would probably leave all three of them headed back dusty and dirty, but Rei wouldn't listen to such arguments. Showers were one of the few luxuries the ship provided. She'd just have to remember to refill their water tank when they landed on Cyborra.

Rei was out of the shower, drying off, and definitely not using her sister's expensive moisturizer when someone flushed a latrine. It startled the woman, causing her to knock her head up into the medicine cabinet above the sink. "Ow!" The Dathomiran rubbed the sore spot on the top of her head, irritated that she'd been spooked yet again. She really needed to work on that... somehow.

Despite her long ass shower, Reikki was at least quick to get dressed and meet her sisters outside. She quickly pulled on a pair of pants, wiggled into the rest of her clothes, then dawned a jacket and hurried down the ramp. Her little droid, Marshmallow, waddled after her until it reached the edge of the ship and called out, "I sent the coordinates to you so you three have no excuse if you get lost!" With the equivalent of a huff, the rotund droid turned around and waddled back to wherever it had come from. As it waddled away, it would pass by Kaiyak. "Both your sisters forgot bags! Better get bags for them so you aren't the only one carrying shit!"

"Sassy as ever," Reikki commented in the meantime, pulling out her GPS device to peer at the cords. "Umm, the GPS tracker says we need to head due North for a bit, then West...." The tallest sister squinted at the device screen. These things were always hard to read. "...and then we should be close enough to spot wherever we're going."

Once all three sisters were outside and ready to go, Reikki led the way. Assuming Kaiyak brought down the duffel bags they'd both forgotten, she'd sling one over her shoulder and then stash the GPS device in her pocket for now. If they got too far off course, it should beep at them.

"Is this a high gravity planet?" she asked after a few minutes, stretching her neck as she did. She felt heavier than usual. Every step was a bit more difficult than she was used to. And while it wasn't a hindrance, she could only imagine it might be fatiguing if they pushed themselves too hard.

Kaiyak noticed the shirt that Kali was wearing and scowled as her sister pointed it out. "Hey I was gonna wear that." There was a brief pause as her sister described a wermal in vivid detail and made a face. "Gross. Sounds like your kinda thing, you can have the book." She said making a face. Then the conversation turned to attack dogs, a much better subject.

"Maybe we can find some pups and raise them into hunting dogs." Kaiyak smiled at the idea. There were plenty of possibilities with that, though it wasn't quite a rancor.

The ship landed and Kaiyak ran back into the ship to grab her gear, running by Marshmallow who shouted about bags.

"I'll get them thaaanks." Kaiyak said to the little droid as she ran to her room, grabbing her plasma bow and her vibroblade. A devious smirk came to her face as she grabbed the book from under her bed and quickly snuck it into Akkali's room. Catching up with her sisters, she would look over Reikki's shoulder as she read the GPS tracker. Reaching out gently, Kaiyak took the tracker out of her sisters hand before turning it over and placing it back in her grasp.

"You forgot your book." She would say afterwards, giving Rei a small bap on the back of the head with the book before putting it in one of the extra bags and hanging it from her sisters shoulder. She handed the other extra bag to Akkali before stepping ahead and taking a deep breath while raising her arms. They felt heavier than they should and she looked back at Reikki as she asked her question.

"I think so." She nodded before setting forth. They had a few locations that they were to visit, and with the heavy gravity and the distance, Kaiyak hoped they weren't all tired out by the time they got to the first.

Sure seems that way, Akkali responded to the question about high gravity, her tone very obviously annoyed at the revelation.

She got the urge to drop the bag the rotund cat had "remembered" to gab for her given the gravity, but Akkali figured her sisters would probably be bitches about it if she did that so decided against it. Pushing further due north as her sister instructed, something interesting eventually caught Akkali's eye as she threw up a sign for her sisters to slow up.

Pushing a little bit off of the somewhat-of-a-path they'd been following, Akkali bent down to one knee and ran her fingers over an impressively large impression in the dirt.

Something big and clawed passed through here very recently. Definitely something to look out for -

Before Akkali could say anything else, her ears picked up the sound of low growling and rustling in the nearby treeline. Before she could shout to her sisters, nine fearsome looking dog-like creatures stampeded towards her, their jaws nipping at the air aggressively as drool dripped from their maws.

Fuck! Akkali shouted, rolling just out of the way of the pack before it smashed right into her.

Getting back to her feet, she drew her blaster and tried to take aim. Hopefully her sisters would be able to handle themselves and she wouldn't be picking pieces of them out of dog jaws.

A book to the back of the head after she'd already smacked the front of her head earlier was not welcomed, and Kai would be made well aware of that after Rei vocalized her displeasure and gave her sister an irritable smack on the arm. She'd been spooked... again! But she did manage to mutter a thanks for both the book and the bag.

"We'll just have to be easy on ourselves I guess," she said absentmindedly, glancing about their surroundings without much care for any one thing she saw. They seemed to be romping about in a pretty standard forest. Nothing special this far. "Its weird how green everything is," she commented as she snatched a leaf from a nearby branch. Dathomir flora tended to be in shades of red, orange or brown. Yellow on the occasion, but rarely ever green.

"Oh! Remember when we-" Rei cut herself short, trailing off as she noticed Akkali investing something. But her sister was cut off too. Not by words, but by nine creatures snapping and growling as they charged onto the path.

"Oh, shit!" Surprised equally by the ambush and by how soon they were accosted during their short time here, Rei's first reaction was to lob a hastened ball of ichor right at the closest one.

Unfortunately that ball of ichor was very poorly aimed and flew right over the head of the nek charging right at her. It tackled her, pinning her against the ground. Rei managed to conjure a sickly green barrier in front of her, and it served as a shield between her and the nek. Still, she was pinned down and doing her best just to keep the thing from biting her face off.

"Ack- KAIII!"

One moment they were walking along, talking and bickering in the oppressive gravity of the world, the next...

Surrounds by a pack of Neks. The Nek dogs snarled, drool dripping from the teeth in their mouths.

Kaiyak's plasma bow was out in a flash, extending from its collapsed state as a Nek rushed at her sister. She took aim as the Nek thrashed against her sisters shield only to be surprised by another snarling maw coming straight at her.

There was a brief tug as Kaiyak rolled back, empty-handed. She looked up to see her own attacker clenching the plasma bow in its jaw, snarling and shaking its head before. CRUNCH. The bow snapped in its mouth, falling to the ground in pieces as Kaiyak drew her vibroblade.

"Uhh. A little busy here Rei. Kali! Help her!" Kaiyak shouted as she waved the vibroblade in the direction of the Nek that was now stalking towards her, cutting her off from her sisters.

One Nek, two Neks, three Neks. Four. Four of the beasts stood between her and the other girls as they circled in as a pack. Kaiyak gulped in fear.

Well, things certainly seemed to be going downhill very quickly. Akkali's wish that her sisters would be able to pick up the slack and make up for getting ambushed went incredibly unanswered. Their Nightsister training seemed to vanish entirely as Reikki and Kaiyak seemed to be in even more dire situations than she was.

Reaching out her hand, Akkali enveloped the nek pinning down Reikki, able to lift it off the ground and send it flying away in the air, far enough that her sister should be able to get back to her feet and recover.

Turning her head towards Kaiyak, Akkali raised her blaster to take fire at the nek attacking her other sister. Just as she was pulling the trigger, her aim dead on, she was blindsided by another nek. Still, her finger tugged on the trigger and the blaster fired. Instead of slamming into the dog, the shot was entirely errant and was now headed directly for her sisters leg.

Well, this certainly wasn't going very well. Akkali's blaster pistol went flying as she as knocked to the ground, landing several meters away from her. Rolling onto her stomach, Akkali pulled out her dagger as the nek that tackled her rounded, and made a made dash straight for her.

Rei continued to wrestle under the weight of the Nek, pushing her face back as far from the canine's snapping jaws as she could as she struggled to maintain the barrier between them. Her arms were starting to ache and she knew that she couldn't keep it up forward. Luckily, Akkali came to her rescue before it reached that point.

"Agh!" Finally freed, Rei rolled back onto her feet and threw out a concussive ball of ichor just in time to clock a charging Nek right in the face with it. It both stunned the Nek and likely blinded it as it struck, giving Rei just enough time to channel the ur-spirits into her next attack. She had to be quick about it, so it wouldn't be as strong as it could, but there wasn't many other options for her.

"Sgel ruof no nur taht esoht dnib dna dnuorg eht morf htrof tsrub!" Calling upon the green ur-spirits that dwelled beneath them in Dathomiri, Rei channeled her will through the shadow to call a surge forth from the ground. The roots of the trees burst through the ground and.... did nothing but break up the ground beneath all of them.

"Fuck, come on!" She was hoping to pull through under the pressure, but she was just too frazzled. The Nightsister didn't have too much time to get frustrated with herself for not being able to summon such magick so quickly, so she threw it aside and threw another concussive bolt at the closest Nek. This one struck true. 'One down... however many to go.'

A resounding blaster shot caught Rei's attention, and she watched just in time as her sister (presumably) accidentally shot her other sister. "KAI!" First concern for her sister who'd been shot. "AKKALI WHAT THE FUCK?" Then anger toward her other sister for shooting her.

Rei went running toward Kai, only to trip on the disrupted ground she'd conjured up and just barely avoid faceplanting into the dirt.

Kaiyak glanced around, her eyes beginning to grow frantic. The Nek dog's were vicious predators who had pulled off a near perfect ambush on the three would be predators and things were beginning to look grim. Four neks had cut Kaiyak off from her sisters and were closing in on her, teeth bared and dripping with drool as they imagined the dathomiran as their next meal.

Kaiyak's eyes narrowed as she squared off with the centermost dog, with two closing in on the left and one on her right. There was a moment of silence within the Nightsister as she felt a stirring within the shadow. A critical moment, the thing line between life and death. There was a slight shifting of the Nek's form, just before it pounced. The moment that Kaiyak was waiting for.

She sprang forward's, jumping as the sound of a blaster echoed in the air. There was a lurch of pain in her calf before it went numb, but her momentum wouldn't be stopped and she managed to sink her vibroblade into the neck of the nek as she rolled over her back. She would come out of the roll in a defensive stance... or at least she would have if her right leg would have held her weight. Instead she landed, attempting to stand up in a defensive stance.

Her leg gave out from under her however and her momentum sent her rolling towards her sisters, tumbling limb over limb until she came to a stop, groaning. Glancing over towards the four neks, she saw one on the ground, dead, her vibroblade lodged at the base of it's neck.

The other three were turning around towards her, still eager for the kill. She looked down and winced. Smoke rose from her calf and she could see that the meat there was charred and burnt with a chunk missing. The pain came roaring in as she saw it and she growled as she attempted to hobble up onto one leg, glancing over at her sister holding the smoking gun in her hand.

"Akkali. What the fuck?" She gritted out quickly, panting as she turned her attention back at the three Nek's closing in on her.

Akkali heard both of her sister's exclamations at the same time and immediately knew what had happened despite her attention being obviously pulled elsewhere. Guilt ran through her like someone had dumped ice water on her head but now really wasn't the time for prolonged apologies.

Sorry! Was all she could manage while Akkali stared down the barrel of a charging nek.

Gripping her dagger, she reached out with her hand to coil tendrils made of green ichor around the best just as it jumped toward her. Controlling its trajectory with her tendrils, Akkali brought the nek right towards the business end of her dagger, slicing its throat cleanly before tossing it to the ground.

Trying to think of something she could do to help her sister, Akkali shot out a ball of green ichor in an attempt to snipe one of the neks attacking Kaiyak. Unfortunately her aim seemed to be entirely off as the ball went soaring over all of the neks and slammed into a nearby tee.

By the Queen mother, this couldn't possibly go any worse.

Reikki had avoided a total faceplant by throwing out her forearm to brace her fall, but the limb made contact with a particularly rough root and lacerated her exposed skin. The Dathomirian woman sharply sucked in through her teeth as the pain shocked her nervous system, but the adrenaline that was fueling her right now at least made it bearable. Knowing that her sister was shot and severely injured instilled a more primal determination in her too.

"Dnah ym ot drows!" A short incantation to focus her intentions, a long green blade was drawn straight from the spirit ichor and materialized in the woman's hand. Back up on her feet, Rei took three strides and leapt toward Kaiyak, drawing her weapon upward as she stabbed it down as hard as she could muster. The blade found purchase in one of the three neks that were encroaching on her sister, piercing through its thick hide, through its neck, and puncturing the creature's throat. If it didn't die immediately, it would suffocate in its own blood.

Rei yanked the blade out as she pushed off the back of the crumpling creature, landing unsteadily on the broken ground. After she regained her balance, she yelled out, "KAI, CATCH!" She tossed the blade toward her injured sister, and thanks to the magicks they both commanded, it would make a perfect arc between them. Which was well and good because while one of the three - now two - neks had turned their attention to Rei, the other was still intent on mauling her sister.

Blood began to drip down Rei's arm, and she could feel exhaustion starting to weigh heavier than normal on her body as she turned to square off with the nek. It charged as she summoned a concussive ball of ichor and shot it square into the canine's face.

Kaiyak heard Kali's excuse for an apology as she faced down the three Neks that were growling at her. Her leg didn't hold her weight and she just sort of hobbled there with the majority of her weight on one leg, holding her hands crooked and ready to begin casting a spell.

She did know one thing as she stared down the lead Nek. If they survived this, Alkkali was doing all of her share of the cleaning for the rest of her life.

Before the Nek could pounce and gobble her up, her other sister leaped to her defense with a glowing sword of magick pulled straight through the veil. "Thanks." Kaiyak said painfully as the words went through gritted teeth. She caught the sword out of the air, wobbling her arms a little as she kept her balance.

Right up until the Nek pounced.

Kaiyak gave out a scream as the massive maw flew towards her, life flashing before her eyes. Oh right, the sword. She thrust forwards with the sword as the Nek collided with her, green blade piercing through the top of it's mouth and out the top of it's skull.

That of course did nothing to arrest it's momentum and the dead Nek crashed into her. She fell to the ground in a heap of Nek and nightsister, wondering if this was how it all ended.

Despite desperately wanting to help her sisters - especially Kaiyak, considering Akkali had just shot her - there were far more pressing matters to attend to.

Without her noticing quite how it happened, Akkali was now surrounded by three neks and she could swear each one was bigger than the last. She'd lost her gun but she still had her trusty vibroknife, though she sort of felt like the smallest sausage at the party compared to what she was staring down.

So she was going to try to end this nonsense all in one go. Maybe if she succeeded, Kaiyak wouldn't be so mad at her. Probably not, but hey, one could dream they wouldn't have to hear about a TOTAL ACCIDENT for the rest of their lives.

As the neks started to charge at her, Akkali decided to forego her knife and rely on her Nightsister magick like she should have from the start. With a thrust of her hand, she sent out a bolt of ichor that collided directly with the face of one nek, cracking its skull like a coconut and killing it instantly.

She attempted to do the same to the second, though her bolt only grazed the beast, sending it scurrying for a moment. It would return when the shock of the pain wore off, but at least Akkali wasn't being attacked right this moment.

Well, that was until the third one arrived faster than she could react. It gnashed its jaws at her left arm, tearing a chunk of flesh from her forearm.

Anger flared in the Nightsister as pain radiated from her wound, blood leaking down her arm and dripping from her fingers.

Her gaze flicked to her sisters to see how things were going, hoping they were at least alive still. Coping with her injury while she had the time, Akkali felt magick growing within her as she readied herself to hopefully finish things and tend to her sisters.

Kaiyak felt the weight of the Nek laying heavily atop her. She wiggled an arm free from under the beast as she glanced around, spotting Akkali surrounded by a trio of Neks.

"Ybod ym ffo tsaeb siht tfil ot wodahs ouy no llac I!" Kaiyak shouted out with what little breath she could hold in her lungs as she reached with in her. Down. Down. Down. Into the hidden part of her spirit where the shadow resided. The pain of the wound. The fear of death. The thrill of the kill. All of it she stoked and let burn up within her, coursing through her skin as the ichor in her veins.

Smoky green tendrils exuded from her. Her hands, her skin. They wrapped around the dead Nek that lay atop Kaiyak as she curled her fingers, willing the shadow to make the creature rise. The smoky green rose with her will and the Nek lifted several feet off the ground. Kaiyak glanced at her sister just as a Nek took a rip from her flesh and her eyes narrowed.

"Eof ym ekirts dna esproc siht gnilf!" The Nightsister shouted from the ground, her hand twisting to lay her palm flat up towards the sky, fingers curled up. The fingers snapped flat at the end of her spell before she twisted her hand to point with two fingers at the Nek who had just bitten her sister.

The green mist ferried the corpse at speed, dissipating as the dead Nek slammed into the living one, sending them both tumbling. Her target was not dead, but it was temporarily tangled up and disoriented.

Kaiyak let her arm collapse as she released the magick. Her vision dimmed for a moment as her arm flopped to the ground and she stared up at the sky, breathing heavily. Her heart hammered in her chest and the ichor in her veins burned. She shuddered, wanting to do nothing more than curl up into a ball and lay there as pain and exhaustion swept through her. She wanted to close her eyes and sleep.

She didn't give in to the temptation though and instead twisted to turn over, slowly starting to push herself up out of her prone position.
