Ask Three's Company

[Reikki]

The concussive blast exploded against the nek's face, charring its skin and leaving a distinct but brief smell of burned flesh in the air. Unfortunately, the blast didn't kill the damned thing. The pain from the laceration on her arm had stolen away a bit of her concentration and weakened the blast upon creation. It did manage to blind the creature, but its blindness didn't prevent it from lunging forward and taking ahold of Reikki's leg.

"AGH! DAMN! DOG!" Now the second sister to have flesh torn from her leg, Reikki cried out in agonizing pain as the nek's razor-sharp teeth dug into her left leg. In her desperation, Reikki threw her hand onto the nek's head and dug her fingernails in, her eyes glowing green with summoned ichor. "TUO EDISin...morf MIH- ! AGH!"

With tears forming in her eyes from the pain, Reikki failed to finish her incantation and continued to get trashed about by the nek. Vision blurring from the tears, she turned her head and desperately reached out her other hand toward her sister Kai where she could see the green blade lying on the ground.

[Akkali]

Only three left. Manageable even under the worst of circumstances, and they were each definitely in the absolute shit tier bottom when it came to circumstances.

As Kaiyak tossed the corpse of one nek into another, Akkali found herself a bit of breathing room. Pulling her discarded pistol back to her hand, she levied it against the neck that had bitten her. The beast was distracted as it tried to get its bearings back, and Akkali was going to take advantage of that.

Cocking the hammer of her pistol so that it was firing Big Dick Boltsᵗᵐ, Akkali fired off two shots from her pistol. Both slammed into the neck and blew massive chunks out of it before the creature stopped moving, a low death rattle escaping its maw.

Turning her attention to the two remaining neks, Akkali channeled the magick that was building within her. Two green spikes of energy erupted from the ground beneath both animals, impaling them through the skulls at nearly the same time.

Finally freed of their attackers, Akkali rushed over to Kaiyak, sliding to a stop as she fell to her knees and started looking at her sister, hoping to the Queen Mother that she was still alive.

We need to get you back to the ship to recover. Can you move? Can you walk?

Head swiveling toward Reikki, Akkali was relieved to see her other sister too was still breathing.

What about you? Are you okay, Reikki?

Clearly the the least mangled, Akkali would do what she had to do to get her sisters back to the ship so they could assess the damage and patch up their wounds.

She just hoped she didn't have to carry both of their asses there at the same time.

[Kaiyak]

Kaiyak dragged herself up to one knee, glancing about and panting heavily. The field was covered in dead neks and not a small amount of Nightsister blood. Kaiyak was staring at her leg as Akkali rushed over to her. Her lower leg was blackened and scorched, a cavernous pit yawning in her calf where the bolt had blown through the meat of the limb. It was still steaming and she was pretty sure she could see an ember glow still sizzling insider her flesh where she had been shot.

"You... You shot me." Kaiyak said as she looked up at her sisters face with a crumpled look of fading shock and soaring pain. She winced and quickly looked down at the leg as the adrenaline that had pumped through her moments before began to fade away and a sickening, burning sensation replaced it. She looked over at Rei with gritted teeth, scarlet blood flowing from a jagged wound on her leg.

"I'm fine. Reikki's bleeding." She grunted out as she looked around at her surroundings. The ruptured earth and grasping roots that had so finely done nothing during the fight. The movements of the melee had brought her close to where her broken bow lay, close enough for her two reach out and grab the split pieces, laying them out in front of her.

"Hcnarb siht dnib. Htrae eht fo stoor." She whispered as she kneeled there, drawing up the shadow and herself one more time, exhaling a faint green mist into her cupped hands. Swirling the mist between her hands, she brought it down to the bow and root there on the ground. The root shifted and stretched, moving to wrap the pieces in a sturdy hold that formed a makeshift crutch out of roots and broken pieces of bow.

She shot a little glare Akkali's way before steadying herself on the crutch and pushing up to her feet, staggering just a little bit as she got the crutch under her arm to hold the weight of her blasted leg. "I can walk myself." She breathed as her blood burned once more, her vision blurring as her heart pounded for a moment. She swayed a bit before catching herself, turning and beginning to make her way back to the ship.

[Reikki]

The nek was dead, and Reikki was lucky that it had released it's vice grip on her leg before it keeled over and died. The nightsister sharply sucked air in through her gritted teeth as she slipped out of her t-shirt, pained by her wound. As quickly as she could being careful, Reikki tied the shirt tightly around the bite, putting pressure on it and hopefully keeping dirt out too. She'd have to get it treated as quickly as possible, though. Who knew what kind of bacteria and diseases these fuckers carried.

"I've been better," she answered her sister. Concentrating, Reikki summoned forth a walking stick-shaped object from the ichor and used that to support herself as she struggled to stand. With a pained expression she looked between Kaiyak and Akkali. While she and Kai were alive, they were too injured to carry on. They'd have to retreat, recuperate, and return at a later date.

"This sucks ass," she grumpily declared moments later. "Major ass. Rotten nydack ass."

She began to walk back, following Kai and accepting Kali's help if she wanted to give it. The three of them would make it back utterly exhausted from pain and fatigue. It was not a good day, but maybe next time they'd be more prepared.

Much more prepared, and a little more pissed off.
