Once again, there was distance. There was a heat that almost ached at the base of her spine and in her chest just remembering how a scant few moments ago, he had been beneath her. Seeing him this way, mussed slightly, only made it warmer. Anyone else would have been disappointed at the distance, the care he took to take steps back, but there was no mistaking the look in his eyes now.

An idea struck her then. She also took a brief drink of water, but when she replied her voice was quiet, a subtle challenge in them.
"Well, we'll never know until then," came her answer, staring back. Running a hand through her hair, he was still holding her tie. With a tug of her own in the Force, she crossed the distance to bring his own hair free of its' bun, a careful, gentle unraveling maneuver to bring his own tie into her hands.

He admitted liking her hair down. She had to admit... there was something attractive at seeing him a little mussy, black strands loose as well. No doubt he couldn't stand it, but she certainly enjoyed it.

"Now we're even," she replied quietly, staring straight up into silver eyes. Did she think he was cold before? She had been mistaken. His eyes had a brilliance that could burn.

Sevrin’s eyes widened as she abruptly crossed the distance and also undid his own hair. A hand reached up behind his head as long, black locks spilled down his back. Very few people had seen him with his hair down, and it made him appear far more like a traditional noble of Thustra. He looked more regal with his hair down, the fluted ears and angled face taking on a new form of beauty with this arrangement. His hair was always meant to be down.

He felt her take the tie back while he was distracted by his hair. Sevrin stared down at her, eyes visibly wider from the surprise of her quick retaliation. She was closer now, but he didn’t step back. His eyes matched hers in ferocity, a shift from the usual frost.

An eyebrow rose as she declared that they were even.

“Cheating now, are we?” He quipped with amusement at the use of Force. Without moving a muscle, the Force would coil around her legs and casually tug them out from beneath her in an attempt to make her suddenly drop on her rear. Sevrin couldn’t help the grin beginning to form on his face.

Seeing him surprised was quickly becoming a favorite pastime. Still, with the hair down, there was something about him that made her pause. She had thought him beautiful before, but it was more than that. Paired with silver eyes that glittered, positioned the way he was. Even a Miraluka would have found that image almost irresistible.

At his words, she opened her mouth to reply. She should have been more alert, cognizant of the sudden shift in the Force, but it was the gleam of amusement that stilled her, his words as well. She thudded to the ground in a huff, amber eyes wide in a surprise of her own...

Before laughter burst out. Genuine, light, her lips quirked into a mirroring half-grin. Some more of the frost eased, and amber eyes glittered.
"You just needed to let your hair down; I was only trying to help," came the quiet rejoinder, with a cock of a white brow.

The replying tug to his knees was given through the Force, as she attempted to stand once again. Round two it was, then.

Sevrin watched her drop like a sack of potatoes and he couldn’t help himself. A hand quickly came up to hide a smile, a soft series of coughs erupting to cover up the obvious snickering. He heard her laugh through it as well, the sound like music to his ears and bringing a whole new element of life to her. There was something very warm about it, and he couldn’t imagine this was the same woman that sat across the desk in her clinic that day. Silver gaze never left her as his hand hid his lips, the eyes betraying that he was smiling.

The Sephi fell into the same trap, unfortunately, and was caught off guard with the Force. Eyes widened as his knees suddenly buckled and he dropped unceremoniously on the ground next to her. He acted almost on instinct, doing what she did with her fall and adjusting the fall itself.

His leg swept hers to make her topple while she was attempting to stand while he was half seated on the mat.

“You don’t know when to quit, do you?” He called out with a grin.

Eyes narrowed slightly at his attempt to cover over the snickering, but she couldn't help the laugh that morphed into a cough at his own surprised falling again. However, she wasn't about to fall for her own trick, and quickly scooted back to get out of striking range, rising up to give him a sly smile.

"Of course not; victory will be mine one way or another," she replied, full lips twisting to a slightly smug grin. She knew if this were a real fight, she would have been handily defeated. Still, the lightsaber he had with him had been noted. She couldn't forget that moment the Bond happened on Nar Shaddaa; the difference between the frigidness of silver gaze then, to the warmth from them now.

No, she wasn't certain she could say no to him. Still, she wouldn't let him stay alone on the floor alone.

Closing the distance, her eyes glittered, preparing for retaliation.
"Surrender yet, Sevrin?"

Amariel moved lightning fast and out of range of his sweep. This was especially impressive considering he had quite a bit of reach. Sevrin ended up on the ground with a grin on his face, glancing up at the smug look on hers. She stepped over towards him and he remained on the ground, moving to a seated position.

“You are still standing and I am not, so I will yield… just this once,” Sevrin said as he looked up at her. His eyes still glinted with warmth, and it was clear it wasn’t something that graced them very often. The Sephi was normally very aloof and detached by nature, and he hadn’t allowed himself to ever really connect with others. There was something very simple about being around Amariel and just existing in her presence. It was surprisingly easy to do, and he didn’t have to think about his duties as a Jedi or the conflicts across the galaxy for just a moment.

Sevrin realized he was staring at her while processing his thoughts and looked away at last. He grabbed his hair tie and began to grasp at the locks of his hair to begin forming it into a bun again.

She gave a quiet laugh, stopping to settle down on the mat once more. Now that there wasn't active engaging in a spar, she could relax a little more, and she was curious. He had mentioned the Force Bond before as something that didn't normally happen; she wondered what all it entailed. The Force mystified her in many ways; she knew it could be used and manipulated to act for its' user, such as pushing or pulling, but there had also been lightning, fire, and pinning someone in place.

"I like yours down, as well."
It was a quiet admission, but she noted how he had stared, and looked away. He was normally very reserved emotionally, and it was difficult to get a good read on him, but she had started to pick up on subtle cues. She wanted to learn more, understand what drove the Sephi in the galaxy. He wasn't like any Jedi she had met before; perhaps on the surface similar to Jedi Master Hannibal, but that was a superficial similarity.

From what she could recall of Sephi physiology, they lived very long lives and matured slowly. No doubt he had been in practice for longer than she had. She eyed him for a moment longer, before speaking up again softly.
"I would like sparring again in the future if that's alright," and her head tilted slightly, carefully watching his expression. "Perhaps you could even teach me a few new things. Such as what this Bond is, and why I keep feeling drawn."

Sevrin paused what he was doing as she mentioned she liked his hair down. His gaze flicked back up to hers, his expression thoughtful and curious. He half considered letting his hair down again, but he had little desire to reveal that before the other Jedi and Sullustans. He decided on a midway point and simply put it in a ponytail.

“Down for just you then,” He said quietly. He prepared to get off the ground, but she sat down instead. Sevrin remained where he was, eyeing her curiously for a moment. The Sephi listened to the request for sparring, the amusement returning to his eyes as he recalled the way they kept dropping one another.

“We can spar whenever you wish.”

The end of her comments gave him pause. His face was back to being its default blank for just a moment, though it wasn’t frosty by any means. A single eyebrow rose as he spoke, “You being drawn to me has nothing to do with the bond,” He stated flatly, “The bond is a remnant of the trauma we shared when the incident on Nar Shaddaa happened. It means we are connected in a way through the Force. We can perceive traumas and pains the other feels and any distress or deep emotions. Often these bonds happen between Master and Student, or even among enemies.”

Sevrin paused for a moment as he quietly regarded her, “Are you attempting to find excuses for why you may find me appealing?” He couldn’t help the half grin that cracked across his face then.

She wondered how he would feel to wake up to in the morning. Looking at how his hair, even pulled from his features, could frame elfin features, how the black could intensify silver eyes. Curiosity sparked and flared from him like thin threads, amusement giving way to something else. Still... the warmth at his smile couldn't be ignored. Once again, she wanted to feel her hand over his chest. The lightning pattern scar was still there, but it was more than that.

"So you can feel what I do... no wonder you said doing your rounds around me could be distracting. I was being selfish..." she muttered, rubbing her brow with the heel of her hand with a grimace. "I've never... that is, I haven't..." she paused for a moment, but at his words, she had to utter a short laugh, then shrugged.

"You're appealing to many. I won't deny I desire you.." once again, eyes flickered up and down him carefully, and she could feel warmth in the base of her spine, crawling up her neck, "but that you intrigue me. You're very appealing, not only in looks. It is your mind, yourself that I find myself drawn to." Soft, direct, amber eyes stared into those of silver, and though there was an answering small smile curling on her lips, there was a weight there as well. "Am I appealing, then?" she teased softly, quirking a white brow. "Or do you just enjoy kicking my ass?"

Sevrin heard her draw a conclusion about him doing the rounds and his eyebrows furrowed, “No, I would be distracted because…” He trailed off then, staring at her quietly. Because he had grown to care for her. But words like that seemed exceptionally difficult and complicated to say aloud. Sevrin didn’t finish the sentence and let it linger instead.

Amariel, on the other hand, had no problems with being extremely direct. The Sephi sat there calmly as she spoke, very thoroughly explaining her attraction to him and being lighthearted at the end of it. He could only stare at her with his eyes slightly wide. There was just the slightest flush that rose to his face and he hoped it could be explained away because of the sparring session.

He was confident about his appearance, but his personality usually kept people at a great distance. Others found him unapproachable or too aloof. While they were drawn in by his looks, they soon crashed against the frozen wall that was his personality. Amariel appeared to charge right through the wall without any real issues and it threw him off.

“I do find you appealing,” He said quietly after a beat. There was no smile on his face, but the fire from before was in his eyes. He gazed into the ambers, “I feel more at ease with you than I have in a very long time,” Sevrin looked away and stared down at the mat, “You have wandered into my thoughts many times since we parted. I have..wanted to see you."

It was clear this was not the kind of admission he made very often. His fingers flexed and curled or he idly picked at a loose thread on the mat. Sevrin looked back up at her after a moment, pausing for a few seconds before he opened his mouth to talk again.

“Hey man! You’re still up!” A man’s voice called out as he stood at the doorway. It was a Mirialan Jedi dressed in gym clothing with a bag slung over his shoulder. His eyes went from cheery to curious as he glanced from Sevrin to Amariel.

“Kartos,” Sevrin said, and Amariel would notice the instant 180 as he went right back to his default stoic. The Sephi rose to stand, offering her a hand up and offering a polite, formal nod as he did so.

Kartos grinned widely at Amariel, “Evenin’, I’m Kartos. Did you manage to get more than two words outta this guy?” He chuckled as he set his bag down.

Sevrin stared blankly as he grabbed his water and took a sip.

“I brought some training sabers this time,” Kartos said happily, digging through the bag, “You said you’d show me some moves!”

“So I did…” Sevrin responded flatly, entirely unamused.

Surprise flared brightly in amber eyes at his own admission. Wanted to see her? Never, since Nar Shaddaa, had she expected that the Jedi wanted to see her. She had known he was attracted, but in her own mind, it was merely because of her exotic appearance in comparison to other Near Humans, the woman knew she was considered attractive, however, this was... different.

There was the urge to close distance again. It wouldn't have been hard. She even moved her hand forward, if she could just lean--

At the other voice cutting through, she turned her head towards the newcomer. It must have been the man he was looking for originally; disappointment flared deep in her chest like a snowfall, dampening the heat she felt from silver eyes earlier. She could sense the curiosity, perhaps even mild amusement. Still, Sevrin's own curtness was not much of a surprise; for a moment, she stared at his profile. A thought occurred to her, worth a try.

I know. I'm disappointed as well.

The thought was nudged to him, through the Bond. A quiet murmur, almost like a whisper into his ear, ghosting over his mind. Still... Kartos. She took Sevrin's hand to stand, and also gave a slight nod. However, once releasing, she flexed her fingers ever so slightly, out of sight of the other Jedi.

"You mean he's been talkative that much?" she inquired lightly to the other Jedi, giving a slight nod to Kartos. "Dr. Morata. A pleasure. Please, don't let me keep you... in fact, do you mind if I observe?" She slid a glance at Sevrin's direction, arching white brows. "I'm quite curious about these moves myself, and I'm not quite finished with my rounds either."

With that, she took a few backwards steps, then turned on one heel to pick up her water bottle to watch. There had been the clips of Byblos, but that was different.

Sevrin heard her voice through the Force and his eyes widened slightly. Externally, she would just see him glance over to look her way. The face remained blank, but the eyes were much softer. Kartos, thankfully, was delightfully oblivious. He chuckled at Amariel’s words and Sevrin walked over to grab a training saber.

When Amariel said she would watch, the Sephi eyed her curiously. He had no qualms with doing what he did in front of her before, but having her as an audience was different. Sevrin opened his mouth to lamely suggest that she go get some rest instead when Kartos charged at him.

The Sephi acted on reflex, training saber flipping in his hand as he countered the incoming horizontal strike with a diagonal one. He pressed off that connection, pivoting around the other man and ducking. Kartos whirled around with his saber and cut through air.

Sevrin swept in with his foot as he pivoted, hooking around Kartos’ legs to trip him. The other Jedi flipped backwards as a result, sending a blast of the Force to send Sevrin flying back. The Sephi flew back but oriented himself mid-air as his saber shot through the air at Kartos. Sevrin used the Force to negate the push but Kartos had the incoming saber collide against his thigh.

“Point!” Sevrin called out as he easily called the saber back to himself before the other man charged again. The two men moved almost too fast to follow, a whirlwind of motions as saber collided against saber. For being such a tall man, Sevrin moved with exceptional grace, as if he never touched the ground with his feet. It was clear that he was completely engaged in the duel and everything else blurred into the background. There was focus and discipline that nothing could distract from.

Until Kartos’ saber accidentally flew directly at Amariel’s face.

Before she even had to react, the saber cracked in half and collapsed to the ground.

“Oh shoot, sorry doctor!” Kartos said as he rushed over towards her. He glanced down at the shattered training saber, glancing at the Sephi with wide eyes, “Jeeze man, you didn’t have to completely wreck it..” He said grumpily.

Sevrin kept his poker face on and gave a vague shrug. Sweat lined his body and he took a swig of water. Kartos unhappily walked over to put the broken saber away and look for another one.

She hadn't mistaken his eyes. Once again, he seemed surprised, but the softness there was seen, noted. Giving a slight nod, she would move back to the punching bag as though to resume some of her routine, but at the initiated sequence all pretense was lost. Pressing an arm against the bag, she watched with remote features, but the eyes were sharp, noting.

Her gaze was focused solely on Sevrin.

Vaguely, she was aware of the counter-moves of the other Jedi. Even being knocked back, he seemed to move with a fluid grace through the air, and dimly she could recall his arms around her on Nar Shaddaa, flying. It must have felt like that. So focused was she on watching him, that she almost registered the training saber too late.

She had reacted out of instinct, one arm up as though to block, but it already clattered to the ground, broken in half. Amber eyes were wide, lips parted slightly as she stared at Sevrin for another beat, before she registered Kratos had said something. An apology, perhaps, but she missed it. Instead, she shook her head, giving a wry smile.
"No, it's my fault, I should have chosen a further-away bag. Thank you," she addressed to Sevrin instead, but her voice was quieter. "Nice reflexes."

With that, she picked up her water bottle again.

"I think I'll retire for the night; enjoy your spar," she inclined her head to both of them, but as she left, a whisper nudged towards him, a quiet suggestion through the Bond.

If you wouldn't mind, when you're finished there's something I would like to talk to you about.

Sevrin looked back at Amariel as she left. He opened his mouth to bid her goodnight, but heard the voice through the Force again. The Sephi stood there stiffly as she walked past both him and Kartos. He was lost in thought for a moment, almost missing an incoming attack again.

“The hell is up with you tonight?” Kartos called out as they engaged again.

“I am not sure what you mean.”

“You’re more...lively. It’s weird man!”

“.....”

Sabers clashed and both men were a blur of motions again. The sounds of their fight echoed far down the hall.

“And who’s that doctor? She’s pretty cu-”

Kartos found himself swept to the ground. He blinked from the abrupt sweep to the leg, glancing up at the Sephi. Sevrin had an amused look on his face as he casually twirled the training saber, “Perhaps less speculating and more focusing, yes?”

“Yes..” Kartos grumbled as he pushed himself up to his feet.

---

It wasn’t too long before Kartos decided he had been defeated enough times for one night. Sevrin helped him pack up and drank the rest of his water. He knew he needed a shower soon, but he decided he wouldn’t keep Amariel waiting much longer. He relied on the bond to help track her down, carrying his gym bag with him.

Sevrin was exhausted and sweaty, but he always felt great after a fight. He nodded at a few Jedi and Sullustans on the way, some of them eyeing him curiously upon seeing his exposed arms and shoulders. After a few minutes, he managed to find her again.

“Hey,” He said simply, “Everything all right?”

She had just barely enough time to jump in the refresher and change. By the time Sevrin came back, she was in the executive suite once more. She had changed into a white caftan, hair still damp on the ends but pulled over her shoulders. At the door chimes, she would allow him in, but she would guide him in.

Her heart was pounding. It wasn't nervousness that drove her, nor anxiety, but something deeper. Brighter than desire, a curiosity, a yearning.

"No," she answered simply, looking up at him. "Nothing's all right."

Her arms crossed beneath her chest as she looked up at him. Amber eyes blazed, her lips were thin with barely-held patience. But beneath that... there was warmth. Curiosity. She stared deep up into silver eyes, until finally, words would come. Quiet at first, a thin murmur, raising to her natural volume as she turned her head away, running a hand through her hair and suddenly breaking her stare from his as the door hissed shut behind him.

"I can't get you out of my head."

She waited a few beats, before looking up at him.
"Why is this? Why is it I look at you, and all I want is to be closer? The one person in the galaxy who saw me as a monster..." she broke off again, shaking her head.

When she spoke again, her voice was small, soft in the dimness of the suite.

"...I want you, Sevrin. Not just you, but all of it. Your thoughts, your feelings. And I don't know why, when it is you that should have hated me the most for what I was then." It was something that still lingered in the back of her mind. Had she atoned? Had she truly changed? All she knew was that when she knelt over him on the mat, she wanted him to close the distance. Her words weren't enough. She turned back up to look at him, lips parted slightly.

"I want you."

Sevrin had some inkling of what she may have wanted to say, but he could never have predicted this. He stood there in the doorway hit by the tidal wave of her words. He felt a tightness in his chest, and his face betrayed the surprise. The Sephi couldn’t help but admire her for the fierce way she was. She had no qualms about expressing what was on her mind, something he usually never struggled with. Yet he fumbled and could hardly navigate around this particular topic.

The Sephi stood there in silence, slick with sweat and his hair still slightly disheveled. He had clearly imagined himself in a much better state of attire when having a conversation like this with her. There were strong pulses of emotions and desire that came from her through from the bond, and it was enough to cause a slight flush to his face. It was becoming very clear that the confident and reserved Sephi was actually a bit shy.

Sevrin blinked at her, but he didn’t close the distance, eyes slightly wide still. His heart was pounding against his chest and he had to work to keep his face straight.

“Do you not....love another?” He managed to get out, still standing in surprise. However, through the bond it was quite clear he wasn’t recoiling from it. This was an area he didn’t venture often, and it took extra efforts to curb his thoughts. Spikes of desire manifested both in his eyes and through the emotions that would seep into her.

For a moment, just a moment, sensing the surprise from the Sephi, she wondered if she had gone too far or said too much. They had talked of attraction before, mutually agreeing that they both desired one another. But for her, desire had always been a clear line from love, an emotion that, as Ilana, she couldn't understand nor comprehend. If she loved no one, she could be broken by no one. Even with Malakai, though there had been a strong, deep connection and attachment, it hadn't been love as others perceived it.

She forced herself to remain still, fighting the urge to pace, close the distance, or run a hand through her hair again. Oddly, she felt that if she moved too much, spoke too much, he could spook. But he stood there, eyes wide, and for a moment, there was a fragment of hope.

At his words, pain throbbed in her chest dully. She could almost feel hollow blue eyes on her, feel the footfalls leaving her again. But the pain was less than it was, no longer as sharp nor as deep. Instead, she shook her head slightly, facing him.

"No. I thought I did, but... it was an old fear, Ilana clinging to someone. I'm not afraid anymore, of being alone... and I didn't love him."

It wasn't the same.

She could feel the spikes of desire pulsing through him, the same sharpness, the longing singing through the Bond, through the distance with want, and she slowly forced herself to take a step forward, slowly, and then another, looking up at him. Sweaty, disheveled, startled. An echo of how he felt, her own wants and desires, back to him, without guile or guise.

Giving him time to leave, if he wanted, to get space if he needed it. Or to close the distance, but amber eyes stared straight up into those of silver, and she would wait. She didn't want to wait until a next time, only to regret her inaction if something happened to him. She learned her lesson with Malakai and Corran; she wouldn't wait anymore to speak the truth.

Instead, she merely offered her hand up to him, palm up.
I want you.

Sevrin heard her words, and he knew they were true. He had sensed it even a while back when she touched on the topic before. It was even more obvious with the absence of Ilana. Silver eyes looked into the ambers that burned brighter than they ever had before. He felt more anxious now than he had facing a Sith Lord in a ship above Byblos.

He glanced down at the extended hand and he eyed it for a moment. She was clear as day and he needed to get over himself. The Sephi was incredibly shy, and his face was slightly flush still. Nevertheless, he grasped the hand and tugged her closer. He had held her before when he jumped up to buildings, but it felt entirely different now.

For a moment his silver gaze dropped from her eyes and then down to her lips, heat coursing through his body. His free hand slipped around her waist, still feeling nervous about liberally doing this. She would feel the flood of nervous emotions from him as this was clearly outside of his element. Sevrin looked back into her eyes again, a faint but rare smile gracing his lips.

“Let me court you, Amariel,” He said tenderly, holding her close. He wanted nothing more than to lean in, but he wanted to take her away from being a doctor in a war zone first.

“Because I want you too.”

Anxiety spiked bright through him as she held out her hand, and she wondered if she had made a mistake. If she had been too direct. He had hinted at a privileged past, same as her, and for their standings, there were rules, steps, boundaries. She never disobeyed them growing up, but there were times she broke them for the sheer spite of them. This was one of those moments. She would have started to pull back her hand, but at the last moment, his emotions began to shift.

He took her hand, and she released the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. He was tall enough, that when he tugged her closer, she could easily wrap her own arms around his own waist, looking up. Heat thudded from her spine up to her lips when he looked down at her, and she watched his silver eyes trace a path down to her lips and back up.

She twined her fingers with his, and at his words, the faintest smile also touched her lips. Amber eyes warmed, and the arm around his own waist pulled free. Her hand began to raise, at first lightly over his own chest, before further up. A light touch to slide against his jaw, then to his cheek in the barest touch of a caress.

The last time she had been in his arms, circumstances had been different. It felt like ages ago; in many ways it was.
"You can court me," she replied quietly, and for a moment, her thumb brushed close to his lips, before it lowered away from his face. "I didn't mean to drag you in just after training, though," she answered at last, grimacing slightly in self-depreciation. "I just... couldn't wait." Her palm pressed against his chest, and her voice rose between them. "Stay the night with me." It was more a request rather than a demand; until the need for emergency triage died down, she had very few spare hours, and she didn't want to waste them.

Every touch from her sent jolts through him, streaking from the surface of his skin to his bloodstream and sent back out till it traveled down his spine. He was not a stranger to desire, but he seldom acted on it. He felt her thumb brush close to his lips, the heat of her body against his. He didn’t hold back the emotions he felt. She would sense the desire, the nervousness and some tender feelings that were nestled beneath it all.

One of his hands came up to layer above hers, curling his fingers in between hers. He brought her hand up to gently kiss the tops of her fingers, keeping his gaze on hers. At that point he didn’t care how disheveled his hair was, or that he was sweaty. Everything else blurred into the background, and he forgot his training bag and the war outside.

Her request lingered on his mind, but he didn’t move away. Sevrin wanted to know her, wanted to understand her, wanted to see her when she wasn’t forced to play the role of Dr. Morata. And he wanted her to see him when he wasn’t simply a Jedi Knight.

“I will stay,” He said simply as he stepped in with her. He would keep her company and spend the night with her, but he was very proper and polite. She knew the high society ways of courting, and certain things would have to wait.
