Civilian Shuttle
Tatooine Desert
0630 Local Time
Theme
It had been a long time coming, but the respite wasn't a permanent thing and Bruce knew that long beforehand. But if one thing was certain, the middle-aged master certainly knew to seize all breaks no matter how long they'd last, and this would be no exception. Bruce had made the decision that he needed sometime away, sometime to think and reflect on all the actions that had happened up until this day. To achieve that solitude, the bardottan had secured a simple civilian shuttle craft that could act as a temporary shelter. The shuttle was no luxury liner, but it was certainly an excellent way to 'camp' with and still have all the amenities of a city, it was clever, and it was nice for a change. After securing the shuttle he had stocked it with essentials including equipment, food, drink, bedding, entertainment, and the works. He just wanted to be comfortable, especially given where he was going. Bruce's plan was a simple plan really, he wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Jedi Temples and their residence, he wanted to swerve away from large concentrations of Dark Side or Light Side energies - he wanted to disappear for just a few days; but not a true disappearing act of course and he could think of one planet where people often went to disappear due to his vastness.

That planet was Tatooine.

Although Bruce wanted to 'disappear' he didn't choose to do it alone, no, company would be a welcoming break especially because he wasn't going into self-imposed exile or anything. He had asked a young Jedi he'd been interact with on various levels, a Jedi he first met on Ellora and since that day he had been impressed. The Jedi he wanted to join him on this break was an individual who he was surprised he had never encounter before given their own calling and given their impressive talents. His companion for this mission was a healer like himself, but though a healer, they had suffered a great loss - and by choice. They had done an extreme tactic but it had worked, the damage wasn't repairable by the Jedi Healers - at least not yet. The young Jedi Master had exemplary psychic talents that they'd demonstrated on many occasions, and Bruce wanted to work with them to help the young master gain control and understanding - and perhaps in time he could help solve the physical damage wrought upon the young raven haired master; and of course he'd hoped the make a friend out of the master with an ice glow in their eyes.

That Master was Jinlo Halan.

The Bardottan Jedi Master had developed a friendly attachment to the young master's gifts with the psychic energies she had flowing through her and it wasn't hard for Bruce to make note of how her body reacted to her use of her abilities. Noting how her eyes would change, noting how she often kept the restraints on the abilities, to him he suspected he had sensed a hesitance in using the natural gifts bestowed upon the raven haired Jedi. It was true, Bruce hadn't had much time to talk with Jinlo as each time they were generally in a situation where someone or something wanted to kill them - a rather difficult situation to try and have a casual conversation. But when Bruce had made the decision to simply scurry away for a short while, he couldn't help but to use that as an opportunity to ask her; that was Bruce. Someone needed help with understanding, and there was knowledge to gain - a new challenge to undertake, Bruce could ask for nothing more; but unlike others he had no desire for power nor did he want to seize such abilities for himself.

Had the young girl decline the invite, he would have done this trip anyways - it would have just been a little quieter.

It was early morning on Tatooine, and there wasn't any civilization to be found for quite some distance in any direction. What Bruce had done was take the shuttle and find a more secluded area of Tatooine, which wasn't difficult given the vast deserts and quiet honestly, Tatooine's port authority wasn't exactly on top of flights or even concerned with who was coming or going and where they were going - that's what made this lawless backwater planet so appealing for this decision. What would he have to contend with in the end? Tusken Raiders, Raiders, Gangsters. All which posed really no threat to the Master. The purpose of this little excursion was to meditate and study the inner workings of his own being, allow him some peace to meditate and understand.

Bruce got up from the desk located in his cabin he had arrived on Tatooine late and the flight was a little tiring. The cabins were simple in design, a single bed and a desk to work on. This particular shuttle was designed with 3 cabins all about the same size. The bardottan exited out of his cabin before making his way to the small galley, which contained all the basic necessities. He pulled a ready-made kind of meal from the refrigerator prepping it for himself and then having a seat when it was ready.

Jinlo would of course have her own cabin.

The shuttle was simple and Bruce was somewhat enjoying himself with the mere idea; it was a mobile home really. It had 3 cabins to call home (1 cabin was slightly larger than the other two which would flank the larger one), they had a fully equipped refresher (maximum comfort for a single individual - no claustrophobic sizes here) just before you entered the entertainment area which contained a couch and a single chair, access to multiple holovids and a holoscreen (Bruce would typically have the news on - but he wanted to shut the world out a bit, that was the goal. Besides, signal was weak in the desert...), the galley was a bit cramped but fully functional; containing a small table that would fit 2 comfortably - just off the entertaining area; and lastly of course the cockpit dominated the front of the shuttle which oversaw the entertaining area as they were connected in an open-concept type of system.

As for all the technical stuff, that was actually underneath the living area; but those halls were considered small compared to the living area; those areas could be accessed by climbing down a shaft located near the sleeping area and when you got down into the guts of the ship, well you had to be careful since the bulkheads were low.

Bruce had taken up a position at the dining table in the galley, he looked out at the twins suns as they crept up to greet the vast deserts surrounding them. He was mostly content, but he was also eager to get to work with Jinlo on a more personal level, because realistically - how could you trust your companions if you didn't take the time to actually talk to them outside of trying to protect yourself from blaster fire or dodging a claw of some horrible twisted darkside abomination?

It was certainly difficult.

Stirring out of her meditation within her quarters within the civilian shuttle. The raven haired Jedi Master slowly opened her eyes, the intense white hue of her irises subduing to a light Ice blue glow as she released the Force energies that had been flowing through her since waking in the early hours of the morning, the joys of interstellar travel! Constantly wrecked havoc with the inner body clock. Turning her gaze towards the wall mounted chronometer Jinlo nodded simply in reaction to the time being displayed, it was creeping close to 7am, a little bit more of a sociable hour to start moving about the ship, without having to worry about disturbing the Bardottan Master that had invited her to the little impromptu retreat.

Getting to her feet, the young Jedi master fastened her Kyber crystal into her simple silver necklace, before stepping over towards the bedside dresser. The raven haired Master reached down and picked up a broad leather wristband, and fastened it securely around her wrist. Removing the outer cover of the wrist band, revealing a small simple device that had been fashioned into the leather bindings. An alabaster finger pressing on the power button, allowing the device to power up and the small integrated screen to flash into life.

Turning to face the mirror the young woman looked herself over, straightening out the long flowing white linen skirt before adjusting her simple white top. As soon as she had found that the destination was Tatooine, Jinlo made sure to pack her holdall with light coloured linen clothing to be sure that she didn't find herself coming down with heat stroke during the brief excursion to the desert planet.

Once satisfied that she was presentable, Jinlo turned and headed out through the bulkhead connecting her quarters to the main corridor. Pacing her way towards the central living space, her gaze settled on the male Jedi Master. A warm smile crossing her features as her ice blue gaze met Bruce's. "Morning Master Guleya, trust you rested well?" Jinlo spoke as she stepped into the living space, clocking her fellow master sitting and picking at a pre-prepared meal. Keeping an eye out on the screen on her wrist, for any verbal responses to come from the Bardottan Master. Jinlo proceeded to rummage through the cupboards, gathering various items that had been stowed away and setting them out on the counter.

"I'm going to make up some fresh Caf, if you are interested?" she spoke whilst she loaded the peculator with some fresh Caf grounds and loaded it into the empty machine. Keeping herself occupied whilst the Caf brewed, the raven haired Jedi busied herself loading up a tray with various sweeteners and creamers, before setting down to fresh cups. Once the peculator had finished, Jinlo loaded it onto the tray and carried it over towards the table, pouring out two cups and offering one towards the Bardottan before sitting down on a near by seat and taking a long awaited sip of the freshly brewed beverage.

Bruce rested comfortably in the galley and his eyes were immediately drawn to the corridor as the female figure of Jinlo came into the view. It was nice to see, but it was also an odd thing to see the young girl dressed as she was. Clearly she was comfortable and appeared nothing like a Jedi, the same as he as he wore nothing but the most simplest of clothes. A simple green tunic that resembled that of a t-shirt leaving his purple hue exposed on his arms. Much of his own physique was revealed this day as he wore for comfort and not for duty, the simple tunic and simple black linen pants - no cloak, no hood, no head piece, simple. It was nice to see his companion wearing such an outfit, the only times he had seen the young girl was in her Jedi outfits - just as he would. It was always for duty and never for casual, or so he thought. It was like a uniform, people look so much different in and out of uniform. He took a moment to look the girl up and down a couple of times before smiling at her as she greeted him.

"Morning Ms. Jinlo Halan. I did, thank you - how about yourself, my dear?" Bruce was casual in his speech patterns, gone was the formal attitude and voice he naturally had adopted for use as a Jedi. He still had much respect for the young master, but out here in the vast deserts, away from all the Jedi politics and formalities, Bruce retreated to a more casual attitude; and attitude not typically utilized.

Overnight he actually slept more then he meditated, he often had little difficulty adjusting to a new time or the nasty falls of shuttle-lag. He'd traveled so much now it just became natural to him, and right now he didn't need to Force to carry him, although he did truly always carry it with him. The battle of Tython did take much out of the middle-aged Jedi Master and he had spent a couple of days within a deep meditation to reflect and review the events, he had a new understanding and a deeper understanding of the Force for that battle had pushed him beyond his limits, yet again. He was not unfamiliar with such pushes though, long ago he had pushed himself to the brink when he accompanied Cregan and Kal on a bandit base raid; that had tested his abilities but it made him stronger. The battle on Tython from the moment he landed to the moment he collapsed to his knees upon completion, it had tested his abilities and he came out much stronger. Now it was time to be 'normal' if there ever was such a thing.

Bruce nodded at the offer for Caf as it would have been rude to decline. He wasn't much of a Caf drinker, but the woman went out of her way to brew it up and get the cup ready for him, he thought it best to appreciate her. "Yes. Thank you." he collected his hot beverage, adding to it to make it better suited to his own tastes, once adequate he took a sweet sip, though bitter it was still refreshing to him. "Ironic isn't it? Here we are on one of the hottest planets in the galaxy, and we're drinking a hot beverage." The bardottan chuckled at the statement, though it was hot out they were in climate controlled cabins.

He looked over to the woman, the damage to her ears brought a sadness to him - even though he knew it was her own decision and own will, it still tugged on the forever healer's mind. He didn't think he had the capacity to heal her permanently, but he thought he might be able to - but after discussing it with her, he was happy to accept her decision of keeping it as was to help focus on herself and to allow her a much deeper and richer chance to learn about herself, which was part of the reason why they'd come out this way. Bruce, the scholar bardottan, wanted to learn more about her and her abilities - he had seen them at work a few times now and they'd impressed him; though he'd never exploit the woman. In addition, it was nice to see how she had overcome that disability with her digital transcriber. It did alter the way they'd communicate though, Bruce had made sure to speak just a bit slower than his usual hurried speech - but not in a patronizing way.

"I'm still upset with what happened to you, Jinlo. I always will be, even though I'd nothing to do with it. It just tugs at me, I'm sure you understand as I - but I am excited about helping you going forward." The bardottan smiled, "So, is there anything specific you'd like to do today? Anything particular you want to explore, perhaps?" He obviously was referring to herself, as in explore within, like her abilities or her understanding. "I know we're probably a little dragged from travel but that won't stop us!"

"Perhaps we can just work on a few questions?"
The scholar in the bardottan had really come out right now, a chance to understand something new in terms of abilities and limitations had intrigued the man after all.

"Not to bad thank you" Jinlo responded with a slight yawn to her voice, as she cast a eye over the small screen mounted on her wrist whilst sitting down before she gently clasped the steaming cup of caf in her hands, inhaling through her nose taking in the rich aroma before taking a few eagerly awaited sips of her beverage. Her eyes narrowing slightly as she read the lip movement of the Bardottan master sitting opposite her, a light chuckle escaping her lips as he commented on drinking hot drinks whilst on a desert planet. "Its probably more of an old wives tale, but supposedly drinking warm drinks raise your core temperature, so it makes the warmer climate feel cooler for a while" she explained with a light shrug as a warm smile crossed her features.

Quietly she proceeded to drink her hot beverage, allowing the caffeine to flow into her system. Her glowing Ice blue eyes tracing over the moving lips of the Male Jedi master, before panning down towards her wrist mounted screen. Jinlos eyes intently scanning over the words that were being converted from audible sound to digital text as Bruce spoke about his regret for the loss of the raven haired Master's sense of hearing, before explaining how he was excited about helping her explore her abilities further to find alternative means of being able to communicate. Her ice blue gaze shifting suddenly upwards once she had finished reading the transcribed speach, a kind smile lingering on her features.

"Don't be upset for me Bruce" Jinlo spoke after a brief silence before shaking her head slightly, as a light sigh escaped her lips. "It was an unfortunate necessity, If I hadn't taken such steps, then I wouldn't be sitting here in front of you having this conversation" she rationalised with a warm smile crossing her features. Deep down, knowing the grim reality of what might have transpired if she had allowed the ringing in her hears to continue to disrupt her concentration in channeling the Force to her will whilst standing against the more powerful of the Abominations that had populated the recently liberated Jedi planet.

Pursing her lips in thought she mused on what potential avenues there was to explore to allow her to utilise her naturally latent psychic abilities to compensate for the loss of audiable hearing. "I guess perhaps it might be worth picking your brains on whether you are familiar with alternate means of hearing" Jinlo spoke with a light shrug. "I know telepathy is one means of countering my deafness, but I wonder whether there was a way to listen to speech through the Force, much like the Miraluka use the Force to see their surroundings?" she continued, sharing her hypothesis.

"I know the easiest means for me to compensate would be to just openly use my Empathetic abilities and forcefully reach into the minds of those around me so I can read what their minds are processing to say. But I've promised myself that I wouldn't allow for my abilities to be used in such a manner, to forcefully intrude on the sanctity of someones thoughts and mind without good cause and reason. I'd be abusing my powers and gifts" she reasoned whilst leaning back against the back of her seat. Her lips pursing in thought, as she mulled over the ad-hoc principles and ethics she had formed around the use of her own abilities. Knowing full well that there would be a time where she would be called upon to forcefully extract the truth from someones mind, but it would have to carry a significant weighting and justification for her actions.

But to use her abilities so forcefully to allow her self to regain the ability to hear spoken word in some derived form or an other. It didn't quite sit well with the raven haired master. Slowly she brought her cup back up towards her lips as she pondered over the moral dilemma for a few brief moments, keeping an eye on the screen of her auto transcriber to read any responses from the Bardottan Master.

Bruce shook his head in disagreement of her statement about prying information from people. "No. That is not even an option, Jinlo. To impose yourself in such an invasive manner his surely a step backwards and a step in a path I cannot and will not take part with. To pry and rip free is just that, an abuse as you've already suggested. It is one of the darker sides of our own control. The Stih extract information in various ways - the deference between them and us for this ability is they often have little care and many will often be driven to madness and insanity. While your idea has merits for certain applications, to influence a mind so drastically and in such an intimate setting can have serious repercussions; it is an ability we could work with but it is delicate - the mind itself is delicate. If that is something you truly want to explore, it will take many intense sessions and the results are not guaranteed ever; but at this time I cannot support such a decision." Of course, Jinlo could make that decision but she'd have to convince the bardottan to even consider it.

Bruce finished is unnecessary lecture, everything he said to her he suspected she already knew due to her apprehensiveness and through her training as a Jedi Healer these are concept that should not be foreign to the young lady; it took certain individuals with certain training and experience to be able to work such an ability to heal the mind and the soul - while he no doubt trusted the young master had the abilities, the question would remain of weather or not she had the capability to such tasks at this time.

The Master Jedi tapped his chin thoughtfully as he contemplated now her request about communicating without speech, summoning abilities to aid her, the mere thought of a version of Force Sight that would work for hearing, a peculiar thought. Jinlo had pointed out the obvious method - telepathy. He suspected she already had a fairly strong understanding of telepathy given her unique talents, but sometimes that would be a technique that'd be troublesome for those who hadn't a strong understanding of the ability - at least they could not return the thoughts. "Over the years of training, Jedi often form bonds with one another - like Master and Apprentice. This is a natural occurrence, the threads of such a bond are gently woven between the two. It is this bond that often creates a method of communication within the binds of the Force; though limited. If there were a potential way to... express that and push it further, that could be a new option. Forging a temporary bond with a member or members of a squad or strike team for example."

"While I can specify as a means of communication, it is possible to weave the Force into a whisper, a whisper that could allow for simply listening to others, nearby or further away. This would allow the ability to hear... but to return to sender, that might be tricky; granted you are not exactly speechless so that wouldn't be too much of an issue. I think these options might be a possibility, to weave the energies to sound - to vibrations in the body could work. I suspect, it would take some applications. One thing I know, certain meditations I bring myself to, I don't only see what's around me but I have been able to track just that - hear the wind making contact with blades of grass, hear the gentle buzzing of that bee a distance away gathering from a flower, the flower's roots spreading through the ground bit by bit, the conversations in the distance. It is something I have done, but I cannot say it is easy to pinpoint."

Bruce paused allowing the whole processor to catch up with everything he had said. He did realize he was starting to ramble a bit, knowledge did that to him. It was his passion after all; and while he spoke it was all theory in the end - or so he'd pass.

"Two very intelligent individuals like us can certainly come up with something don't you think? I mean we are both well versed in the Force and in the functionality of the bodies - though different." He was hopeful.

Furrowing her brow initially as the Bardottan Master shook his head, the raven haired Jedi turned her gaze towards her auto scribe as he spoke out about it disapproval of using her abilities to Forcefully read the minds of those around her. The sentiments that Bruce raised, Jinlo agreed whole heatedly with. Much was her discomfort with using her abilities in such a means. A long drawn out sigh escaped her lips as she raised her gaze towards the blue skinned Jedi sitting opposite her. "There is no argument with what you have so wisely spoken Bruce" The raven haired Jedi spoke as she cast a warm smile to her peer. "Unfortunately I cannot say i have abstained from doing so in the past. My Empathetic abilities as somewhat... unusual" she continued before trailing off with a sigh.

"You see, if you were to try and use the Force to enter someones conscious mind, you have to make a focused effort right? The way my inherited natural abilities have amalgamated with the Force, means i have to actively use the Force to... neutralise my empathetic traits" Jinlo continued to explain, before pausing momentarily to refill her cup of caf and take a long sip of the hot beverage. "After my awakening in the Force, The masters and healers on Ilum believed I was suffering from psychosis because I could hear voices in the back of my head, little did any one really know it was just how my natural abilities had been enhanced by the Force, that i was inadvertently reading the minds of those around me" the female Jedi continued after setting her cup down on the table.

"It was only during my four years of isolation on Rishi that I was finally able to learn to restrain my abilities, especially after what i had gleaned from my master on Prakith" Jinlo continued as she held her vibrant ice blue gaze firm with the bardottan Master. "He sought to exploit my abilities to subvert the Jedi Council, Republic Senate, any seat of power by just placing me there to 'read' the minds of those around me. I know i am extremely capable of forcefully invading the minds of those around me, but I don't want to face going down that path unless there is no option" she offered before reaching once more for her beverage.

Slowly she sipped on her cup of caf as she watched Bruce tap on his chin in contemplation, her brow furrowing slightly in thought. It was strange seeing someone else become so deeply embroiled within their contemplation, it made the raven haired master wonder how she had looked, knowing all to well that she often phased out into deep conversation before snapping back out of her thoughts and resuming a conversation after what could be several minutes of silence. It was strange to be on the other side. A light smile crossed her features at the thought as she directed her gaze towards her auto scribe as she watched Bruce's lips start to move once again.

Her lips pursing in thought as she read the spoken words flash before her eyes, the concept of forming a Force bond was not unfamiliar with her, she had recently forged one with her close friend Jace. With their growing closeness in their deep friendship it seemed like the logical course, especially given her current situation. "A temporary bond might work, I must admit I hadn't considered such a feat could be possible" Jinlo spoke as she lowered her cup away from her lips so she could respond without muffling her voice "From what I understood a Force bond was an extremely intimate connection, that meant sharing a lot of personal memories.... There are some that I would not be too comfortable sharing with someone I hadn't grown to fully trust" she continued, as her voice started to trail off. It was not that she had any dark secrets to hide, but she was not fully comfortable in sharing the pain she had suffered witnessing her father's murder, her mothers succumbing to a terminal illness and her late employer's attempts to force himself upon her, with a stranger.

Silently she continued to read the growing dialogue originating from the Bardottan Master, her lips periodically pursing in thought as she weighed up the various options he was presenting. The talk about Bruce's meditations allowing him to use the Force to enhance the subtle ambient sounds of the flora and fauna around him as they interacted with each other did sound interesting. Jinlo couldn't say that she had experienced such an awareness. Her meditations tended to allow her to feel and embrace the various ripples of the Force flowing around her, it seemed that she immersed herself into the currents of the Force whilst Bruce immersed himself into his surroundings.

Nodding in agreement with the Bardottan's closing comment, a light chortle escaped her lips. The two masters were both Consular and healers in their chosen roles within the Order. Seeking knowledge and understanding in the various eccentricities of the Force around them, rather than harnessing it as a tool or weapon. "I'm sure we can both figure something out" the raven haired master spoke with a light chuckle. "I'll admit that I am curious about your enhancement of hearing during your meditations" she continued as she leaned back against her seat again, pausing momentarily to take another sip from her drink. "Have you been able to determine whether it affects your sensory nerves?" Jinlo queried, whilst deep in thought. "The cause of my deafness is the destruction of the membrane of my ear drum, but i think my nerves are still intact, possibly if what you have experienced is an enhancement of your nerves then there might be a chance i could bypass the loss of the membrane?" the raven haired Jedi posed airing the hypothesis that was currently running through her mind.

"A true bond, yes. But those connections are typically done over the course of a long time - it's never a simple creation. As you have experienced with your friend Jace, that happened over a much longer duration then a simple meeting, yes?" Bruce began, "A temporary set up... one that would allow without the shared details usually. You need to isolate certain chambers of the mind, doing that he give limited access; this shielding is also useful with other Mind related incidents."

He shifted in his chair as he continued to think, to contemplate the question posed to him about his meditations. He slowly rose from his chair, abandoning the beverage container on the table. He ran his hand across the table as he re-positioned himself, behind his friend, his hand sliding just past hers. He was making for a window on the other side of the shuttle. "It's a possibility. Depending on the situation I change my overall meditation considerations. Allowing the Force to flow through my every fiber is always much more enjoyable, but to take a time out to just relax, that is when I look to nature. To my surroundings. But you speak true, to the common individual it's an organic thing of course. Science, sound waves meet the ear and translate into waves which then the mind interprets. The idea of switching to the nerves, 'tis a tricky incident actually. But not impossible I don't think."

Bruce now needed to think of how to transfer the information from merely waves to be felt through each and every feeling in the body. Hear by touching, hear by seeing, hear by smelling. It was a challenging thing, realistically it would probably be impossible to hear by smelling, the bardottan chuckled to himself. "It is my belief that, we could do that. We'd have to look into your nerves as you have suggested. We already use the Force to enhance our muscles - enhanced speeds and jumps for example. It's a matter to transfer it... but the desert... that's a interesting challenge in itself; not a whole lot to hear when you've got the world stretching in so many directions and is vast."

Bruce was speaking slowly as he continued to think of the potentials and the methods he might be able to use. Jinlo should be able to easily detect an elevated heart beat as he was full of excitement as he was entertaining the idea of unlocking a new secret in the Force, developing a Force technique something unique. The bardottan was looking at the ceiling now as he hummed to himself. "Ah..." he finally said as he disappeared into his cabin for a few moments before coming out with a datapad. "I think I might have seen something. This text is just something of science of hearing really. You understand sound obviously, spoken word and a few other things. I think this is the first step we need to take, you'll have to recall on those sounds in order to properly allow them to materialize. Someone who has never spoken a word or even heard noise would not be able to comprehend. We need to look like you said, to enhancements."

Bruce was now behind Jinlo, he set the datapad on the table before her. It was nothing special, it basically described the science of hearing and how someone hears, it showed detailed descriptions and picture of the internal ear and how the mind processes the airwaves into sound. "Though your hearing is damaged, it is my belief that it's not completely destroyed. One of the beauties of the sentient beings that we are - you lose one sense and the others become heightened naturally to compensate. We cannot let your ears become lazy - that is where we begin. So, how do we accomplish this?"

Bruce paused a moment while he considered alternatives and processes, he contemplated the potentials and the side effects of each option and each step in the process. Perhaps one way to get the nerves to wake up was to interface with them directly... so to speak. A form of transfer knowledge, but not as invasive. "Ms. Halan, perhaps you need a new set of ears - or rather borrow a set."\
