Jaren had been here for a while, within the dark halls of the Bogan temple. From the moment he had arrived, this place had felt...different. It was as if something that wasn't there was constantly brushing itself against his psyche. The few people who had deigned speak to him were all either short with their answers, crazy, or tried to kill him for walking up to them. What was it with this place?

Oh well, Jaren knew he shouldn't complain. He'd been well fed while he was here. Truly, there weren't as many sweet foods here as there were where he could scavenge for them...but he decided that regular meals were far better than wondering when he'd eat next. Despite his regular meals however, his body remained devoid of much muscle.

When he arrived, the man that had brought him here gave him a robe and a cloak, then disappeared. When Jaren had asked what was to become of him, the man had merely smirked and left. The young force adept hadn't seen him since, but here it was, finally he wasn't just wasting space here. He'd finally received a message that he was up for...'inspection'.

That didn't sound pleasant, but he supposed it was their right - he was living here for free, after all. He couldn't have expected that to last. The message had ordered that he wait here in front of one of the training facilities, and to await further orders. Again, that didn't sound pleasant.

"I hope I don't end up regretting this..."

Tahn slowly entered the room. He was wearing his dark robes, and of course his ligthsaber was hanging from his belt. Today he was going to be having a new apprentice.

"Jaren Kordan I assume" Tahn said as he started to move around the new acolyte in circles.

"tell me what brings you here" He added.

Jaren immediately noticed the newcomer. He seemed a bit older than himself, and he was clad in dark robes, like many of the others he'd seen. What was different about this one was that this one actually deigned to speak to him. The tone was not friendly. "You assume correctly," Jaren responded, his gaze following the man as he circled around him.

"I'm..not really sure," he responded to the man's question. "All I was told was that I was to be 'trained' here. Learn to harness my 'gift'. I don't know what I'm doing here really. I didn't have much of a choice.." he said, trailing off. He wasn't sure it was wise to divulge much information to this man.

"mmm well your here to learn powers indeed" Tahn said in a cunning tone."however you will give something in return, and that is serving our leader the Bogan, and following whatever orders you are given. Is that understood?"

The acolyte nodded his head slightly at Tahn. It wasn't as if he had a plethora of choices, at the moment. "Of course," he said, adding vocalization to his nod. He still didn't know what this guy, or anyone here, was going to teach him. In all the years he spent on Corulag, he'd yet to master any small amount of his powers. He doubted they'd do better.

It was best not to voice that opinion, however.

"ok good so now tell me what do you know about the force?" Tahn asked in a somewhat rude tone as he looked carefully at hi student.

Jaren's eye raised in curiosity as the robed man asked what he knew of the Force. He honestly didn't know very much. Rumors, mostly. Word on the street, and the feeling that he should leave Jedi alone. "The Force? Isn't it that thing the Jedi use to be so strong? I've heard some say it's some kind of magic," Jaren said, feeling like a complete idiot.

It was days like today when Jaren wished he had a more formal education. His ignorance was being shown through a magnifying glass now. "Er...why? Are you going to teach me how to be a Jedi?" he asked. Surely not he assured himself. There was no way a street kid like himself would ever become a Jedi.

"teach you how to be a Jedi?" Tahn laughed out loud as the walls echoed his voice giving a more dramatic effect.

"There is a complete difference between how we use the force, and how the Jedi use it. We use it as a tool while the Jedi consider it as a some sort of god" Tahn said as he approached his apprentice.

"is that understood?"

Jaren's head tilted to the side, the laughter of his master making him feel uneasy. Some sort of god? Do the Jedi believe they can control a god to do those special powers of theirs? Weird. Besides, in Jaren's experience, there weren't any gods. What kind of god would allow horrible things to happen? For once, this guy was making some sort of sense.

"So the Force is a tool? And..you're going to teach me how to use it?" Jaren asked, repeating his earlier question with a different veil, while sidestepping his master's own question. He'd get his own answer before this strange man got his.

"indeed it is a tool that I will teach you to use, but remember you will use it to serve the Bogan before you serve your own goals" Tahn said to his apprentice.

"now I want you to take off your clothes, and everything on you. After than I want you to hand them over to me"
