ORD MANTELL
0200 Hours

The Galactic Alliance has been given information regarding a board member of the Black Company, an ever-growing space shuttle development business. The individual in question will be taking a scheduled trip to Nar Shaddaa to talk business with a potential new client of their industry. Before gaining access to this meeting, it is imperative to pick up a spoofer device which will be used to copy the sensitive information being brought along.

Social Plot. Dice Rolled.
***This Thread will take place before the chaos of the Hutta rebellion

Things had taken a strange turn for the blue skinned Twi'lek known as Kae'Leigh Tameris. It was her first mission for the Galactic Alliance and Kae'Leigh was already feeling like she was behind. After meeting with an agent in the middle of some dark alleyway both her and her Padawan friend Ayasha Waya were now headed to Ord Mantell to find a spoofing device. Find...wasn't exactly the right word. Steal was more like it. They were going to a very old slicer who had retired and steal one of the valuable cloning devices from him. This was of course all hindering on the fact he still had one.

If not...then she'd have to admit to the Galactic Alliance she couldn't go through with the mission and then she'd never get the respect she deserved. Kae'Leigh was a wonderful slicer. The fact the Galactic Alliance didn't have one of these lying around said just about enough for the pity faction. Then again....Kae'Leigh never even asked the agent if they did. So that was really all her fault. Boy. Now she felt sheepish.

She'd only just joined the rebellion under the premise of being trained as a Jedi Padawan. Her mentor was another Twi'lek by the name of Vu'thari. He took her in and promised to train her to be the Jedi Knight he believed she could be. Ayasha was also one of his students, though she was far superior to her blue skinned friend. Kae'Leigh might have been Force sensitive, but she didn't take to the training as the others were.

Growing up on Nar Shaddaa the young blue-skinned Twi'lek learned early on how to take care of herself. She had no friends for the longest time, not trusting anyone further than she could throw them. Which....was not at all. In her seclusion she learned how to speak with computers in the language of binary codes and programming. She taught herself how to be a slicer and this skill led her to joining a small gang of street kids. Their heists weren't ever anything of merit, but the scams they pulled with Kae'Leigh's help gave them the boost they needed to make bigger scores.

Now it seemed the G.A. needed this very same talent. She would have thought that they were angry when they found out all the illegal stuff she'd done. As it turned out they were just as excited to have her. After all, rebels broke rules too. Kae'Leigh would fit right in. And Ayasha was more than happy to help. After meeting with the agent the two of them took to sit at a small cantina to gather their thoughts. Kae'Leigh had explained to Ayasha what a spoofer was and that building one was no easy task. They'd need to steal one. While it was her idea to do so, Ayasha signed up with little thought of right and wrong. Sure what they were doing was illegal, and what they were going to do with it was even more illegal, but for the greater good all would be forgiven. At least that's what Vu'thari would tell them. They hadn't exactly gone back home to ask his permission. This was their mission. Their consequences should they fail.

Now that they'd decided to become outlaws together they had to leave Nar Shaddaa and get on the road, so to speak. Kae'Leigh's ship was still out on a nearby moon, a security measure for her belongings since she'd sold her apartment. She now owned only a few outfits, her blasters, and a token lightsaber given to her by Vu'thari which had belonged to his grandfather. But she for now only had her R-5 blaster pistol with her and not the saber. She didn't need that kind of attention. She was still dressed in her ranger scout armor, since the both of them had gone right from the bar to the hangars.

Kae'Leigh thought about having her ship back and keeping it around, but what good would that do? She couldn't really be expected to go back and forth to the ship bay every time she needed something. And she certainly couldn't be expected to live there. The costs alone of storing her ship in one of those would be staggering and crippling to the money she already didn't have. So for now, they'd take Ayasha's ship. The journey would take the four days either way. It gave Kae'Leigh plenty of time to warm up to Ayasha and get to know her a little more, while both being pleased with herself and also regretting her decision to not bring along the saber. She had valuable time she could have been training. Oh well.

Four days passed by in a blur. Not that they happened fast...but that nothing at all happened to the fact Kae'Leigh was so bored out of her mind the hours seemed to all run together. She'd already proven that no matter how many times the two played Sabaac that Kae'Leigh would come out on top. They'd played for 'fake' credits in the shape of bottle caps. Kae'Leigh -although who would jump at the chance to win some money- didn't have anything to really put down and would feel bad taking all of her friends credits. She didn't need that wedge in their relationship. It was all fun and games between them.

"I think that's enough cards," she'd say after setting her winning hand down again. "I mean seriously. You really have to do something with that tell of yours."

Unfortunately one never knows exactly how the Force will work out. Almost immediately after landing on Ord Mantel, Ayasha was called away. Something about another mission. She barely had time to explain it to Kae'Leigh, but the blue skinned Twi'lek understood. The Alliance needed her. Kae'Leigh was jealous. But she was already on a mission, and she would finish it through. She said goodbye to Ayasha wishing her all the luck in the verse and then proceeded to the nearest cantina she could find. She needed a drink, and a stiff one. She wished there was someone here who could have her back. She really didn't want to go headfirst into another slicer's domain without backup. She'd been on her own most of her life, so it was something she was used to. It would just be nice to have another companion again....

Firen liked going on missions. Sometimes things got so boring, but lately, he had been given more and more things to do. He had been sent to Ord Mantell to help a fellow Rebel out. Firen really like helping people, so he was really excited, plus he would get to meet another Rebel which was always exciting. The people he had met so far had become some of his best friends.

He arrived at the spaceport where he was told to meet this rebel contact. He found the hanger bay just where he had been told it would be.

Firen approached the ship, crossing the empty space with silent footsteps. "Uhh...Hello?" he called out, his voice echoing in the hangar. He wasn't really told more than show up here and help out any way he could. He knew that he was supposed to be meeting a Twi'lek, but he wasn't even sure what they looked like. He had only left home a year prior, and the Galaxy was a HUGE place with so many different types of people.

"Anybody home?" he called out a bit louder

While the fluffy sentient rabbit-looking rebel entered into the ship, Kae'Leigh was in the front of the ship. She was sitting in the pilot's seat with her legs kicked up on the dashboard and mindlessly scrolling through one of her many social media applications on her tablet. When she heard someone calling for attention she put the tablet to sleep mode and stood from her chair. "One moment!" she'd call back to the voice.

Kae'Leigh left the cabin as she set the sleeping tablet into her shoulder pack. She wondered who it was that could be showing up like this, and hoped it was her requested rebel. After Ayasha was called away she had to call in for additional backup, those were the rules after all. The voice would then call again and Kae'Leigh descended the upper level down to the lower floor of the cargo bay.

"I'm here. Hello. And who are-"

Kae'Leigh's voice cut out as she turned from the ladder to see the Kushiban standing at the top of her ramp. Kae'Leigh's eyes went wide for a moment before squeezing shut and her mouth letting out a squeak of joy. Kae'Leigh shrieked loudly before clapping her hands over her mouth and looking at the two foot tall fluff ball before her. She jumped up and down trying to hold in her excited squeal; her lekku bobbing up and down with every bounce. Her eyes were now looking at him like he was the most precious thing in the world.

"You're so cute!!!!" she finally spoke with actual words. "I've never seen anything like it before. Like you. Are you...what do I call you!? You're just so freaking cute I just want to pick you up and snuggle you!"

And she meant it too because she started to make a move to pick him up. He'd either have to run back down the ramp, make a pass under her legs, or verbally say something to make her stop otherwise she'd lift him up and start rubbing her face into his belly while making baby noises like one might do with a beloved pet.

He heard her call out saying she would be just a moment, so he waited in the threshold of the ship. His hands were in his pockets, whistling to himself as he looked around.

He was startled when she came down the ladder and squealed. "Not again" he thought to himself, already seeing the Twi'lek woman approach him. He had seen that look before, he took a step back.

"No!" he said holding up a furry finger to the Jedi. He hoped that would be enough to stop her from picking him up, often times it wasn't though. "I'm Firen." he said, his tone would depend on whether or not she picked him up.

"You called for help?" he asked. He didn't look like much of a fighter, but Firen was actually getting kind of good with a blaster. He hadn't seen the woman who had told him he was a space wizard again, maybe she had lied to him. That didn't feel great but he had found other friends, friends who had taught him how to fight and do good.

"So what we doin'?" he asked, reaching into his pocket he pulled out a piece of lettuce and took a bite from it. Work made him hungry.

As the little Kushiban held up its fluffy finger to stop her, he hoped it would be enough to deter the blue Twi'lek from picking him up. It was not. She reached down and wrapped him in a bear hug and nuzzled her face against his head several times making the most high pitch squeal she could. This of course probably resulted in him bunny kicking her to get free or wiggling out of her death grasp. She bit the bottom of her lip when she realized she probably should not have done that. She just couldn't help herself.

"Ooohhh. Sorry! I didn't meant to do that. I promise not to do it again. You have a name?"

Firen would then introduce himself and reiterate why he was here for her. She remembered that she was supposed to be on a mission and so she would nod her head. He'd then pull out a small leaf of lettuce and begin gnawing on it which made Kae'Leigh press her lips together and snort a sort of laughter before shutting it down; she was trying very hard not to laugh and giggle again from the overwhelming cuteness factor in her ship.

"Uh...yeah," she'd start trying to stay focused. "So there's this slicer nearby. I've gotten a little hunch of where he lives and so we're going to his place to check it out. And well....we're going after his spoofer." Kae'Leigh then backed up and rubbed the back of her head under her lekku. She seemed embarrassed to say this next part. "It's very important we get out hands on this thing. If we don't, the Alliance will be at a loss. We may need to steal it from him."

Looking to her fluffy new friend she tried to judge his reaction on the business she was dropping on him. They were supposed to be the good guys. And stealing was supposed to be wrong. Especially against someone who was supposedly innocent. Stealing from the Imperials was one thing. This guy was just some old and retired hacker. Did that make it any better knowing he'd used his tools for evil at some point in his life?

"That's not going to be a problem is it? Because if you need me to do the actual lifting I don't mind. I need the box or else I can't complete a valuable mission I've been given. And I don't have time to make it myself. If he won't give it to us, there's really only one option. But then again, with your size, getting in an out would be no problem for you and you could probably pull it right from under his nose without ever being seen. Like I said though, if that makes you feel uncomfortable I can do the job myself."

Kae'Leigh put her arms behind her and prayed silently to herself that Firen was accepting of the task. She really didn't have much of a plan to go about doing this. She just knew it had to be done.

He didn't try hard enough. She scooped him up and seemed to ignore his protests for a handful of seconds before finally setting him back down. He straightened the fur that had been disturbed before turning back to his lettuce as she explained the mission.

His ears twitched, turning towards her as she explained the job. Seemed easy enough. Get in and take the spoofer. No would have to get hurt, so if it helped the Alliance, Firen was in.

He waved a hand. "Nooo. No Problem here." he said finishing the lettuce. He continued speaking, food still in his mouth. "You point me towards this spoofer and I am sure we can get it for you!" he said.

While Firen had been practicing his combat skills lately, he was fast and pretty good at stealing things. Stealing is what had got him into the Rebellion in the first place. "Though I have a price." he said holding up a finger. "If I steal this thing...You have to buy me lunch!" he said, his stomach growling. He had just eaten his last food and could tell he was already hungry again. "Deal?" he said reaching up and offering a hand to shake on it.

"Oh shiny!" she would shriek as she clapped her hands together and got the biggest smile on her face.

She was so glad that Firen was on board with her plan because if not she really didn't know what else to do. Hearing him explain that there was no problem at all really made her day. He'd then reiterate the point by saying all she needed to do was point him in the direction of the spoofer; she was also glad the person she was talking to understood what such a device was and looked like. Not everyone was familiar with slicing technology after all.

And then, just for a moment, her heart stopped and her mood was put on hold. He had a price. Kae'Leigh was about to groan when he added that his only method of payment would be her buying him lunch. It came as such a surprise the Twi'lek burst out laughing and covered her mouth with her hands. For a moment she thought he was being serious, like he was some no good pirate who wanted monetary reimbursement for the job. She didn't doubt that he was serious in his request, but the fact he'd played it up made her giggle.

"Sure sure sure," she'd reply while shaking his hand. "But how about after we get back. I don't want to wait around and miss our chance at finding this guy." Kae'Leigh would then get a very mischievous grin on her face and add, "Now come on. Let's go be bad guys!"

Leaving the hangar where The Silver Bullet was docked, Kae'Leigh and her companion headed into the busy city of Ord Mantell. The place was nowhere near as crowded as Nar Shaddaa, but it was enough so that it wasn't bare like Tatooine either. Not that she'd ever been. But she'd heard stories. A lot of nothing out there. Nothing, and sand. Lots of sand. Gross. She did note though, that even though the place was doing rather well for itself in terms of business, there weren't a lot of variance in the shops she was seeing. Junk! Junk everywhere. She could rummage around in those piles and wares four hours and maybe find one thing valuable enough to bring home. Well she wasn't going to go diving around someone else's trash just yet. She wasn't that desperate.

When they got a good distance away from the main bazaar areas, Kae'Leigh would pull out a handheld tablet. She looked around and tried to get an understanding of the map that was currently displayed and with the help of a few bystanders, the two Jedi would be off again. Kae'Leigh had a good feeling about this. That was the Force talking to her, as her Jedi mentor explained. She nearly got so caught up in where she was going she forgot that she had a tiny fluffball following after her. She abruptly stopped out of nowhere and looked behind her to make sure he was still following.

Kae'Leigh was currently standing outside of a four tier home that provided homes for many different families all in the same building. Only separated by a wall between the four doors, they technically all lived in the same building, just the living space was not as large. It was similar to an apartment or a dorm, but this was an actual house. According to the Jedi's knowledge, an old hermit lived in one of these tiny spaces. He'd come out every now and then for food, or to sell some junk like anyone else, but the thing that drew Kae'Leigh's attention was the rumor that he'd once sold a signal re-router to a small time dealer. The item would be long gone by now, so there was no hope in obtaining that piece of tech.

But even still, if he had one of those just lying around, who knew what else he might have? Hence why she chose to seek out this man. While she'd been waiting on a partner to come and assist her, she sent her droid out to do a little reconnaissance by merely transmitting a signal of what it heard. While she listened aimlessly to the chatter, she also searched some local area networks for news and bounties and the like. It was also a good place to phish out some electronic mail from sources which were easy to bring up once she slices her computer into the mainframe database. The dealer it seemed had posted an add to one of his buddies looking to do some illegal business and that's how she got onto the trail in the first place. This is why you never post to the interwebs. Someone can always find it....

Looking around she called out to Firen hoping he was still around, "Uh...Firen...? Where'd you run off to?"

She agreed. A wide smiled across his face as he followed to Twi'lek out of the ship and back into the bustling city. People didn't pay him any attention, so he consistently had to dodge around people to avoid getting kicked. Firen was long used to this and barely paid it any attention. He still didn't know much about the Force, but it helped his already quick reflexes in this matter. Thought he was still pretty absent minded so when she stopped suddenly in front of him he bumped into the back of her leg. "Oof." he sounded as he caught himself. Composing himself, he took a step back and scratched at his ear. "Sorry!" he said shrugging.

She stopped and buried her face into a datapad. He stood by for a moment but quickly grew bored. He thought they were here to steal something, not play games on a tablet.

He blew out a breath of air, looking around before he spotted a crate not too far. He hopped over to the box and jumped atop before plopping down. His oversized feet dangled over the edge as they kicked in the air. At least he could be comfortable if she was going to make him wait.

His mind wandered until she finally called for him. "Huh?" he asked looking up. "Oh! Coming!" he said moving over quickly.

"We ready?" he asked excitedly.

As she looked around he'c call over to her from a box he'd been sitting on. She hadn't even seen him jump up there. He then joined her again and she gave him a smile. "This is the place. Let's hope he's got what we need."

Sighing, she turned to the first one and steeled herself for what was to come. It was nerve wracking for sure. But she had to get this done. Knocking on the first door bore no results. She knocked three times with no answer and each one she seemed more and more nervous while she waited for an answer. After waiting from the third knock, the door to the second apartment would open. It was a middle aged woman. Kae'Leigh asked if she knew the man they were looking for and apparently he the door one down from her.

Well, at least now they knew which home was his. Scooting down two doors, after thanking the woman who'd come to see them at the door, she would take another long breath to steady herself before rapping on the frame once again. After the first trio of knocks the door would whoosh open and an elderly man with a balding head looked out at them through a pair of thick spectacles.

"What do you want?" he'd ask in a raspy voice.

Kae'Leigh backed up a second, her groove rattled. She shook her head trying to find her confidence again and would speak up, "Um...Hello....Are you, Mr. Kanda?"

Peering at them with his big eyes he'd ask, "Who's askin'?"

Looking to her furry counterpart, she returned her gaze to the man, "We're here about a job. Heard you might have a hookup."

"I'm retired!" he'd reply and start to close the door on them.

With quick reflexes, Kae'Leigh put her foot out and stopped the door before it could close. She reached out with one hand, hoping to persuade him with what she'd say next. Although Kae'Leigh was a Jedi in training, she didn't have any clue about the faithful Mind Trick they were so famous for. That didn't mean she didn't have the potential to still pull it off.

"Please," she would beg of him, hoping that her words came across an empathetic heart. "We're desperate. We really need your expertise."

The man would stop for a second and turn around, giving them both a look over. He replied in an almost flat tone, "You look like you need my expertise. Come on in."

To say Kae'Leigh was stunned was an understatement. Just like that? He let them in? It was kinda weird that he repeated what she said, but hey, if it got them inside. Giving Firen a confused shrug she would pass through the door and let her furry friend follow before it would try to shut once again. The man by now had gone to a chair in the middle of the tiny apartment. Around them, several broken gadgets and the like were gathered in piles. Furniture that had no place being there were stacked on one another against the wall. A table near the kitchen area was full of plates and a still-lit cigg.

The place smelled awful, and Kae'Leigh had to stiffen her nose to try and not make any face so as to not insult the man. They were trying to get on his good side after all. As she walked further in, her eyes searched the various tools and broken devices wondering if her precious spoofer was lying around in wait. The man didn't seem to be paying Firen any attention, only focused on Kae'Leigh right now as she'd been the one to meddle around in his brain. If he were to go sneaking off, now was the time.

He watched as she went door to door, finally finding the home of the man they were looking for. It seemed like an odd approach to stealing something from the man, but maybe she knew something he didn't. Regardless, he followed along, after all, he was just here to help out.

She knocked on the man's door and nothing happened at first before an older, rather grumpy old man came to the door. While his partner convinced him they were looking for work, Firen tried to get some look inside the place. The man seemed to pay him no attention, whether that was because he simply didn't notice him because he was shorter or didn't care was unknown to Firen.

He followed Kae'Leigh inside, just scooting inside when the door closed. His nose twitched at the smell. It was a combination of bad smells that came together in a pretty impressive level of stink. Hopefully, they wouldn't be here for long. As they moved inside, he immediately began looking for the device the Twi'lek had described to him on the way over.

The man still didn't pay him any attention, and as long as she could keep him talking it seemed like it would remain the way.

The place was cluttered, but there was a workbench on one side of the room that had a large number of parts and devices laying scattered about. He waited for Kae'Leigh to engage the man so his back would be turned before jumping up on to the bench and beginning to look through the parts.

He held up several devices to Kae'Leigh that somewhat matched what they had been looking for. With each second, the chances of the man turning around would increase.

While her faithful, furry, friend went to start looking for parts, Kae'Leigh moved to be more in the man's sight so he wouldn't be tempted to look away from her. As she did, she leaned against his a bookcase that had various other pieces of junk stored about. Kae'Leigh did a quick glance to see if anything in the sorts would be her prized spoofer, but nothing seemed to stand out. There was too much junk and going through the clutter would take too long; not to mention it would be painstakingly obvious she was looting him.

"So what kind of expertise do you need of me?" the man would ask, still slightly under Kae'Leigh's influence.

Turning around she would show off her backside to him, hoping it might distract him slightly, "I've heard some rumors in town about a signal re-router. Know anything about it?"

Kae'Leigh turned to look over her shoulder, making sure her lekku flicked as she did. She noticed men tend to see that sort of motion as flirtatious and it was easier to draw them in that way. She hated the fact that her species was sexualized that way, but at times it worked to her advantage. As she turned, she noticed Firen holding up a box and Kae'Leigh intentionally waved her hand, pushing her lekku back as if a human might brush one's own hair back. She hoped that would be good enough signal for him to know that wasn't what she was looking for.

"Maybe?" the man would ask questioningly as he shifted his weight in the chair. "Why do you ask?"

Firen would hold up another piece of tech and Kae'Leigh crossed her arms, giving him another intentional signal that he still hadn't found it. "Well the thing is, assuming you might know who sold such a thing. I'm looking to track down the man that had it. Hoping someone who...might have some experience. Might be looking for a hire."

The old man shrugged and angrily replied, "I don't know about this man you're looking for. But I'm retired."

Seeing in the background that Firen had gone to another pile, she saw what was surely the spoofer. She clapped her hands together and got a wide grin, "Shiny!" She'd point forward, slightly over the man's shoulder to the device, but to the man she was just pointing to him. "So you admit it was you then."

The man just stared at her, unamused by whatever game she was playing, "Listen here, youngin. I said I'm retired. I don't do any more of that high flying adventure nonsense. You want yourself a slicer, learn the trade yourself."

Kae'Leigh wanted to plead with him, but Firen was right there with the spoofer in hand. She felt...she knew that if she prodded the man further she might be able to ask him if he could give her a little more of the gear than what she wanted. The man could be a valuable asset. She just knew it. But time was of the essence. Today, she'd have to resort to stealing. She felt awful going that route, when she just had a strong feeling she could do it without such means. But it wasn't worth the risk.

"If that's how you really feel, then I can't stop you. I guess I'll just be on my way."

Moving over to the man she extended her hand for him to shake. It would give Firen plenty of time to sneak around. The man eyed her for a moment and then held out his dirt covered hand and shook hers. She gave him her best smile and then wished him a good day. Heading for the door she'd shut it behind her and give a wide and excited look to Firen.

"You got it, right?" she'd ask in a whisper.

A grin spread wide on his face as she signaled to him he had found the right device. He hopped down from the bench, landing silently on the floor. He waited until Kae'Leigh had the man looking the other direction before he bolted outside.

Seconds later, he was followed by his new Twi'Lek friend. When she asked if he had the device he let out a giggle. "Oh? You mean this?" he said pulling the device out from underneath his jacket. "Easy peasy." he said snorting before letting out another giggle.

"That was fun! Next time you should pick something challenging!" he said as they began to exit the area back towards her ship. His stomach grumbled before they got too far away. He had been having so much fun, he had almost forgotten about her end of the bargain....almost. He held his stomach. "Sooo..about that lunch?" he said laughing as his stomach rumbled again.

Hopefully, she would be able to put the part to good use. It didn't look the man really needed it..he was retired after all.

Firen would hold out the device to her and Kae'Leigh had to contain herself from squealing although it was visibly noticeable that she was fighting it. She reached for it -making sure to not pull it out of his hands in a rude fashion. She held it in her hands for a second and nodded. This was most assuredly a spoofer. Now she needed to find out if it worked. Kae'Liegh just didn't want to do it right then and there.

"It's shiny!" she said excitedly; not at all describing it based on its appearance. "Come on, let's head back."

They quickly left the man's complex and Kae'Leigh shoved the device into her jacket pocket. She didn't want to be seen staring at it like some lost gem in a forgotten temple. Firen would then say he wished she'd given him something more challenging. She laughed, saying that if she could help it, she'd avoid not stealing things again. Which of course went against the very nature of the spoofer that they'd just acquired. Though, maybe she'd invite him on that mission when she returned. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Kae'Leigh was itching to inspect the device, not wanting to get too overjoyed before she found out whether or not it might actually work. She looked over her corner as they were now a few side roads away and didn't see anyone seemingly following them. A good sign. She pulled the spoofer out and began looking at it more carefully. It would need some cleaning, but when she flipped the power switch it did flicker on and that was a good sign too. She wouldn't know for sure whether the coding feature worked until she got back to her ship. But that part she could tweak when she had her tools.
