NAR SHADDAA
1700 Hours

The Galactic Alliance has been given information regarding a board member of the Black Company, an ever-growing space shuttle development business. The individual in question will be taking a scheduled trip to Nar Shaddaa to talk business with a potential new client of their industry. Before gaining access to this meeting, it is imperative to pick up a spoofer device which will be used to copy the sensitive information being brought along.

Social Plot. Death Disabled. DM Ruled.

Her first mission for the Galactic Alliance! Kae'Leigh Tameris was ecstatic! She'd only just joined the rebellion under the premise of being trained as a Jedi Padawan. Under Vu'thari's guidance, her and three other Force potentials traveled into the Deep Core and searched out a long lost temple. As much as she wanted to say that had been her first mission, she couldn't really accommodating anything she'd done there that particularly helped the Alliance as it did so much for her own reasons. But now she was being given a direct order to put her talents to work.

Growing up on Nar Shaddaa the young blue-skinned Twi'lek learned early on how to take care of herself. She had no friends for the longest time, not trusting anyone further than she could throw them. Which....was not at all. In her seclusion she learned how to speak with computers in the language of binary codes and programming. She taught herself how to be a slicer and this skill led her to joining a small gang of street kids. Their heists weren't ever anything of merit, but the scams they pulled with Kae'Leigh's help gave them the boost they needed to make bigger scores.

Now it seemed the G.A. needed this very same talent. She would have thought that they were angry when they found out all the illegal stuff she' done. As it turned out they were just as excited to have her. After all, rebels broke rules too. Kae'Leigh would fit right in.

Since there was no public location for the alliance to settled down, Kae'Leigh didn't really have a base to hole up in. Instead, she had found herself in the care of her new Jedi mentor who also housed the brown-skinned woman named Ayasha. She would be accompanying the Twi'lek on this mission and the request of Kae'Leigh. It wasn't that she was against going it alone, but she felt she needed more time to really befriend the girl that wasn't spent training or getting beaten in lightsaber combat; she really sucked at combat when it came to swords. She was far better with a blaster.

Kae'Leigh would explain the minor details of what was expected of them, but they were only given so much. The two of them were to meet with their....captain? She didn't know what to call the guy that was giving them their mission. Anyways. He'd requested them to meet in an alleyway just a block or so from her favorite bar. She knew it was safe from prying eyes as she'd done deals there before. So that's where they were headed now.

Dressed in a new outfit that was a tailored ranger scout armor, Kae'leigh and Ayasha would make their way to the deal location. She felt after knowing the potential danger they could run into that it might be best to start wearing actual armor around rather than just her casual wear. She still had her favorite R-5 blaster pistol holstered on her hip; her lightsaber given to her -to borrow- by Vu'thari was left back at home. She didn't trust walking around with that even if it would have been stowed in her bag. She would take zero chances of being discovered.

"We should be getting close now," she would say to her somewhat-new friend.

Early evening in the upper levels of Nar Shaddaa brought an influx of foot traffic. Men and women of every species and class brushed elbows as they filled the sidewalks along the busy thoroughfares. Everyone had a destination and a purpose whether nefarious or admirable. At the start of her training, Ayasha had learned to dress in a way that helped her blend in, and so she typically donned the clothing common to spacers and the like.

At the moment, she wore a black tunic over a pair of slate leggings with a nearly knee high pair of coal colored boots. Her ensemble was completed by a heavy belt around her waist and a blaster pistol embraced by a leathery holster upon her right thigh. Tucked into the folds of her tunic was the lightsaber she had recently crafted. It had taken the place of the borrowed weapon that had once belonged to Vu'thari's grandfather. While the young woman had carried that with pride, hoping to honor the twi'lek's memory while doing so, she had not been able to connect with the blade as she had her own. Though carrying a lightsaber out in the open was certainly a risky idea, hers remained well hidden but accessible in the unlikely event that it would be needed.

The caramel skinned woman walked beside a friend that had been one in the making for some time. It had taken Ayasha a bit of time out in the galaxy to learn and grow so to be able to let go of some deep hurts that hindered her from allowing others to get close. Kae'Leigh was one such relationship that was birthed from the changes that the woman had been making in her personal life. She smiled gently at the blue skinned twi'lek as they ventured toward the appointed place where at an appointed time they would be meeting with someone within the ranks of the Galactic Alliance. This individual would be giving the pair their mission details, and Ayasha was curious as to what they would entail.

The raven haired woman was thankful to have some time to get to know Kae'Leigh better, without all of the boys around. Though she and Vu'thari shared a deep Force Bond steeped in love and her connection with Prax and even now Alexander had been brotherly, Ayasha was missing female companionship. She had never known what it was like to have a sister and since her brother had been savagely ripped from her life at such a young age, the woman had spent the better portion of her existence in a state of loneliness. If asked, she would not have been able to lie, but her heart skipped a little when the twi'lek had asked her to go along on the mission.

“We should be getting close now,” said Kae'Leigh as the pair neared the alleyway where their contact would be waiting. Ayasha nodded as her eyes searched the surrounding buildings. The shadows grew longer as the daylight slipped away and soon she knew, the wicked would come out to play. The woman, nearly a Jedi Knight now, had been taught to be cautious to the point where a fellow padawan had once accused her and Vu'thari of being obscenely paranoid. The mindset had kept her alive this long and her Jedi Master even longer and so, she would continue scanning every corner for anything that raised the alarm within her mind.

The pair began to slow as they reached an alley where a lone figure stood in the darkness. The natural empath reached out toward the unidentified face and searched their emotions. Quickly she determined that his intentions were honest and his heart pure. “Looks like that's our guy?” Ayasha nodded in the direction toward the man that they were likely looking to meet. She smiled and looked back to the blue skinned twi'lek. “It's your first mission, friend...I'll follow your lead!” the woman beamed a supportive smile toward her fellow padawan.

Not much longer than when Kae'Leigh promised and the two would reach the destination. Waiting for them was just an average looking gentleman, and perhaps that's all he really was. But his status in the Galatic Alliance was slightly greater than theirs as he was the one giving out the mission. Ayasha would search out the man's feelings and sure enough he was true and honest in his nature. That being said, he was still nervous about meeting them in this dark place. Ayasha would ask Kae'Leigh if that was their man to which Kae'Leigh simply shrugged. She honestly didn't know for she'd never met the man. But who else would be waiting for them in a place like this.

Ayasha would then offer to follow behind her and Kae'Leigh would reply, "Just watch my back. I don't want to say anything stupid."

The two walked closer and Kae'Leigh would offer a smile to the mysterious gentleman. He'd look behind him for a moment, making sure no one had followed him, then look over their shoulders to make sure no one had followed the girls. He was a young man, but probably older than both of them still. Kae'Leigh didn't know how humans aged. They were all so different than other races in the verse.

"Horrible day for a picnic," he'd ask Kae'Leigh.

Taking a moment to remember the response, a very specific response to his code phrase he was actually asking her, "Uh....Oh! Not if one remembers their umbrella."

The man nodded and would come closer to them; his demeanor changed and he didn't seem as on edge as when Ayasha would have first scanned him. "Excellent. Take this chip. It'll give you the rundown." He reached into his pocket and handed Kae'Leigh a small data chip she could plug into any electronic device to get a readout. He would continue, "The mission is simple. In two weeks time a Mr. Sylvian will be meeting with a representative from the Black Corporation. We can get you into the meeting as part of the staff. Your job is to copy the data being brought in from Black and get it to us. I trust you have the correct equipment necessary?"

Kae'Leigh gulped and would look to Ayasha, "Uhhhhh....no?"

The man seemed worried, "I was told you were a slicer. Do you not own a spoofing device?"

She shook her head and then nodded it more determined, "Not at this moment. But I can get one. I assure you."

The man would shake his head and speak with authority, "Make sure you do. You'll only have one shot at this." He'd then tip his hat to them and start walking away, "Good luck, ladies."

As the twi'lek and human women turned down the alleyway, Ayasha could sense the anxiety rise within the man waiting in the shadows. The empath cast a wave of peace upon the man ahead of the pair of padawans. “Just watch my back. I don't want to say anything stupid,” Kae'Leigh told her as they neared the man. The caramel skinned woman nodded. She certainly had the twi'lek's back, front and sides. She had no intention of allowing anything to harm either of them.

Just as the pair closed in on the man, Ayasha's eyes shifted to his trembling hands. Even in the darkness, the padawan could see the physical response to his internal struggle. He clearly was not fond of the idea of meeting two strangers in the inky shadows of an alley in the heart of Imperial Hutta on Nar Shaddaa. The stranger looked over his shoulder and the raven haired woman did as well. He then turned his gaze to check behind the two females before directing his eyes to the pair of padawans.

“Horrible day for a picnic,” he said to Kae'Leigh. It was a similar coded phrase like the one that Crix and Vu'thari had exchanged the day that she had met the Jedi Master. It was a safe way of conducting business these days. Ayasha glanced at the blue skinned twi'lek, awaiting her response. There was a long moment of silence and the young woman smiled at their contact to ease his mind. “Uh....Oh! Not if one remembers their umbrella,” the padawan exclaimed.

It seemed as if a collective sigh left each of the three just then. The man nodded and visibly relaxed. Ayasha could sense the anxiety within him settle. “Excellent. Take this chip. It'll give you the rundown,” he said while handing the small piece of technology to Kae'Leigh. The man continued describing the simple nature of the mission ahead of them. It would be the job of the padawans to copy the data being brought in from the Black Corporation to the meeting between their representative and Mr. Sylvian. “I trust you have the correct equipment necessary?” he questioned.

Kae'Leigh swallowed hard and looked over at Ayasha. The caramel skinned woman raised her eyebrows as her mind scrambled for a way to ease the man's concerns. “Uhhhhh....no?” the twi'lek answered honestly. Their contact was indeed nervous at her response. He began to pummel the blue skinned alien with queries, questioning her credentials as a slicer. “Do you not own a spoofing device?” he asked incredulously.

The twi'lek shook her head but then nodded with determination, informing him that though she did not have one at the moment, she would get one. “I assure you,” she added. Their unidentified contact shook his head and walked off, wishing them luck as he did. “We don't need luck. You'll get your info,” Ayasha called after him. The woman turned toward Kae'Leigh and shook her head. “I bet he's fun at parties,” she smiled broadly before taking a few steps in the direction from which they had come.

“We'll get your spoofer, I assure you,” she said with a wink while quoting Kae'Leigh's closing statement to the stranger.

Supporting Kae'Leigh like she needed, Ayasha would then call over her shoulder to the representative as he started to walk away. They didn't need luck. The thought tickled Kae'Leigh. They needed all the luck they could get. Maybe Ayasha didn't understand the severity of what the man was asking. To get a spoofer device was no easy thing. Most slicers made their own models; it's not like one could just pick them up at any general store around the corner. Plus, the parts alone to make one would bankrupt Kae'Leigh. If they were going to do this...they'd need to either A: kill another slicer and steal his; or B: get very very lucky and find one that a slicer had left behind.

Kae'Leigh would turn around with an even more worried look on her face. It didn't last long as her new friend would then make a joke a the man's expense. He must be fun at parties. Well Kae'Leigh didn't know anything about that. She knew she was fun at parties. Kae'Leigh had a little bit of a wild side. She both hoped that Ayasha could see this one day, and prayed that Ayasha never saw that side of her. She had mixed feelings on the matter.

Ayasha must have sensed that something was wrong with the Twi'lek and Ayasha would continue to subconsciously cheer the woman up by assuring her they would find this spoofer. Kae'Leigh would nod to the other woman and feign a polite smile. If only it were that easy. She didn't have the slightest clue as to where they might start looking. Without giving an answer to Ayasha or explain what she was thinking, she'd start heading out of the alleyway; she didn't really pay attention to which way she was going as she was so lost in her head.

"I suppose if we.....But what if we.....Well maybe if.....He hadn't exactly been very active.....I could always call her.....But then how would I get her number....She'd probably try to shoot me after that last entanglement."

There was a storm of emotions swirling with Kae'Leigh. Ayasha could read her conflicted state like the latest news. The pair began walking back out of the alley but the twi'lek began mumbling questions as they went. “I suppose if we....but what if we....well maybe if....” the blue skinned female began and carried on for several moments. The caramel skinned woman stopped walking and smiled at her friend. “Relax...I may not know everything about technology...” she began, though her mind protested the fact that she knew anything about technology. “What I do know is that we are resourceful and, we have the Force to guide us.”

Ayasha grinned as they continued walking once again. As the pair reached the end of the alley and looked out into the street, the young woman glanced to her right and motioned toward a nearby cantina. “It looks like you could use a drink...” she said with all sincerity. The Galtean native had only had a few encounters with alcohol...but she did not completely deny its potential to calm one's nerves. “We don't have to stay long. It will give us a chance to put together a plan.”

The pair turned down the sidewalk along the thoroughfare that passed right in front of a nearby cantina. A crooked sign hung from the awning above the entrance and lazily blinked. Several letters were missing from the name but after squinting and reading it slowly, Ayasha was able to make out what it said...she hoped. “The...Sleeping....Wookie!” she laughed after piecing the words together. The pair made their way down the sidewalk and as they approached the establishment, loud music could be heard from within.

As the pair entered, the padawan shot a glance around the space that was filled with tables and chairs, a few games and a stage where a small band was playing. There were only a few patrons which Ayasha was thankful for. “How about that table in the back...” the caramel skinned woman nodded toward the corner of the bar where a table sat in dim light. The padawans made their way to the waiting chairs and sat down. They were promptly greeted by a service droid. “How about a glass of wine?” Ayasha asked to which the machine beeped and whistled in disappointed tones. The woman was thankful that she had been learning to understand binary in her interactions with SawDip. “No?...I'll just have whatever she orders then...” Ayasha gestured to Kae'Leigh, hoping she enjoyed something that tasted good.

Her thoughts were cut short from the other girl grabbing her hand. Kae'Leigh had forgotten she was even there, to be honest. She blinked several times as she looked at Ayasha trying to remember what she was even doing there. When she told her to relax, it seemed to have a magic spell over her because she did just that. While Ayasha might not know nealy as much as the blue-skinned Twi'lek, she reassured her that they were resourceful. Though, Kae'Leigh would argue that the Force would be guiding them. She still didn't really believe in how that all worked. But she was dangerously naive in that field.

"Uh....Right. The Force."

From there they would travel down the street. Kae'Leigh didn't know which way this magical Force thing was taking them. She didn't like not knowing things. She had always made sure before taking on any kind of assignment or deal or anything she always had to make sure she knew everything up front. She never gambled unless she knew the outcome would be in her favor. That was how she played the game. Not knowing what the world had planned for her was deeply upsetting.

Yet Ayasha took comfort in this. Maybe once one let Fate decide they lost a sense of responsibility. Things didn't matter as much because the blame wouldn't fall on them. "It wasn't my fault...it was destiny." Well Kae'Leigh couldn't abide by that. That way of thinking meant that her parents died and it was all pre-ordained. No. Kae'Leigh would not have that.

Pulling her from any negative thoughts Ayasha then offered her a drink. Or rather that she needed a drink. Yeah. That would calm the nerves. Though it would also allow any other negative thoughts to creep up. Being inebriated had a way of one losing their inhibitions. Though, she wasn't planning on having that much to drink. She hoped at least. Ayasha promised they wouldn't stay long. And she would have to hold onto that promise.

The cantina was like any other bar in this place of the world. Loud. Smokey. Filled with bad people. A perfect place to hide out. But it was unfortunately the wrong kind of place for Kae'Leigh. A lot of stupid people out there didn't like the fact a Twi'lek was walking around of her own free will. And it wouldn't be the first time someone came up to her asking her about it. Some even took things a little further and tried to make her see things their way. Her blaster usually deterred those kind of creeps. Didn't make her feel any less awful about it though.

As fate would have it, the cantina was pretty empty. "Must be a lazy hour," she'd think to herself. The two would head to the back at Ayash'a request so as to not draw any of that unwanted attention Kae'Leigh couldn't stop thinking about. A service droid would come to take their drinks. Ayasha hadn't seemed like the type of girl to order wine at a bar, but she didn't really know the girl that much so anything was possible. In kind, the droid replied back with subtle deeping of Binary. It was like a second language to Kae'Leigh who dealt with droids and computers all the time.

"She says it's not on the menu," Kae'Leigh would translate for her, not knowing she didn't already speak the language too. Not everyone did. Then again, not everyone owned a droid either. Not in this day and age.

Ayasha then extended the option to Kae'Leigh to pick their drinks. She had no idea what the girl liked. Didn't people who order wine usually like it because it tasted fruity? Well naturally that only brought one drink in mind for the Twi'lek. She hadn't ever ordered one for herself but she hoped to the gods it tasted like it sounded.

"Two pink nebulas if you please."

The droid would then beep back and head back to the bar to make the selection. Kae'Leigh sighed and pulled over a beverage napkin from the center of the table. She reached into her coat -trying several pockets before finding what she wanted- and pulled out a pen to start scribbling down ideas. The drawing she'd then show Ayasha were...childish at best.

"Ok. So this is a spoofer. See here: these are the parts I need. I can build one...but it'll take time and money to acquire the parts and we don't have either. Our best bet is going to be either-" her voice got really quiet, "steal one, or hope that one just happens to come out way."

“Two pink nebulas if you please,” Kae'Leigh requested of the droid. Whatever the drink was, it sounded appetizing, and Ayasha would trust her friend's judgement on the choice. Ayasha smiled as she watched the twi'lek reach for a napkin and begin sketching something with a pen from her pocket. She scribbled some things down and then turned the little square for the woman to look at.

Ayasha raised an eyebrow as she glanced down at the drawings and notes, unsure of what she was looking at. She could only guess that this had something to do with the predicament that Kae'Leigh now found herself in regarding the lack of a 'spoofer', something the raven haired woman had never heard of before today.

“Ok. So this is a spoofer,” the twi'lek began. Ayasha really wanted to understand, but she knew that it would take a great deal of explaining on Kae'Leigh's behalf. The woman was from a backwater planet with no technological footprint. Anything she presently knew had been information learned either through experience, or from the hundreds if not thousands of hours of research the padawan had done between missions and training.

Ayasha looked up at Kae'Leigh and smiled eagerly, excited to learn something new. “These are the parts I need. I can build one...” the blue skinned alien went on to explain that it would take time and money to accomplish the task, neither of which they had presently. It seemed as if the other padawan leaned in slightly as her voice dropped to tones just above a whisper. “Our best bet is going to be either...steal one, or hope that one just happens to come our way.”

The caramel skinned woman's eyes grew wide as she sat back and looked around to ensure that nobody was listening to their conversation. She leaned in and added to the whisper, “I don't think that waiting for one to come our way is the best plan,” the padawan added with a wink. Ayasha leaned back in her seat and began to think of all the possible places they could come up with this device.

Her thoughts were soon interrupted as the service droid returned with a tray over its head and their drinks on board. “Thank you,” the raven haired woman said with a warm smile. She took both drinks in her hands and set one in front of each of them. Silence fell between the twi'lek and human as the droid rolled off and Ayasha's eyes settled upon the beverage before her. She studied it for a long while before cautiously lifting the glass to her lips, drawing in a long sip of the cool liquid.

“Oh that's good...” she said with a grin and a nod of approval. “I really like this!” the raven haired woman said as she drew in another gulp of the sweet drink. She set the glass back on the tabletop and looked across at Kae'Leigh with a hint of mirth in her eyes.

“Let's steal one,” Ayasha said firmly, already committed to the action of theft as the best and perhaps only means of acquiring this device in the short amount of time that they had.

Kae'Leigh was glad to hear that Ayasha was at least following what she was saying. No spoofer was just going to fall into their laps. Not by a long shot. And waiting on one was like someone waiting for their favorite robot team to win the sports bowl. Kae'Leigh wasn't exactly on the up and up when it came to sports. They were confusing enough as it is...why bet on robots to do them for you? It was a very confusing hobby for some people. Especially when one could slice into the program and potentially make the odds fall in their favor. OH! Kae'Leigh should look into that....

The droid came back with two pink looking drinks in martini glasses to which Ayasha served them both and the droid rolled away. Kae'Leigh hand't even bothered to look up to take hers, let alone sip it. She was too focused on the childlike drawing in front of her and all the possibilities and problems that it created for the both of them. Ayasha was happy to partake in the beverage which was the exactly opposite of what they'd come to do. Kae'Leigh was the one who was supposed to be drinking. Yet she remained intently focused on the napkin.

Then she heard the option she didn't think to hear from the goodie-goddie Jedi in training. "Let's steal one." Wow. So there it was. Kae'Leigh looked up and blinked several times while staring into Ayasha's eyes. Her amber ones stared back at Kae'Leigh's own blue ones. Did she just.....offer to steal one? Kae'Leigh it was her idea to do so, but the fact Ayasha seemed set on doing so with no hesitation really threw the blue skinned Twi'lek for a loop.

"Alright!" she'd say with a few nods of her head. "But we can't do it here. We're off to Ord Mantell!"

And with that, Kae'Leigh stood up, grabbed her drink, and downed it in one long gulp. She sat it back down with a delighted sigh of accomplishment. She'd toss the credits down to pay for the drinks and then start heading to the door. The mission was not going to be easy. But she knew of one slicer who might have what they needed. And she knew just how to find him. The man was old, off his game, and retired for as much as she could tell. If anyone had one lying around, it was Chud Henrick. And getting it from him would be no walk in the park. Better bring two blasters, just in case.
