Sythe sat at a table in the derelict living room of his friend's manor. On the table sat a holo-screen that was playing the galaxy's daily news.
The Sith's eyes were glued to the holo-screen as the blonde and blue eyed newscaster reported on the gruesome death of yet another citizen on the planet of Vjun.
Normally death didn't bother him, he was bred for death and destruction from a very young age, blood didn't bother him nor did he care for those who had been killed... But these deaths seem... pointless.
Sythe wasn't a saint by any means. He had killed many people in his life already, but every death on his hands was for a purpose, either for the purpose of his former master, or for the furtherance of his own goals. But these "murders" had no reason or rhyme as to why. And they were so brutal in nature that whoever did commit the murders was a monster that had to be stopped.

As the newscaster described the deaths, Sythe's anger welled up inside of him. For some strange reason, he felt that he should do something about this. And not even knowing why, he called out for Alastair (his friend), to come and watch the news with him. Realizing that the murderer would probably be somewhat trained and powerful... Sythe decided that he would need help in this mission if he was to succeed.

As Alastair came in, Sythe stood up. "I think it's time someone put a stop to whoever is doing this. You and I are going to be that someone."

Alastair walked in to the living room with an old book held in his left hand, he didn't look up from the pages as Sythe spoke but he did listen intently. The two of them had been staying in the manor while they got the renovations in order, though musty and drafty it did make a good base of operations that was mice and secluded.

The Vahla Sorcerer sat down in an old armchair and placed the book's ribbon bookmark between the pages and closed the musty tome. "Uselsess." he muttered as he tossed it with a thud onto a small table beside his chair.

Finally looking at Sythe he glanced at the news and extrapolated what his assassin friend meant needed to be stopped. The mysterious man had taken quite an interest in the case of murders on Vjun, and Alastair had seen him grow more furious with each death that was announced. "We are, are we?" he said with a hint of amusement in his voice and his ever present smirk curling the left corner of his mouth, "And how, my shadowy friend, do you propose we do that?"

Alastair of course was fully on board with this idea of stopping the murders, he just liked making the usually few-worded assassin actually talk from time to time. He was already planning in his head however, the trip to Vjun, where to get information, a quick stop at a bookstore he liked...he was getting off track.

"Knowing you I feel it is safe to assume you have already arranged transport. When do we leave?"

Sythe just stared at Alastair for a moment before responding. "Yes I have transportation arranged."

The Sith didn't like being goaded into a conversation, in fact he felt that words were a complete waste of time. But Alastair was a "chatty" one and needed to be talked to every once in a while. So Sythe obliged. "We need to get to Serenno's space port as soon as possible, so pack whatever books you want to bring and we will leave when you are ready."

He went to his own room, which wasn't much of a room at the moment. It just held a bed and a footlocker... Sythe opened the footlocker and took out his various weapons and placed them on his person. He wasn't about to go on a hunt unprepared. Several throwing knives and stars were put in their proper place and when he was satisfied, he left and headed toward the front door.

Alastair chuckled at Sythe's suggestion that he pack books to bring with, this was essentially how all of their conversations went. Alastair would talk and talk until Sythe would speak a few scentences just to shut him up. It was an interesting friendship to say the least.

Alastair had no need to prepare. His sword and lightsaver were with him as always, and asside from that all he required was the force. He wore the ring he had found on his last excursion with Sythe on his left index finger, he did not yet know what secrets it held but he found himself unwilling to part with it.

He waited for Sythe to prepare himself before the two of them headed out towards the spaceport. Alastair locking the door behind them.

"Perhaps I should invest in a speeder." he chuckled as.they walked down the winding forest road.

Sythe nodded at Alastair's comment. He knew better than to get into that conversation again. Alastair was as tight with his credits as a Krayt dragon was with its meal. The Sorcerer would talk and talk about buying certain things, but Sythe knew it was just talk.
"Once we get to the space port, you may have to part with some of your credits." Transportation never came cheap, and most pilot's realized that they could make a profit off of anyone looking to leave Serenno on a moment's notice. The things was, Sythe actually had a plan already, he just wanted to see Alastiar squirm a bit in thinking that he'd had to actually spend money.

Alastair chuckled again. Sythe knew that the Vahla's purse strings were somewhat tight these days, what with trying to get his home rebuilt and all. But it was mere banter. "Yes I suppose we would have to pay for transportation. A captain shrewd enough to charge a ridiculous rate for last minute travels would not likely be susceptible to mind control." though he did suppose someone could be coerced into lowering those rates, but that was a matter for later.

Eventually the spaceport loomed ahead, Alastair motioned for Sythe to lead the way with an exaggerated bow and sweep of his arm.

Sythe rolled his eyes as he took the lead. "Always dramatic." he said as they finally reached the space port.

They made their way to a smaller hangar bay and the Sith knocked on the door. It opened revealing a rather small Ugnaut who snorted upon seeing Sythe. "You the one who needs a ride?"
Sythe nodded.
"Per our agreement. You take us to Vjun, no questions." He jerked a thumb back at Alastair. "He's paying."

The Ugnaut looked at the Sith Sorcerer and snorted again. "Fine by me, as long as I get paid. Get aboard, we leave in ten."
The pig led them to his ship, which wasn't the most cleanest thing in the galaxy, in fact the two of them would have to watch where they sat if they wanted to stay clean at all.
The Ugnaut didn't even start the engines until Alastair paid him what was owed...

Alastair sneered at the disgusting state of the vessel Sythe had hired for them, and looked down at the greedy Ugnaut for a moment before paying the ridiculous wage he asked. The vahla briefly considered just killing the small creature and taking his ship, but that would be messy and time consuming.

He took a spot beside Sythe as they waited for takeoff. "Perhaps on our next excursion we shall find a cleaner transport." he groaned, eliciting a dirty look from the Ugnaut.

Sythe shrugged. It made no difference to him what the ship was like, as long as they got to their destination. "Anything else would be more expensive."
The Ugnaut's ship was gross inside for sure, but the engines were sound and it ran like a new ship. Soon the Ugnaut had them in orbit and then in hyperspace on their way to Vjun.

While in flight, Sythe looked at Alastair. It was time to plan... First, the question loomed as to how they would find the killer.
"We need to probably talk to the local authorities. You get to do the talking. Unless you have other ideas?"

Alastair nodded, conceeding Sythe's point about the expense. After the assassin opened up the planning process the Vahla Sorcerer stroked his chin in thought for several minutes. His mind running through every possible rout they could take to find and end this murderer.

"Yes, we will speak to the authorities. But we will tell them that we have been dispatched by the Empire to investigate these deaths in secret. They will be under the impression that our mission is so top secret -as investigations often are in high profile cases- that there are no files, not a single record of our assignment. They will think that breaking that secrecy will be punishable by death." Alastair paused, both to catch his breath and to let the plan settle. "The quieter we keep our presence there the quicker we can catch this killer."

"Agreed." Sythe replied. There was no use announcing their presence to whoever the killer was. It would only make them run and hide.
Sythe was still going to let Alastair do the talking... it would be better that way.

As the ship entered hyperspace, the two continued with their plans... The hunt was on.
