Life on the smuggler’s moon continued. For almost a week gladiatorial games had been held in honor of the Hutt Lords in Nar Shaddaa’s newest constructed arena. Since then thousands of spectators had packed inside watching man and beast fight one another for their delight. Of course there were occasions prisoners or slaves were condemned to horrific slaughter. Tonight was such in an event.

Underneath the colosseum, Vilkas in his gunslinger armor advanced through a sewer tunnel next to Republic Agent Brion Varanus. “Just a little further and we’ve reach our goal.” He remarked to the human in the deep Nelvaanian accent always present in his voice. The task before them both was daunting, more than twenty Republic prisoners of war were going to be feed to the beasts as reported from reliable sources within Hutt Space.

To prevent this from happening Republic intelligence services assigned Brion Varanus to mount a recuse effort with his team along accompanied by the mercenary Vilkas. The wolfman had come to greatly respect the agent for his leadership and bravery during conflict.

We will certainly need it in what’s to come. Vilkas thought, turning the next corridor in the shadows. High above the team can faintly hear the roar of the masses, clamoring for blood.

Brion had some knowledge on the gladatorial games that took place in the Hutt Cartel borders. No he had never seen one before in person. But from what he does know about them. Well the Alderaanian is eager to get as many Republic troops out of there as he can. Or die trying after hearing what the fate of those soldiers will be.

Yes it was a quicker end than rotting in a disease infested prison cell. But the end is far too barbaric to be tolerated. If only the man in the top seat in the Republic had a bit more of a backbone and what not, then the war can be brought to an end and the leaders of the Cartel charged for some sort of war crime. The agent also didn't like the idea of the top.man pretty much abandoning their closest allies and siding with the Sith. But Brion is far too low in the chain to be able to do anything about it. So this is all that he can do and hope that it will give future generations some good points in history to take note of. Two men against all odds saving prisoners of war from a cruel end. Of course that is not something Brion can see being put in the history books yet. The agent and the wolfman had to see their mission through to the end first.

Dressed in his Judicial Uniform complete with his matching parka, Brion followed Vilkas through the sewers. He was assigned to lead the rescue mission, and knew exactly who he wanted to be at his side. He had come to respect Vilkas's skills and see the Nelvaanian as a comrade. As well as a friend despite the two of them having no contact with each other outside of missions.

The Republic Agent followed Vilkas around the corner. Three of his men in tow. Due to the risks with the mission and it being best to go undetected for as long as possible. Brion only brought twelve of his best men. With three with them and the remainder spread out to cover as much ground as possible, the agent took a deep breath as the roar of the crowd above them was heard almost as clear as day. They are running out of time. Brion had set his comlink to vibrate as each team got into position. Each team having an assigned vibration. Feeling one set vibration from one team then another set assigned to another. One is behind schedule. They should have been in position by now, "Two of the teams are in position now. Just got one more to get into position." He told Vilkas as he began to wonder if the last team was captured or simply got lost. He hoped that it was the latter.

”They will have to catch up. Time is running out for the prisoners.” Vilkas replied before stopping at a flight of stairs. According to intel this place used to be a factory until repurposed into arena. Saves up costs apparently.

It seemed the cartel did not consider the possibility someone would use the old schematics to find the underground stairs. Allowing Brion and the other men with him in after opening the small gate Vilkas then followed them in. Remaining in the lead the Nelvaanian continued upward until he reached the locked door. Fortunately he had been provided the old door card from a desperate begger that used to work at the former factory.

Simple things can achieve success if one finds the measure to do so.

The door opened with a slide and Vilkas entered with an empty room wielding the repeater. Seeing and smelling nothing the wolfman sginal Brion it was safe to proceed.

Brion nodded though deep in thought the officer acknowledged his comrade, "In that case. Let's get a move on.. If we can get into position soon enough it will give us time to observe and find a location to get our comrades out of this place." He replied as Vilkas came to a stop at a set of stairs.

It appeared to the Republic officer as they progressed with ease, the the Hutt did not think about revamping this place to be a bit more secure. Or they decided that the old system is proficient enough. Following the wolfman he was glad that either way things are going smoothly. As they are not in position yet to move up the time table efficiently enough to get at least some of the prisoners out. He accepted the fact that some lives will most likely be lost even if they didn't have to move up the timetable. The Hutt will respond violently, that is a guarantee.

As the door swung open after Vilkas used thar door key of his, Brion raised his rifle in preparation for hostiles on the other side. An empty room again. That means the guards are possibly up watching what is going on up above them as well. Brion followed the Nelvaanian into the room, at the other side was an open door. Brion cautiously walked over, peeking into the open doorway he looked back over to Vilkas, signalling that the hallway on the other side of the doorway is clear in both directions, "The guards must be up top watching whatever is going on in the ring." He noted after noting that they haven't come across any guards at all since they arrived.

And it appeared that they will be getting into position sooner than they planned because further up the hallway down Brion's left was an open doorway that led to the arena. Brion looked to the three men that were assigned to the Officer and Wolfman, "You three know what to do." He told them watching the three of them leave to get into position. Nodding to Vilkas he headed to the open doorway, looking out he had to blink a bit to adjust to the bright lighting. The guards had to have been in the massive crowd since he can't see them. Keeping to the little bit of shadow the doorway provided, Brion moved so that his comrade can take a look as well. Their position put them at one side of the arena and level with the.. Stage that entertained the onlookers.

While catching glimpses of the barbaric show taking place in the arena of a slave been torn apart by a pack of some sort of animal Brion had never seen before, the officer looked around, easily able to spot his men, "All of them are in place.. Even the ones assigned to the upper floors." He noted as he stood there observing. Having seen enough, Brion is ready to go find the prisoners. The prisoners are most likely kept in groups according which doors will be leading to their brutal, barbaric deaths. Sounded easy to hit the individual groups at once, but the prisoners are most likely surrounded by guards. It will take a miracle and a lot of successful coordination between the teams to successfully get all the groups at once.

Vilkas was no stranger to the chains of slavery. Having lived through himself. His highly attuned ears picked up the screams of the slaves being slaughtered for a mob’s savage enjoyment. It’s one thing to watch warriors to fight who had done so out of their own free will but not glorfified massacre.

The wolfman’s blood boiled at the very thought. With snarled teeth and hands gripping the blaster ever more tightly, Vilkas continued on the path with Brion. Reaching the doorway he waited silently for his comrade to be in position. When the agent was ready and informed him all the teams were set Vilkas suppressed a sigh before saying.

“Now.”

With that word, Vilkas burst out from doorway and fired on the nearest guard, a Gamorran. The green pig squealed in his dying breath with blaster bolts ripping through the body. Meanwhile the rest of team began their collective assault, taking the hostiles mostly by surprise. Soon enough shouts of curses and panicked filled fires echoed the arena with blaster fire. Two agents however, were killed at one of the doors close by while another was wounded slighly in one of the arms.

As his comrade gave the word for the teams to move, Brion stepped out of his hiding spot. Blood boiling at the cruel treatment of both prisoners and slaves in the arena. Like he did on that train, he will not be showing any mercy. He took aim at the other Gamorran as Vilkas took out the other. His bolt nailed the guard right in the forehead and the body immediately toppled to the ground.

Then a report from one of the groups below came through, "We have one group of prisoners secured. Proceeding to the extraction point." Brion was pleased with the fact that one group of prisoners to be rescued was secured. But that was overshadowed with the report two of his men were killed and a third wounded in the arm. As the man took cover as he eyed a Twi'lek running over, a second report came in from another group stating they have a second group of prisoners secured. Despite how rough this mission is so far, it seems that they just might be getting all the prisoners secured and out of here. Though Brion can only hope that they will succeed in getting all the prisoners out of this hell hole.

When the Twi'lek got into range, the Alderaanian raised his weapon. Firkng a fatal bolt into his chest. Watching the body crumble to the ground he lookes to the Wolfman to make sure he is alright, "Two groups are secure." He finally said to let his comrade know of the reports he got.

Vilkas nodded as he searched for another target. Suddenly a blaster shot grazed his left side from behind. Hissing with pain the wolfman twisted firing several laser bolts at the shooter, a Weequay from above a balcony. Struck in both the chest and face, the wrinkle faced alien fell off the balcony hitting one of the now empty stands with a thud. “I’ll be fine.” Vilkas said through gritted teeth to ward any concern from Brion.

Together they advanced down the steps gunning down any of the remaining guards in the way toward one of the pens below. Picking up what he assume was a remote from the newly made corpses Vilkas examined it.

“Press the orange button in the middle it’s open this damn cage.” Said a purple Twi’lek female inside the pen in front of Brion and him.

Without hesitation, Vilkas did as requested and the pen’s door opened up. As soon it did however the Twi’lek who came out first was shot through the head from the left corner by a large human thug. Swifty Vilkas struck back, blasting the hostile in the stomach. Some of the other prisoners coming grabbed their dead comrade, saying. “We’re not leaving her.”

Nodding with understanding Vilkas with Brion guilded their new party ran back up the steps to where they came. Meanwhile Agent Varanus would be notified by his men that they secured everyone else and were heading back underground.

Brion looked at Vilkas with visible concern when his comrade was grazed by a blaster bolt. If it was a little more to the right it would have been a mortal wound and the agent would have been facing a dead comrade and friend. The officer heard someone shouting behind him, firing off three shots as he saw that it was an enemy guard. The body slumped to the ground just as Vilkas found a remote to the cage the purple female Twi'lek told them. As well as how to open it. The officer looked in complete shock that as he moved to help her, the beautiful creature's life was robbed from her cruelly.

Brion nodded to her comrades in understanding. But none of them are in the condition to carry the Twi'lek, "I will carry her for you. Here take this." He told the bloke that spoke up as he handed the man his rifle. Once the weapon was handed over, the Republic Agent gently scooped the Twi'lek into his arms. As he straightened himself the man got reports from the remaining teams that they have the prisoners secured and are heading to the ships.

He looked to the group and gestured for them to follow, "Let's get out of here." He said to them firmly. The man wanted to get everyone out before anyone else gets hurt or meets the same fate as the woman in his arms. Some of his men came back for their fallen comrades, taking the bodies back to the ships just as the group arrived. He waited for everyone to board the ships before getting on himself. He laid the Twi'lek on a hammock in front of him and Vilkas, "Take off. Notify command that there have been some casualties and injuries. But the mission was a success." He told the communications officer as the shuttles started to take off. He pulled the sheet over her head then leaned back with a soft sigh.
