[Ava Xeto]

Takodana

This was a first for Ava. In her very short time as a Jedi Knight, she had been entrusted with certain tasks, but this was the first time that she had been assigned to help a padawan with their dueling. She was excited about the opportunity and wanted to do the best job she possibly could. The padawan’s name was Rhyss Mar. She only knew a couple of other things about them. They were a Kel Dor and they were only a year younger than her.

Ava sat on a rock at the edge of the forest. She was wearing her usual outfit, her lightsaber at her waist. The rock she was sat on looked out over a lush green field. The field would provide a good open area for the training. The bright, sunny weather created a nice backdrop. A small box, containing a couple of training sabers, sat next to the rock.

Knowing she had a little bit of time; she took the chance to smoke a cigarra. A bad habit of hers, which people were always telling her to kick.

[Rhyss Mar]

A light sheen of sweat coated Rhyss' torso as the Padwan worked through his lightsaber sequences, his blade humming in the bright morning air. While Rhyss was no Jedi Master, his particular brand of Shii-Cho and Niman was well-practiced and refined far beyond the level of most Padawan. This, of course, presented a problem for the Kel Dor. None of the other Padwans training on Takodana could really push him anymore, and any Master was far too busy to spare time for someone who wasn't their personal Padawan. That left Rhyss to practice quietly on his own: something he didn't really mind, but that he knew would impact his overall fighting ability.

Thankfully, he had run across Master Xeto, a recently appointed Jedi Knight, in the Temple's cafeteria one day, and the young Knight had agreed to give him some personal instruction. While she was only a little older than himself, Rhyss figured she had something to teach him. Hopefully.

After finishing his workout, Rhyss changed into fresh training gear, grabbed some food, and walked out to the training field his instructor had indicated. He didn't even need to reach out with the Force to find her: the tell-tale stench and sight of smoke gave the Knight away as clearly as if she had sent up a flare.

"Master Xeto. Thank you for taking the time to instruct me." Rhyss rumbled, bowing his head. "Shall we begin?"

“Hey Rhyss. How are you?” She smiled at the Jedi Padwan and stubbed out her cigarra on the rock, before standing up and continuing. “Can’t kick the habit,” she said in reference to the cigarra, smiling again.

“I’m no master. You can call me Ava,” she said, in a warm tone of voice. “And I’m happy to have the chance to instruct you.”

Rhyss seemed very eager to get started. “Sure. If you’re ready.” Taking the two training sabers from the box, she then handed one to Rhyss.

Walking into the open field, she gestured for Rhyss to follow. “Ok, this seems like a good spot.” She ignited her training saber, a blue blade projecting from the emitter. “Let’s see what you can do,” she stated cheerily.
