Deep in the Jungles of Rishi, Jedi Hopefuls Nikka Torren and Horus Tempest prepare to face off in a bout of training. As such, the combatants are prepared to engage each other, blindfolded, with wooden sticks that act as weapons. As of now, Horus is in a centered guard, tilted slightly to the right, and ready to intercept any incoming blows. His stance is lowered for maximum efficiency, his senses attuned and ready for the whooshing sound. The tap between sticks was made, and thusly, the fight began. He maintained his focus on waiting to hear his enemies movements, trying to see her through the veil of the Force.

Her posture was left to lowered standard guard, stick lowered with intent to block. Her senses were attuned for focus, clarity, listening to her opponent's breathing and sensing the flow of movement with her species' peculiar attunement to the Force. Her footsteps would track to the right as silently as possible, guard still maintained.

Horus stepped forward, leading with his right foot, moving in a circular motion. Just slightly off to Nikka's side, he launched a stab at her abdomen, centered from his chest. He kept his hands close around the 'hilt' of the stick, ready to pull the stick back to block any incoming attacks. It was quick enough that most people would have trouble blocking it, Horus, however, knew Nikka was better versed in this style of sight and made certain to stay braced in case he needed to retreat rapidly. His legs were coiled like a feline's, ready to pounce forward or jump backward at any given moment.

She twisted as his lunge was made to her abdomen, feinting to the left so that the stick skimmed past her waist. A grin widened as her own stick would lunge for his side in retaliation from the right, if the movement was dodged she could use the momentum to retain her guard if necessary. Only one hand was used for the lunge. Despite his own blindness, she was certain he had fought like this before.

Feeling the stab hit nothing and a sudden shift in the air around him, Horus pushed downwards with the hilt, sending his weapon sideways across the incoming stab, parrying it aside. In response, he twisted his wrist and came in with a high strike to the left shoulder. It was a crooked strike, one that used the back of his hand's torque to bring the weapon about. He had fought with a stick when he was a little kid, his father had taught him how to use the technique. Nikka would have to be fast to manage a block considering her weapon was locked to the right side until the last moment.

The energy that flowed through this one... it sparked with every movement. The air whistled faintly around the sudden twisted high strike, her only clue to snap back from the stabbing position to a higher defensive stance, barely. She grunted as the impact jarred over her shoulder. "First hit," she grunted, still grinning. "How'd you do it?"

"I've been doing this for a while. Fighting is one of my specialties."

He felt slightly uneasy striking her with such intensity, but in reality, an enemy would not stop due to a single strike, nor conversation. If he was to give her an accurate depiction of what fighting was like, he had to continue, so he tapped the stick again and went in for a simple slash to the right side of her chest as he replied. OOC: Remember to tag :)

"A lot of people don't use the edge of the blade on both sides"

The moment he paused to speak, she prepared to attack. Unexpectedly she had sensed his own slash to her side... barely. The momentum gave her just enough time to duck, and attempt a strike again. Distraction was her own forte. She wasn't nearly as strong... but there was some advantage to being small and relatively fast.

She ducked beneath his strike. Or so he could only assume as he heard and felt no impact. Instead, a whistling greeted his ear, and so he rotated the sword clockwise from the attempted slash, hoping to catch any incoming attacks. The one benefit he had was positioning, when he struck he did so in such a way that pulling his weapon back would create a decent block. He was, however, slow and took a hit to his outer arm. Switching stances, he brought his left hand forward in a sweeping motion to take her legs. He wouldn't use the arm for the moment.

She had to try to roll sideways; from her awkwardly lowered position, going higher would have left her sides open, and going even lower would mean being unable to defend or attack. The stick still managed to knock at one of her knees just as she curled down; when she managed to turn upright, she was suddenly to his left. Perfect.

She would try to swing again, this time to his own right shoulder... but the stance wasn't perfect. If he blocked it, she would be forced to take a step closer to compensate the distance.

From what he could hear, she was a whirlwind of movement. He didn't smile when he felt his weapon connect with something - barely - as he had no intention of harming her. But, it was meant as practice, so he immediately went in and stepped to the side, bringing the weapon across his body from right to left. Ironically, his initial attacks always went into blocks, which made it all the more satisfying when he felt the clack of wood. Horus had blocked her strike, and in response stepped forward immediately. He pushed forward with his own weapon and grabbed halfway along the 'blade', driving it inwards in a stab.

She felt the energy driven behind his movements; a true enemy wouldn't give any leniency. That thought crystallized in her mind as he used her attack against her by blocking it, then moving forward. Sure enough, she had to step forward, angling sideways as she did so. Her own stick slid forward with the momentum driving forward as well. If he suddenly didn't twist or shift backwards, what would happen would be an interesting lock; his stick at her abdomen, and hers... poised over his heart. And if he didn't move, she'd poke at him, grinning.
