The first day was always the same; the new student in his class was always late. The typical rule was to meet at sunrise; however, it was not Tían Velvar’s rule. He strictly began directly at sunrise; if a student did not arrive before hand, he usually released his sarcastic behavior ruthlessly. This was no exception on the very first day of training.

The master sat in a meditation stance. He did not move a single muscle in his position. Even so, he was perfectly aware of his surroundings. He knew that the sun had come up and the student wasn’t present. He was sick of the other masters saying to be at training at sunrise; he wished that one time his new student would come before the rise. Yet, to this date it had never happened, even with the early birds.

Mentally the master kept vigilant. As the student entered, he demonstrated his sarcastic disposition clearly. “It seems that you have become old in the time it took you to be late,” Tían chuckled. “All your hair must have fallen out in your lengthy sleep.” Of course, it was obvious that the student was not old, but the teacher did not restrain himself from such comments. Even though his eyes were closed, he could still tell the features of his pupil. Whenever a new student arrived at the time the other masters preferred, he tended to make fun of unique characteristics. “Training begins at sunrise. You are to arrive beforehand.”

*So much for greeting him politely. Tyran was still quite sleepy. He had stayed up most of the night trying to get his new datapad to work so that it would set an alarm to wake him up...but he overslept. Now his Master was making fun of him. Not a good way to start his life as a Padawan. But Tyran wasn't one to forget the formalities of greeting a Master, as he bowed lowly and spoke clearly. He stifled his yawn to make sure that his Master wouldn't see that he wasn't capable of waking up this early, although it sure was a pain.*

"Greetings Master. Thank you for telling me. I have no excuse."

*Rubbing his eyes to shake off the sleepiness, Tyran shivered slightly at the cold, and found himself walking towards a seemingly harmless man. This man's dark brown hair was ruffled slightly, and was cleanly shaved. His Master's eyes were shut and deep in meditation. Tian Velvar...Jedi Master...his Master and guide to becoming a Jedi. He didn't look like some of the other gung-ho Masters and Knights, but he sure had this peace and calm thing down. Hopefully he wouldn't get another bad rap about his tardiness. After all, it did seem a bit eccentric to begin training at sunrise.

Moving all these random thoughts aside, Tyran was quite excited to begin his training. It was his last year as a Jedi Youngling and now he was on his way to becoming a Jedi Padawan. He couldn't stop thinking about the new experiences and people he was going to meet, but kept it to himself. Rule one of the Jedi Code. "There is no emotion...there is peace." Containing such excitement wasn't hard for Tyran...after all...he kept his anger and seclusion welled up in his mind...never really forgetting it...and trying to let it go. Still, it was awkward for his Master to call him at this time in the morning to begin his new chapter of life...and his Master was meditating. Tyran didn't want to be cynical...but what the heck was his Master doing meditating?! Aren't Masters supposed to be teaching Padawans about Force Powers and lightsabers instead of sitting on the ground and letting go of your mind?! This was all in his head...so Tyran made no avail to show his emotions and thoughts on his face...although he had heard some Jedi Masters were pretty good at reading thoughts. Hopefully, his Master wasn't reading his mind and picking at his brain at the moment.*

It was true that Tían was one of the oddest Jedi in the Order. He took his role as a Jedi Counselor seriously and had a very pacifistic mind frame. He rarely carried any weapon, because he was skilled enough with the Force to let it do his talking. He was also known to be one of the least charismatic Jedi; the master would always speak his mind regardless of the feelings of the others. He would also never pass up a moment where he could release a sarcastic comment.

Tían didn’t get too many students. It wasn’t because he wasn’t enthusiastic about teaching; his training style was too strict and robust for many students. It seemed every time another master would use one difficult training measure, this master would try to top it. Tían, in fact, felt free to push his student’s limits. He used a power in training, formally called Advanced Dreamscape; he referred to it as Force Hallucination. Once he activated it, he could make the training surroundings anything he wished. However, he was always careful to make everything as realistic as possible.

On activating the power, a slight ripple flew across the Force. Tían knew that the student wouldn’t recognize it; he was too deep in though to pick up the minor disturbance. In the meditation stance, the master could easily sense everything going on the room; the trail of thoughts of not just the student but passing people as well could be heard clearly. In his position, he was more attuned to the Force than he ever could be. His Force Sense ability could be nigh uninhibited in this state, due to his powerful communion with the Force outside of the current stance. However, he did not reveal the fact he could sense the inner thoughts of his student.

“Tell me your understanding of the Eight Tenets.” Tían did not say any more than that. The student you have learned them in his previous training. He wasn’t looking for a recitation of them. The master sought the students interpretation of them.

*Tyran quickly recalled the eight tenets within his mind and then carefully choose his wording as he told his Master his interpretation of the Eight Tenets.*

"The first tenet is a moral conflict, where a Jedi must decide what will benefit the galaxy in both short and long terms in order to create peace and order in the galaxy, according to the standards of the government at the time and take action along those lines.

The second tenet is a warning, telling Jedi that emotions are something uncontrollable, but that controlling emotions not to cloud one's judgment will lead to becoming more unified with the Force.

The third Tenet is a further interpretation of the second tenet, only focused on the emotion of love. Love can be a double-edged sword, where pain and sorrow lay on one end, and deep compassion and peace lay on the other. To be able to love without causing pain and sorrow will keep one close to the Light Side of the Force.

The fourth Tenet is the description of the values of life, and how a Jedi must act to preserve it. If life must be lost, let the lives lost not be in vain, and create a better society for the lives to come whereas all will be lost if one is greedy or has a personal gain from saving one person over a community.

The fifth Tenet is a rule about defending the weak and helpless, where one cannot strike down such a being and should be defended because he or she cannot do it themselves. To help them is a different issue, where one must tread carefully in order not to disturb the peace of the government residing there and to follow the Tenets and Jedi Code as well.

The sixth Tenet is the description of inner free will, as each person's judgment may be slightly different from one another. If a Jedi must do what he believes is right, he or she will follow that path to create their 'morally right decision,' but not create such a disturbance within the Jedi Council so that the Grandmaster and other Jedi Council members must take a look into it.

The seventh Tenet is the rule about living a frugal life. Jedi may have belongs before they join the Order, but what they do with it afterwards is what counts the most. One can forsake his fortune and let it benefit the galaxy rather than waste it all up for personal gain or greediness.

Finally, the eight Tenet is the utmost important rule about looking towards the Force for guidance when one is in need and to reflect about one's decision not only stemming the past, but from present and future to create a peaceful galaxy for one to live in."

*After Tyran had described that, he felt quite out of breath. That was a mouthful of words spouting out of his mouth. Hopefully, nothing was too offensive, but everyone was entitled to his or her opinion.*

Tían did not say anything as Tyran finished. The majority of what he said was reasonable enough. The master didn't really like to discuss the Jedi philosophy at just one moment anyway. He preferred to talk about it during the rest of the training, when applications would require a Jedi-like mind. The teacher did not remain silent forever. He still had instructing to do.

"Tell me the skills that you have been taught up to this point." He was going to test any that he may already know right off.

*Tyran looked from side to side for a moment. He wasn't really sure what skills he had been taught...or what his Master meant by it. Tyran made stuff move with the Force; he figured that out a long time ago. Stuff just started to float around him and he figured out how he did that. Tyran didn't know if he could call that a skill...*

"Master. I can levitate things with the Force, if you consider that a skill."

“Ah,” Tían remained in his motionless position. He did not plan to move until the training was to be done. At this moment, he was just going to test the student’s skills. In this instance, he was testing basic telekinesis. He was certain to fix any mistakes that Tyran might have. Right then, however, he wanted to see what his student could do. A table was in the far corner of the room, and a datapad rested on the top. Tían was going to use that for training. “It is a skill.” The master took a deep breath and gently exhaled. He took his meditation seriously, even during training hours. “It is telekinesis. I want you to move that datapad on that table to in front of me.” He could judge the training and skill by the process the student did the test.

*Tyran merely nodded his head, as his hand rose from his side slowly. He wasn't in too much of a rush to move the datapad through the Force as he was trying to get a connection with it. As he felt the Force Particles starting to surround the Datapad, he could feel the connections to the Force within him open up and flow quickly and steadily through his body. Letting the Force Particles flow freely, he summoned them all together to suddenly lift the datapad, and then made it zoom over to his Master, as it went flying over to Tyran's palm with a quickness before stopping itself right before it smashed into Tyran's palm. Then, it took a quick downward dive, and landed quite softly on the ground next to Master Velvar, with Tyran's control of acceleration of the object through the Force. It wasn't smooth yet, and it was kinda jerky, but he did raise the object, fly it over to his Master, and place it in front of him.*

"Perhaps you should hold off from the ale before practice." Velvar chuckled as he teased the student. He then returned to his serious state rapidly. "Not bad: you may have it master in a few years if you practice diligently." He didn't often praise students, and often responded to successfulness with some form of harsh comment. "Now I will teach you an important skill: Force Sense. It is not difficult to learn the basics. Open your mind to the Force and listen. It will tell you about the surrounding things. At a beginners level, you will only see things living in a blurred form. As you progress, your vision with Sense will increase dramatically."

There were a few people walking outside of the training room. The master spoke regarding them. "Practice by telling me how many people are outside this room."

"Thank you Master."

*Tyran was happy at his Master's compliment and at the same time raised an eyebrow. He knew of Force Sense, its concept, and somewhat how to perform the task of Force Sense. Tyran...just hadn't ever practiced it before. Taking a deep breath, Tyran's connection to the Force bloomed just a little bit further, as the particles of the Force swirled around him gently before being pushed away to 'Sense' the room. Closing his eyes, Tyran could feel the Force under his control as the Force Particles were becoming more and more distant, yet still clear under Tyran's control.

Within moments, Tyran had felt the Force Particles within everything in a small radius of 20 to 25 feet. It wasn't a lot...maybe just a little bit more than 5 feet outside of the room, but it was enough to find people around the training area. The enthralling feeling of being connected to the Force was one thing, but this blurry haze of feeling other distinct Force Particles swirling around him was something else. It was hard to discern the 3 figures walking outside the training room, but doable at the moment.

There were beads of sweat rolling down Tyran's forehead as he quickly focused himself to make sure there were 3 figures around the vicinity. Then, he spoke to his Master.*

"Master, there are 3 people around the training room."

((Sorry for the wait))

"Four actually." Tían chuckled at his statement. In the state of meditation he could easily see anyone within a large radius. He didn't mind being picky about everything. The fourth was over ten meters away, which could be considered out of range because it was. Few students could see so clearly that far on their first try.

"Now we will practice a telepathic skill called Force Projection." Tían demonstrated with the next statement. It allows one to speak to another through the Force. With the Force, look at the person you seek.” He paused for a second; he didn’t want to overload him with information all at one time. “Now, focus as if you were to talk physically. Do not engage throat or mouth; instead of sending the message to those places, keep the idea in your mind. It is an odd feeling at first; it is no more than talking silently. The same energy is expelled, yet instead of sound waves, you send the thoughts through the Force.”

*Tyran had dropped all concentration from using Force Sense as an eyebrow jerked up as he found himself listening to his Master's voice in his head. At first, Tyran believed that Master Velvar was actually talking to him, but his Master's lips weren't moving. It could have been ventriloquism, but his Master had called it Force Projection. It seemed like mere Telepathy, but Telepathy in itself was an amazing feat to accomplish and do.

He followed his Master's instructions step by step. First, he created a mental image of Master Velvar within his mind, subconsciously focusing on his Force Signature. Second, he told himself not to open his mouth or use his vocal chords, but to 'talk in his own head.' It was like shutting off the messages that were sent from his brain to his mouth and redirecting the messages from his brain into his brain, if that made any sense. It was like keeping a small train of thought in a loop within the mind. Like his Master had said, it was talking silently.

And here was the final and most difficult part...sending the message through the Force. The Force was pure energy, and so was talking. So, by using the Force as his vocal median, Tyran focused on Master Velvar's Force Signature, and although not knowing it, subconsciously created a path from Master Velvar's mind to his own, linking the two together. Then, he spoke silently, hoping that the Force would become his voice and that the thought would travel into Master Velvar's mind.*

"Hello? Can you here me Master Velvar?"

"I can." Tían spoke with his physical voice. Without hesitation, the master who had sat in complete stillness stood up. He moved towards the door as if he had already given the student directions. Finally, as he reached the arch he spoke. "We will continue your training in travel." The Jedi continued from the room towards the hanger bay. A ship stood waiting for the two. The master signed his name off to the hanger directive and boarded. As soon as his student had joined him, he started the vessel and directed it from the ground.

The student wouldn't exactly realize it at the moment, but the scene was not real. Tían had activated his Advanced Dreamscape, a powerful hallucination ability, and controlled the environment around him. The purpose was to allow more risk in training without risk of actual death. Unfortunately, the teacher's training methods could be traumatic if preformed on the wrong student. Even so, the power would teach a student many things. If the youth could realize and break the hallucination, he would show the teacher a true understanding of the Force.

*There was a subtle itch from the back of Tyran's brain as his brain sensors were being fed with images and feelings from the Force, rather than the real life experience. It didn't seem different, but only the small, insignificant fact that the Force was feeding the images was the key to all of this.

At the moment, Tyran had just stepped on board to the plane, somewhat scared of where the ship might lead them. So far, everything seemed normal. The smell of fuel, the looks of a regular Jedi vessel, and training was on its way. Yet, something just didn't seem right. It still felt different, although nothing seemed different. It was as if someone had pulled a sheet over Tyran's eyes, yet nothing had changed. This eerie feeling wasn't right. It might have been the fear of visiting the outside world...but, that wasn't the right feeling. Tyran had a different, disturbing feeling. What was it?*

"Master. Where are we going?"

"That will be a surprise." Tían spoke quickly after the student asked his question. "However, while we wait for the ship to take us to our destination, I will continue the training." Once the autopilot had been set and the ship had exited atmosphere and was in hyperspace, the teacher led the student into the large lounge area. "I will now teach you the power called Force Aura."

“Force Aura is difficult to learn,” Tían spoke carefully. While the hallucination still stood, nothing was noticeably out of place. “The technique requires a connection to the light side of the Force. It cannot be done in the presence of anger or rage. A Jedi must listen to the light; this is almost like a light side Force Sense. However, one can go deeper. The Force can tell you when a danger is coming; you must learn how to ask it. The Force responds differently to different people; the process of communing with it is always a bit different, but the results and overall techniques is the same. Once the Force “understands” your want for the knowledge of pending dangers, it will alert you to them.”

Tían nodded towards the student to give it a try. What the master was planning on doing was to attack the student in a minor amount. It was to give the student an idea of how aura alerts a Jedi to incoming harm. The test came a few short minutes after the lecture ended. Without any sound, a glass, located on a table behind the student, soared as a projectile. If aura was used correctly, the student would be aware of the incoming danger.

*This "Force Aura" was indeed quite perplexing to understand. It seemed like Force Precognition mixed with Force Sense and then rolled and put together as one. As Tyran tapped into the vast energies of the Force, the Light Sided connection was very subtle, and as Tyran calmly concentrated, the connection grew deeper and stronger. Unawares of the incoming glass, Tyran's mind was filled with an odd euphoria from the deep connection from the Force. This Force Aura wasn't that bad after all.

Suddenly, Tyran heard a whizz through the air as the Force instinctively told him to duck. His body responded with ease as his lower body relaxed as his upper body immediately fell to the ground as gravity would decree and the glass missed him by a hair. Even as the glass flew past his head, Tyran had already felt the incoming projectile. How he knew, he couldn't really explain, but had the Force to thank for saving his head. As his Master had said, the Force responded differently with every Jedi, and the Force somehow didn't need Tyran to ask for pending dangers...although Tyran did ask for know if he was in danger or not subconsciously due to his shyness. Well, whatever he did saved his life.*

"Master...I don't like the idea of projectiles flying at me without me knowing."

*Tyran had made the joke to lighten the mood. After all, his Master seemed to like doing these little attacks on Tyran unawares and it was somewhat fun. It reminded him of the training lightsaber and the helmet drill, or whatever it was called.*

"Another important skill to know is healing." Tían gave a short description of the technique. It wasn't terribly difficult; one again it basically required communicating with the Force to do some feat. In this case, the feat was repairing minor lacerations. Taking a piece of glass that had smashed against the wall, Tían swiftly cut the student on the arm. The reason of hurting the youth was not for enjoyment; the teacher realized that if the student could do it to himself while in pain, he could do it to others under normal circumstances.

*Tyran immediately winced from the quick slash from his Master. The pain wasn't terrible, but it stung smartly. With a deep breath to focus himself, Tyran let the Force flow through him like the calm rivers that flowed to the seas of Mon Calimari. His eyes focused in on the cut as he placed a hand over his gash. Tyran's hands clowed a pale blue as he used Force Sense instinctively to focus on the cut, clearing away the dead skin cells and blood clotting with the Force. Then, he used the Force to speed up the growth of new skin cells as the wound magically closed itself and appeared normal, but if one hit it, it would still sting.*

"I hope I did that right Master. I don't want to make my wound infected or do anything wrong to my body."
