The council had once more given Ro a mission of sorts. This one, rather than attend a class, Ro was instructed to actually teach one of the Order’s few younglings. They believed that rehabilitation and reformation could come through this training by maybe forming a bond or friendship between him and the youngling they assigned to him. However, this plan was most definitely not a sure fire plan. The Council worried that Ro, in his teachings, would exercise some unJedi like ways of going about his training of the child. But they believed any such kinks in the younglings training could easily be reworked to the Jedi’s way and ultimately they viewed this as a promising chance to get the young Zabrak back on track before they lost him.

The Council told him that they would take care of informing the youngling of their training session with the him in his present location. So now Ro waited for the young change in one of the training rooms assigned to him for the training of said child. All he could do now was wait.

Orphen was told that there was a Knight in the ranks of the Jedi who specialised or at the very least was gifted in the art of telekinesis. She overflowed with joy about the concept of being tought by someone of this description, but that's when the council member crouched down low to her, his eyes were stern and worried almost. He said.

We want you to tell us how he tought you, this man, we don't want to lose him. This is as much your mission as it is his. Show him the joy you see in the force, and perhaps, perhaps you can reach him where we cannot.

So all of a sudden, Orphen felt increadibly important at this point when she walked through the halls of empress teta to a training room which had been reserved for just her and this knight. The masters truly felt concern for this man. She would do her best, though, she was unsure of herself.

As she entered the training room the first thing he would sense is how unbelievably and remarkably average this togrutan girl was for a child. White picket fence, 2.35 children kind of average, he could feel the fraction of medeclorians in her blood which created a strange sense of being in itself.

Orphen looked up at him, still wearing her youngling Blast helmet, the visor was up, so she could see. Though, occasionally she would have it down these days, now that she was able to see through the force thanks to her friend Mira. He seemed strong, but she could sense the clouded nature around him, but it was less of a direct sense and more of a childs intuition.

Hello, master knight... um, I'm Orphen, She bowed low with a strong sense of respect. Increadibly formal

It's a pleasure to meet you... She smiled warmly and brightly. The kind of childlike smile which single handedly shattered any formality. Her bubbling exitement, a little too much to contain.

This was it? This is what the Council had sent him to work with? His calm expression briefly turned to one of fury before changing back to its once more unreadable self. Rage could be the only word to describe him in this instant. How could he, a man who was forged from pain, labor, and loss be expected to train one who had obviously never felt such things? How could he train something so pure? The thought nearly made him cringe. His senses looked deeper in an attempt to find something, to find pain or misery but he found none. All he found was a child of mere average capabilities but he also felt… an oddity? Something in her produced something indescribable. Something that he reasoned was connected to the force. His previous feelings were discarded and in their place a form of acceptance took hold. That oddity that he felt from her was enough to convince him that she may have power and power was something he respected.

“I see you’ve been trained before. Sight alone does not pierce that visors frame.” He stated, wishing to gauge his ‘pupils’ current understanding of the force and to maybe understand the oddity he felt. “I am Ro Mag Den ay’Vyshtal, but you may call me Ro. Your name however, is most peculiar. Were you cast into the unforgiving darkness and forced to climb your way to the top and then taken in? Or were you simply dropped into the arms of a benefact-…” He stopped. Why was he trying to learn about this young girl’s past? It wasn’t as if he was socially inept but he was not one to care about things such as that. Had he let his social ‘wall’ drop or had she managed to bring it down due to her nonthreatening aura? He reasoned that it didn’t matter. He would just have to be more perceptive to himself. “Forget my prying.” He said with a dismissive wave of his hand. “We should begin.”

“Telekinesis; the art of moving an object with the force is something that I hope you will be adept at learning. Your physical body is still weak due to your age and as such you are dependent on advancing through the use of the force. To learn to utilize this ability however, you must learn to harness your will. You must use your will through the force to seize the object and dominate it. You must dominate it to the point that you have total control over what it does and then use it in whatever way you feel best.” He said while retrieving a small stone from his vestments. “A demonstration.” He stated. The rock lay motionless in his palm for a few seconds before it began to raise and then hover a few centimeters above his palm. “To do something even this simple you must dominate and utterly control the object. It must be an unquestioning subject to your every whim. This applies to rocks and… more substantial opposition.” He finished before forcing the rock to levitate over to his new trainee.

“Now you will do it.”

Domination? it was a bizzare thought, dominating an object through the force didn't sound like the way the Jedi were supposed to do things. Orphen was about to tell her a lump of her backstory before he silenced her and continued with his exposition about the pros and processes of telekinesis. Though ultimatly, the intended image was revieled, a stone held aloft above Orphens' head, she was confused...

The light side of the force... could it really Dominate something... She was attempting to reason with herself how this could happen. Focusing on a rock, she attempted the first and most logical strain of thinking. Willing it, ordering it to rise. Attempting to assert control as you would to a person. Her face withered in concentration as stress lines began to appear.

Stopping, this happened a couple of times as she quite simply failed. But, to anyone who could descern it, it was because of the doubt that this was even possible. She couldn't get to grips with it...

Five failed attempts later, and the stone had barely managed to rock in place. She looked up at him and had to question. How can the force, or a person dominate something that is already part of the force? Isn't it, and its actions already controlled? I-I'm sorry I, i don't understant how this works...

She gripped her robes rather nervously, hoping he didn't get angry with her. Even she could feel his anger as she walked into the room, childeren were intuitive at such things. She could understand his anger, she knew she was young, and he probably felt like he was wasting his time. She had to prove to Ro that she was worth training, show him the joy in doing it. At the same time question his philosophy, while attempting to form her own. As she understood little of the force in practice, but, in theory, she knew the principles of the living force. Taking a liking to that mode of thinking.

Failure was the only result that the young girl produced. With each failed attempt a sliver of doubt appeared in his golden eyes. Was he wrong? Did he imagine the strange oddity that he felt within the girl? Or did he mistake the oddity for actual power when it was nothing? He reasoned that he was overthinking things. He knew that his senses had not lied when he felt that anomaly within the girl. She had power, he knew she did but he was perplexed on how to make it rear its head. His observations of the girl’s attempts at telekinesis quickly formed into answers of her failures – they were too different. Ro approached telekinesis through demanding the force to heed his calls, to bend objects to his will, to force them to submit to his every whim. This child, however, was far too pure for methods such as his to work. He could tell that domination was not what she sought to learn or was even capable of performing. He was not even sure that they utilized the same spectrums of the force. Although Ro would claim that he was a warrior of the light, many would also call him a Jedi who was destined to fall and so he wondered if in his usage of the force if he really did use the dark side... He concluded that he was again over thinking things but that he would have to train her in a way different than his own and her inquiry only further proved that realization to him.

“Think of it this way then…” the Zabrak exhaled and put his hand to his face in thought. “The force is something that surrounds and penetrates all things and because it does, we are all connected to it. Form a connection with the force, feel it with every fiber of your being. Rather than dominate it, become its ally. Rather than make it submit, ask it to stand by your side. Make the force your companion rather than your slave…” He paused and his eyes opened wide with realizations. His open talking about the differences between himself and the girls usages of the force opened his eyes to something that he had never truly believed. Rather than allow the force to help him he bent it to his own will, dominated and controlled it like a slave. He shuddered. “What am I doing…” he muttered lightly under his breath as he looked at his hands and then at the child. “What are you doing to me…” he mentally accused. How was this girl, even if indirectly, forcing him to notice his dark actions, dark desires more than anyone else ever could? His focus came back to reality.

“Try it that way… Maybe that will work for you. Forgive me if my instruction is lacking… I am not used to teaching in this manner.” And that was the truth. He neither taught in this way nor did he practice this way of utilizing the force. He wondered if it was possible; to use the force in a way that didn’t require domination or submission. The idea seemed prosperous to him. He wondered if this girl could succeed where he could not. He watched in anticipation.

Rather than changing tact, one who sensed it would for a tiny pico second feel a spike in her force potential as she gocesed again. She instead of dominating the rock merely bode it to lift, and as it lifted she beamed.

I figured it out! she proclaimed still focusing hard on the rock. Though beginning to talk. Well, I don't think you can dominate something through the force, because the force is already dominating it, and you. I think we're given the power that maybe we get to know that, and allow things to move and change within the force... she said with a childlike wisdom and a rather adorable smile.

maybe your minds strong enough for your will to pursuance the force to lift it... But you'd also be wasting a lot of effort in dominating something you don't need to, cause, technically, you already are, and always have been dominating that rock. Because the force controls you both your connected... Well, that's what I think. I think your right. Maybe, just thinking your in control was wrong for me... What do you think?

She was trying to impress him, though, her idea seemed to spread through her mind like chain lightning. Her hesitation and long winded speech was because she was almost deciphering it from somewhere, she couldn't hear the whispers from her blood, from the medeclorians... But they were guiding her thoughts from behind the scenes. There was a whisper, and like the butterfly effect, it had spread to a thought, then an ideal, and eventually, an ultimatum...

Incredible was the only word that sprung to the young man’s mind as he observed the youngling. She had managed to succeed where he had miserably failed and done so with extremely basic instruction rather than one of depth. He was impressed. In her use of telekinetic powers, Ro had observed a change in the girl. The oddity that he had felt showed itself again, flaring for a brief moment before dissipating into the unknown once more. It was power, pure, undeniable power which she held deep within, a power that she could not yet tap on command. He was awed. He had never felt a power as the one that thrummed through her body in that instance. It wasn’t as if it was so immeasurable that it was near unfathomable to think of but rather the energy that it exerted was so incredulously pure that he could do nothing but be awed by it. His power, he admitted to himself, was not born of the same emotions. He wondered how far he could go if he could learn her ways, to learn how to use the force in its purity and in a way that did not make it subservient to him. The teacher somewhere in this tale had become the student.

Then something more astounding occurred. Ro smiled. It was faint and brief but for an instant the emotional turmoil that swirled like the rolling tide of the ocean ceased. For one instant, perhaps, he was tranquil and at peace. The young girls childlike wisdom and passion for her accomplishment broke even Ro’s stolid emotional buffers. However, he once more reverted to himself. His emotions once more digressed into the inner fury that always twisted in his soul. But if one were to look closer they would see that the small sliver of his purity that remained was a little brighter, a little more powerful, a little bit more in control. He listened intently to the girl as she gave her own views on the force. He listened so that perhaps he may attain such power, so that he may master the force in such a way rather than his own. Perhaps she was right; perhaps already exerting your will upon something that is already controlled was wrong and only taxed him more. Perhaps he needed to listen to his own words and reform his own usages of the force in a way that didn't require domination. “Perhaps I have learned more from her than her from I.” he thought to himself for a minute.

“I don’t know what I think anymore.” He openly admitted to her question of his thoughts. He had never believed that using the force in the way that he had instructed her in was truly possible. He didn’t believe that one could use the force in a way that simply asked it for aid rather than forcing it for help. His earlier preconceptions of the force had been shattered and in their place confusion took hold. He no longer knew what he thought the force was or what he thought was the correct way to use it. He was lost. “You show promise in this field.” He said with a look of deep thought. He thought of the anomaly that he felt within her and questioned what it could do should she ever gain total control over it. It would be years before she could achieve such control but he wondered, with that power, if she could truly become an incredible force user. “And you show the promise to go further in time.” He finished.

His hand stood out straight in front of him, in line with the rock. He attempted to try what he believed she did; to simply ask it to rise and come to him. Nothing occurred. Strain marked his face as he focused his power but nothing occurred. “How?” he questioned under his breath in an accusation of her success and of his own failure. He lowered his arm and looked at her with a form of respect. “You’ve done well.”

She walked behind him as he tried to lift the rock, she observed it, and then him, she could tell he was getting angry. Which was probably what was wrong, he seemed to be still trying to lift the rock with his own volition. Haha, your still trying, close your eyes... I mean it! Close your eyes, I felt that the force piercing you, is the same as the force pierceing that rock, I kinda think... We're the same, the force already controls us. Our actions, our lives, you were right, but I couldn't do it in my other trainings because I tried to be in control. The force I think has many faces, some happy, some sad, and some even angry. she paused for a little while.

so lifting the rock doesn't really change anything. Just like moving a planet wouldn't. And knowing that. And truly believing that I guess, makes it easy. So, thank you mr ro... Thank you for teaching me that... she bowed lowly, in her logic, he was stronger than her because he could still do things with fractured focus. The domination was there, but she believed the fact he thought he was doing it was wrong. He was manipulating the forces domination of the object... At least, that was the ideals of the textbooks she had her head deep in every other moment.

They say that a child can learn at a far quicker pace than an adult but more than that, it’s also said that a child will ultimately teach a parent more about themselves than what they will ever teach the child. In this instant Ro believed that to be true. The child had an innate grasp of the force that he was not attuned to and that he struggled to even move a pebble with. However this does not mean he was weak in the art of telekinesis, on the contrary he was considered extremely strong in that field of the force but right now he seemed feebler than an average youngling. It irked him. How could he, someone who claimed that if needed he could traverse through the dark side of the force and come out unscathed be dominated by a mere pebble? A scowl crossed his face but the ring of her childlike words quelled the growing anger that built within his failure to utilize the force in the same manner.

“For now I am unable to use it like you.” He said, knowing that any instruction she would give him now would only end in vain. He was not yet ready to experience such a drastic shift in the usage of the force but at least now there was more hope for the young Zabrak to reform. Ro faced the young girl and his face was apathetic as always but those eyes held no apathy, nor jealousy, nor contempt but rather respect. Somewhere in this small training session the man had learned more about himself and his ideals than ever before. “Perhaps the council is right.” He thought to himself, thinking of their constant attempts to reform him but also about the undeniable quick power that he could gain if he traversed the way he was heading and maybe control his anger to the point that he wouldn’t fall to the dark side. He didn't know what path this girl had indirectly forced him to traverse but he knew that if he reformed that she would be his catalyst and that if he fell she would have been his greatest hope for reformation.

The golden eyes softened as he spoke his next words to her. “You did well. Train often or you will forget how to use your gifts. You have an inner power that even you are not capable of using but in enough time… the force, I feel, will become your greatest asset and ability. You have the chance to become great but only through the force.” He said the last sentence tentatively. He didn’t wish to hurt the girls pride in herself but neither did he believe the small child would ever grow into a physically powerful presence but rather would become a great adept in the utilization of the force. “This is where we part now, Orphen. We will meet again soon. I can feel it.” He finished as he turned and removed himself from the room. He wondered though, if he truly was tainted and lured by the dark side as many Jedi had said he was, if he would one day be seeing her on a field of battle rather than in a training room. He removed the thought from his mind and continued on.
