Deen's mind followed the same path as Knight Petra's: he had never heard of slaves within the Jedi, former or otherwise. Even when the galaxy was plunged into the darkness and chaos of Sith rule, Jedi required a strong mental state and stern, analytic frame of mind. Perhaps the war was considerably worse than Deen had imagined, if the Jedi had resorted to such extreme measures.
