All things considered, Malthazar threw a hell of a party, and from what The Doctor could see and hear, he had attracted quite the number of Exiles too. Currently Zaan was in there mulling over a few drinks, giving The Doctor time to catch up with a rather interesting patron. She had heard the lass talking with one or two people, and she had confessed quite a few things, not to mention imparted her own worries of the state of this war and it's direction. Throughout that though, she seemed more...confused by everything, rather than convicted, as if she just wandered and spoke her mind without really knowing anything other than she had seen.

She had heard one or two things about Vin, not much though: Former Jedi (very recent exile), competent fighter, bit of a nomad, uncertain about her role in the galaxy, and, perhaps most interesting, friend/acquaintance of current Exile "Scream Queen", Alais Drast. Now, The Doctor didn't just want to talk to her because of her connection to Alais, though it was a thread she had hoped to pursue. If anything, this little after party banter was just more of a get to know you talk than anything else, her way of saying "Hi, nice to meet you"

The Doctor stood just outside Malthazar's home, her back resting against the little alcove containing the doors, waiting patiently. Vin didn't seem like much of a drinker or a socialite, she just looked awkward a lot of the time. Either way, she wanted to girl talk alone time, and outside seemed better than inside is all.

Ball, Vin had realized, were not her thing. All things considered, it had all been rather pointless. She had come looking for what some called old school exiles, those born into the life rather than being exiled from the Jedi Order. She was looking for answers, and they had seemed like another source of information, someone who hadn't experienced the teachings of the Jedi Order, someone who could claim to be free of whatever mistakes the Jedi might be making with all their fallen brethren. Unfortunately luck was not on her side, as seemed to be the case nowadays.

Feeling a little suffocated with all the twirling around and niceties taking place at the ball, she decided to slip out for a breath of fresh air, or maybe to slip out of the party altogether. She hadn't yet made up her mind if it was worth staying anymore, but maybe some fresh air would help make up her mind for her. She knew she was immature about a great many things, and wanting to run away from the party might just be another instance of the same. Maybe a little break would help prepare her to somehow make it through the rest of the ball.

Slipping out of the back door, she was about to stretch and slip out of her shoes, wretched little things were killing her, when she noticed that she was not alone. A dark haired woman seemed to be lounging against the wall. Vin was almost tempted to ask her what she was doing there, it didn't seem normal to just be standing all alone while a mere wall separated her from the festivities within, but then she herself was doing the same and the irony of such a question wasn't lost on her.

So she just made do with a simple greeting, one thing she had realized after wandering around the galaxy was to always be polite. You never know how much trouble you could avoid with a simple smile or hello. And with exiles there was definitely a great deal of trouble to be have. Safety first, as the brith control ad that constantly popped up when she tried illegally streaming Real Edgelords of War Shaddaa used to say.

Hello. I see I wasn't the only one looking for some fresh air.

Despite the muffled mingling and orchestral numbers that bled through the wall, The Doctor heard the heavy footed shuffling of high heels pretty clearly as they made their way toward her. She too had removed her own heels and stood on the Durasteel floor barefoot, though considering she had come her in a dress like that, it was safe to say she wasn't bothered by the cold or the wind. Looking up, her eyes fell upon Vin, looking as haggard and anxious as a Jawa in a rollercoaster, which prompted a little smirk from the young brunette. "Needed to get out of the crowd and out of the torture heels?" She asked, a little cheeky sounding for her liking but it fit for the party setting.

She strolled over and offered a hand, smirk flourishing into a simple wide smile. "I'm The Doctor, nice to meet you, you're...Vin? Yeah, it's Vin right? Sorry, I'm a little eh with names at the moment, waaay too much brandy." Vin seemed amicable enough close up, looking her up and down, and in spite of the rumors and hearsay she dug up on her, she seemed pretty nice and down to earth at first glance all that nasty stuff she had heard didn't seem to trace back to this woman...then again, half the stuff The Doctor did didn't trace back to her.

Doctor?...Doctor Who? In typical Vin fashion she had missed the implication that the name was a title the woman liked to go by, and so had responded with genuine confusion, until it finally dawned on her. The Doctor? The name made her imagine one of the villains from the holo-comics she used to love so much as a child. Doctor, more like doctor strange.

Yes... The word was drawn out, her voice a little wary. Her growing infamy was lost on her, and she was more than a little surprised by people actually knowing who she was. She still saw herself as the nobody she had been not so long ago. I'm Vin. Nice to meet you.

Her eyes narrowed a little in suspicion as she studied the woman's face, trying to think if she recognized her from anywhere. We haven't met, have we? How do you know who I am?

Vin responded to The Doctor's greeting the same way most people did, something she was used to by now, though she couldn't deny that she took a certain degree of satisfaction that Vin seemed even more confused than most, looking like she was about to go into hard reboot mode. She smirked as the realization finally dawned on her, and the girl just gave her this look of disbelief, a slight line of nostalgia running through it as well. "Lemme guess, you're wondering which comic I leapt from?" She asked, making your generic evil villain pose, with the humped back and the hands together in classic finger tapping action, making panting and heaving noises as if she were a zombie who couldn't be bothered to get up and go when he came back from the dead.

Again, that confused look plastered itself onto her face at the mention of her name, something most people would know if they had just listened to what was going on around them. She wasn't trying to spook the girl, but it seemed like that she was doing a good job of that despite her best intentions, noting the broadly suspicious or, at least, anxious look that leapt off her and into The Doctor's self preservation instincts to rattle them a little, like all situations in the south. "Well, I have ears for one thing, your name circulated more than once among all the drunken debauchery and cocktail dresses," She explained smoothly, walking over to the young exile's wall and leaning beside her. "And no, we haven't met unless you count the contents of the last 30 seconds, but most people I know don't"

Now began the infiltration. Vin was an oddity to her, she was naive and somewhat curious about the exiles in particular, but she didn't sense any of the anger or malice that practically lashed off the others in sweaty little rivers running down their head. She struck her as a Jedi way in over their head, or simply just a traveler that wanted to know more about the forces she commanded, though she was more inclined to go for the former given the general "fish-out-of-water" look she sported. "What brought you here, to the glorious Canto Bight?" She asked softly, being careful not to accidentally anger the girl for fear of what she might do.
