Liana

Nobody liked the Hutts, but they had made it a haven for people like him. As long as he didn't make too big of a splash, local law enforcement was way more concerned with the big stuff and had hardly paid any attention to him.

Even still, he had fallen on a bit of a rough patch. His ship had a busted engine and a scam gone wrong had left him in debt with some heavy hitters. He needed a way to make some credits quickly before he was relieved of both his knees.

So he had found a high-stakes card game to get in, but there was a catch. The guy putting it together was a bit of wacko and required everyone to bring some sort of exotic pet to gamble with. There was nothing else, he had to get into this game. He didn't know where he could get such an animal on short notice. The game was only three nights away. He thought he could maybe steal something, but that might draw the wrong type of attention so he turned to the holonet.

After some searching, he found a site that sold Rain Dancers from nearby Felucia. They were not cheap, it was going to cost him every single credit he had, but they had a deal that he could get free two shipping so he jumped on it. "Annndd....buy!" he said, leaning back in the chair with his arms folded behind his head.

How could this go wrong?

Pine Martins are extremely hostile creatures.

24h Later; awaiting landing clearance above Liana

Perhaps letting them out of their crate had been a mistake.

But they had been so sad and scared!! Not to mention, after the initial hissing, biting and scratching they were really quite friendly. They were above the planet Liana awaiting wildlife import clearance while Daniel pondered these thoughts and others as he sat in the pilot's chair of his tiny courier vessel. Five fluffy little mammals shared the space with him. One was curled up on his head, another was snoozing contentedly in his lap and still another was on top of the console, tiny little paws pressed up against the transparasteel window staring out into space.

Daniel's boss had called them horrible vermin when he had come to pick up the cargo and contract. Daniel thought the man was just being hateful. All animals deserved a chance and besides, they hadn't done anything too damaging to the ship. Sure, doors to cupboards and holds had been opened and anything remotely sparkly removed, inspected and played with. Upholstery was in tatters and droppings were indeed a problem but that wasn't their fault. The little creatures just wanted to climb and play!

"Control to .X-AU Courier 1185," the radio hissed to life. "Documentation is in order, proceed to Planetary Dock Site 3, Birth BB, Bay 62. Area is prepped for wildlife handoff. Coordinates have been sent via tight-beam."

Daniel straightened up, spilling creatures left and right and thumbed the drive into life. "Copy that, Control, received and on route!" With a few deft keystrokes Daniel transferred the coordinates to the navicomputer and let the droid take control. He turned to face his charges that had gathered by the base of the pilot's chair staring at him, noses twitching and eyes alert. The young man knew that they weren't going to like what was going to come next but it had to be done. "Alright everybody," he said with a heavy sigh. "I know you don't like it, but you have to go back into the crate."

Jackie's phone buzzed until it fell off the perch on his unconscious face. The movement jolted him awake. "W..wha...ughhh" he groaned as he reached around in a daze for his phone.

"Good News! Your order has arrived on Liana and is ready for pickup at Wildlife Handoff Hanger 62. Please arrive with identification so your delivery can be completed. Have a great day!" the message read.

"What?! It isn't getting delivered to my door? What kind of service is this?!" he said, pushing himself up off the couch. He needed that stupid rain dancer to get in tonight so he was left with little choice.

He made his way outside, the sun blinding him. He was a nocturnal creature, and the bright light about did him in as it sent daggers through his brain. Luckily, it wasn't far from the spaceport. After some looking around, and asking a droid with an attitude problem he found himself at the right location.

"You the delivery guy?" he asked, hands shoved in his pockets. "You got my rain dancer, I hope!" he asked, walking up to the courier.

The creatures had not taken well to being reinstalled into their crate. Daniel had several scratches on his face and his nose had a distinct bite mark on the bridge. However, he had prevailed, they were all neatly packed back up and waiting patiently when a Chiss yelled and came marching up to the young man.

"Are you..." Dan hastily consulted his datapad for the name. "Jack Olsk?" A curt nod confirmed the question. "They're right here!" Daniel continued cheerfully, gesturing to the crate next to him. "Please tap your identichip against the datapad." Daniel held out his company pad for the man to complete the transaction and, having completed the company script, returned his attention to his friends in the crate.

The creatures inside had been calm before Jack had appeared but they started hissing, almost on cue, when Daniel gestured to the crate. A couple fuzzy noses and sharp teeth could be seen through holes in the side and the guttural hissing increased in volume. Dan's brow furrowed and he said, "I don't think they like water much, though."

Jackie was generally a pretty easy guy to get along with, but now and then an...incident would happen and people would get mad at him. Like one such thug and the few guys, he had brought along that were not walking in the spaceport, scanning before they spotted the Chiss and making their way over.

"Yeah, that's me." Jackie responded as the crate shook slightly. He raised an eyebrow as a fury snout poked out. His raised eyebrow turned into a look of confusion. Rain Dancers didn't have fur.

There were several hissing animals in the crate, Jackie had thought he had only ordered one. "What do you mean they? I only order...and they are called rain dancers...how do they not like water?" he said, kneeling spotting the small bundles of angry fur. He placed a hand near the cage's latch. How drunk had he been yesterday...

"What the..." he was cut off by a deep voice behind him.

"Hey, yo Jackie! You think you could skip town without paying me what you owe? Didn't I tell you that you would be wearing both kneecaps as necklaces if you stabbed me in the back." the man said, clearly aggressive.

"Shit..." Jackie said as he went to stand, as he did, he bumped the a latch of the cage just as one of the little guys slammed into the bars causing the doors to fly open and the creatures to scatter angrily in search of prey. Jackie stumbled backward as one lunged for his face but was grabbed, it struggling to kill him.

"What are these things?!" he cried out to the delivery guy as chaos broke out.
