Plot Outline: Uncanny Syncytium

1. What is going to happen in your plot? The plot is designed around a hostile takeover from Ari Pinkerton’s small company in claiming the assets and designs of another small competing company by the name of Springheel Designs, run by the young Tavisa Springheel, who’s utilizing her families wealth to spearhead her industry. Pinkerton would hire two to three mercenaries to aid her in defaming and then framing the Springheel company, before finally offing Tavisa herself.

2. What other players will be a part of this? To be decided.

3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place? Across a section of Correlia listed as the “Downpour District.” The Downpour District being a region of Correlia known for industrial production on waterfront districts, as well as its extremely common rainfall.

4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen. A first thread takes place in Pinkertons business, where she guides the mercs she hired into a room where she has set up a plan. This thread introduces all the characters to one another as well as gives them their general goals and plans, though each following thread begins with a similar review of what they need to do.

A second thread takes place a simple two days later, where the mercenaries break into the Springheel estate. While security is low, it is up to them to remain undetected, or to otherwise make sure no one can call authorities. While the estate is not the business of Tavisa Springheel, she spends a great deal of time there as her father guides her expenses. The plot would involve Pinkerton distracting Tavisa away from her home, by offering a dinner to discuss business proposals and similar things. The mercenaries goal would be to find incriminating evidence of Tavisa’s behaviours, or to forge it, based on Pinkertons prior plans, as well as bugging one or more of her devices.

A third thread takes place three days later in the waterfront section of the Downpour District, particularly a smelting plant owned and operated by the Springheel family. Pinkerton would produce a device specifically made to harm the smelters of the plant, every aspect of it created with the design of the smelters in mind. The devices, though small, can create small ruptures that, when timed correctly in the smelting process, can cause small explosions that would harm workers, while also destroying evidence of the devices.

A fourth thread occurs five days later, where reports of Tavisa’s alleged incidents begin to pile up against her, claims and accusations being flung from angry workers and the general media, or differing based on what occurred during the threads prior. Regardless, the fourth thread is the pinnacle, as an anonymous source, being one of the mercs, have tipped Tavisa off to the potential of Pinkerton’s involvement. Fed up with the actions in recent days, Tavisa storms off to confront Pinkerton, who remains in her painting room, one of the only rooms in Pinkerton’s house that has no cameras. Once inside, Pinkerton and her mercs apprehend Tavisa, before Pinkerton shoots her, claiming it to be in self defense as they stage the scene accordingly. Furthermore, the bugged device that Tavisa carried would be wiped of the bug, but not before it saved several threats supposedly sent from Tavisa to Pinkerton, all sent from the bugged device.

The final thread, though it may be included in the last, is the payment from Pinkerton as she explains how she’s begun to purchase the assets of the Springheel company, poaching its employees with promises of safe work environments. Her assets grow, as does her connection with the mercs she hired, and vice versa.

5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"? Put an end to a nearby competitor, as well as take over her assets to further her own.

6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose. No.

Hey @Jabonicus! Just a couple really quick things but overall this looks great!
  • Participants: This wont hold up approval, but plots have to have at please two members involved
  • Assets: Can you make it a little clearer exactly what would be acquired?
  • DMing: There is certainly room for a member or plot mod to DM some opposition at some point, which I think might be cool.

@Valen Pelora Thanks for reviewing it!

  • Participants: I know I'll need people and I plan to do so, I just want to have this approved if possible before I recruit and write down names. It's a personal preference but I can do this preemptively if needed. I just want to be able to give people RP very soon after they sign up, essentially.

  • Assets: Pinkertons assets at the moment are poorly defined as I honestly haven't given either much thought beyond 'small business.' Of course at the moment Pinkerton produces weapons and armor, but most if not all is simply work done by a secondary company. What she gains with this is an employee base (small, once again), and she'll essentially buy out the section of the smelting plant, which allows her to start controlling more of the process of her creations. While none of this is directly credits, it does add up to give her more regularly. Finally she'd either simply take or purchase any designs or patents the Springheel family owns, minor and vague, it's small things that just kind of spread what she would produce IC.

  • DMing: I'm hesitant on the DMing section and put 'no' on the initial sheet because I simply don't know what someone else will do with it. If I were to accept a DM I'd want it to be very clear on all sides that the main conflict in this story isn't about fights and shootings as much as it is subterfuge and infiltration.

Let me know if I should put some of that information in the sheet up above.

My only concern is the assets are still very undefined. With how things work this timeline, definition for player controlled assets is key. I really don't have a better idea what you're going after. It all seems very vague. As far as the DM goes, I'm sure you could find a member with that understanding but I won't force a DM on you.

I apologize that it's vague. With Pinkerton I don't even have anything written on what she already owns, and I'm not sure what's an appropriate amount for her to have already, nor what a plot like this could give. I wasn't aware that things had to be so definitive, and that's my fault. Could I have a little help in figuring out what is a good amount for both things? Currently I'm honestly unsure.
