The twin suns of Tatooine gave no respite, even to a broken soul.

Echigo had been walking aimlessly for the past hour, dehydrated and weak of heart. He started walking at the sun's dawn and left the smoking ruin of his life behind him. Now, his farm was behind the dunes and far away. The young man, hunched over and walking slow, hummed to himself, remembering an old lullaby his father would sing. He used the crunching of the sand, beneath his feet, for the beat. Yet each step became harder and the beat slowed down.

Shoulders slacking, and head pointed upwards, Echigo squinted his eyes at the great blue sky as sweat ran down his brow and into his hood. His lips were cracked and dry while sand sprinkled his cheeks and forehead. The young man lacked strength to wipe the foul substance off his face, much less walk. He dropped gaze to look forward, where he could see naught but the dunes and certain death.

Breathing weakly, Echigo continued walking but his humming stopped. Too parched to continue. The young man now scaled a tall dune, his feet dragging and carrying sand on his toes. The incline, though not very steep, brought him to his knees and reduced him to little less than a bantha. Disoriented, he continued crawling, even with the peak of the dune reached. Much steeper on this side, Echigo felt his arms give out and his body lurch forward. Down the dune he fell, rolling at an even more disorientating speed. By the time the rolling stopped, the robed fellow was barely conscious.

This was it.

Underneath the twin suns, body lain awkwardly, Echigo closed his eyes and allowed the light winds of the desert to blow sand onto him. He would accept an unmarked grave, just like his now deceased family. With what little strength remained, Echigo bent his fingers and clutched the sand. But new sounds echoed in his ears; foreign sounds, not created by the Dune Sea. Perhaps it was a krayt dragon, come to feast on his corpse? No, the steps were far too slow and light. Or Tusken Raiders, seeking to pillage his corpse? No, it was one. An illusion, created by his mind then. It had to be...
