UNDERWORLD ARMOR

Underworld Armor; named for its commonplace nature in the lower levels of Coruscant and other such planets; the armor is designed to lightly protect the wearer from other unsavory individuals such as muggers, while helping to filter out the contaminants and particulates present in the air of such environments. Typically cobbled together by underworld residents, the armor itself is modular, and designed only by its creator from salvaged parts, stolen pieces and home-made elements. The armor itself is typically dark and intimidating, in line with where it is present, and often would cause its wearer to look out of place in somewhere more high class, or generally less seedy.

LEGALITY

Legal just about everywhere, depending on the system. Certain functions of the armor may cause it to be regulated, as may the presence of identity obscuring hoods.

INTENT

To create a seedier armor with a focus on environmental survival and protection against roguish assailants, rather than full on combat. Think of it as a counter to the typical sneak thief or backwater assassin.

ADVANCED TECH
No. More often than not, this armor is built by the wearer.

Functions

Function 1: Rebreather
  • Rebreathers allow for a person to survive underwater or in space for brief amounts of time by scrubbing CO2 from their exhaled breath. Generally this lasts for 3-4 posts, but heavy exertion can shorten that time.
Function 2: Environment Suit
  • While it is not rated for extended exposure to extreme hazards, this body suit (when combined with an enclosed helmet) can protect the wearers body from the effects of environmental and weaponized toxins and similar hazards for up to 5 posting rounds.
Function 3: Filter
  • Filters are bulky attachments to a helmet, or function as part of a mask, that filter out environmental contaminants such as smoke or most toxins. They are susceptible to caustic substances and damage.
Function 4: Concealed Blade
  • Concealed blades are typically 4-6 inches in length and lock into place once extended. They are almost always placed along the fore-arm or boot. They are no substitute for true combat knives as the locking mechanism can break under strong impacts. Still, some people enjoy them as a helpful backup.
