Undiscovered Planets

I've seen the atlas but I'm wondering what has/hasn't been discovered. I've got an exploration minded character but I don't know where to look for planets that haven't been found or explored. Is there a list of explored/unexplored planets somewhere? Or is it more of a thematic thing?
