The news fades in after the station's logo, to reveal the twin anchors of the show waiting with stern faces, datapads in hand as though they were only just learning of the news they were about to present.

"Some of our viewers may recall a distress signal was sent by a Banvhar Combine survey and mining operation just a few short weeks ago - after an internal investigation, Banvhar Combine has released the following press conference."

--
The feed swapped to a press conference held earlier the same day, a Mirialan woman standing before an array of microphones as dozens of different reporters demanded answers of her as loudly as they possibly could. She seemed overwhelmed to begin with, as though this was not something she could have predicted for herself, but she took a deep breath and began to speak.

"I am the last survivor of a mining and surveying expedition to the edges of known space - there was an unfortunate mining accident that resulted in the deaths of my two colleagues and four of my rescuers."
she bowed her head slightly, "I hope they find peace in whatever ways they can. Hopefully, knowing that they have helped saved someone will put their souls at rest."

There was a flurry of activity as the assembled reporters tried desperately to speak over each other until one was seemingly able to muscle their way to the front well enough to be heard over all the others.

"What about the rumoured Killik present in the mine?"

The Mirialan, Chirzo, flinched ever so slightly before straightening her back.

"This was an unfortunate mining accident and people died. I think that is a terrible enough thing to report without you adding in an element you cannot substantiate, but which likely gets more clicks as you exploit the public's fears. If this is what passes for journalism I can see you being removed from the list of accepted institutions by Banvhar Combine."

As the first reporter was moved to one side, another took their place.

"Who did the rescuing in this case?"

Chirzo allowed herself a small smile.

"A combination of independant contractors and Sith. Truly, I am very glad that they were able to work together to rescue myself."

On the back of this, another reporter spoke up.

"What kind of payment can they expect?"

Chirzo nodded.

"They will be receiving a scouting or surveying ship from the stocks of Banvhar Combine, each, for their own personal use. Thank you, that will be all."

Regardless of which ship is chosen, the survivors of "Mines of Perdition" will be asked to keep the Killik presence non-public and each ship's cargo hold will have containers of platinum and other rare metals to further act as a bribe - this is equivalent of several thousand credits, enough to buy the ship they claimed twice over.
