DESCRIPTION​

The V-Wing Airspeeder (not to be confused with the Clone Wars era V-Wing Starfighter) is a military-grade airspeeder, manufactured by the same group as the B-Wing Starfighter. The V-Wing Starfighter was designed at tail end of the Galactic Civil War era and saw production after the establishment of the New Republic. V-Wings would see a lot of use in service of various planetary defense forces, namely being used as a cheaper alternative to using starfighters for defense planetside. That is not to say that V-Wings did not have showings against remnants of the Empire before the war ended.

Thi airspeeder's best qualities are it's speed. At a staggering 1000 km/h the V-Wing moves fast across the terrain. Although a repulsorcraft, the V-Wing also has a very high flight ceiling, letting it climb higher in the air that most others airspeeders. In addition to this, with the addition of the Scramjet Booster, the V-Wing gains an extra 400 km/h in speed for a limited time (up to 2 posting rounds) but it can't use weapons during this time and afterwards it needs to recharge (3 posting rounds after expiration/deactivation). Attempting to use the Scramjet before it finishes with it's recharge peroid will cause the aircraft to drastically overheat and disable the whole ship.

The craft's weapons line-up is potent for an atmospheric vehicle, with it's two light blaster cannons and a missile launcher. Against starfighters, the V-Wing can hold it's own against them.

Of course although the speed is impressive, it's defenses are not. Having only light armor plating and no shields, V-Wing pilot needs to use it's speed to evade enemy attacks or use the Scramjet Booster to make a hasty retreat.

In the present day, these aircraft can still find use in planetary defense forces for defense planeside. Limited numbers of these may find their way into the hands of prospective owners or less-than-legal groups.
