"I think of my home every day. The people, the architecture, my family... I do not know what happened to them when the Sith came. I do not know it they are alive.

What I do know is that my people believe me dead. And if I am dead, then I am a ghost. A vengeful, calculating spectre, a killing machine.

I will free my home from the clutches of the Sith Empire, or I truly will die trying."

PERSONALITY
[fancybox4="https://i.imgur.com/RVA3Obv.jpg"]Initially a flippant playboy among his own kind, five years of survival on a harsh world has transformed this young Tiss'shar: Whereas before he was pampered, rude, and arrogant regarding his family's status, Vaas has become humbler, soft-spoken, and generally incredibly polite and well-behaved. He does not like being violent upfront, and like most Tiss'shar prefers to use his intelligence and cunning to solve problems and get out of trouble instead of his body's natural, and deadly, attributes. For a time after being stranded on Gamorr and regressing to a more primal state in order to survive, Vaas felt ashamed of himself, feeling as if he were a failure of a Tiss'shar for succumbing to his base instincts. Eventually, however, after much introspection on the subject, Vaas managed to reach an equilibrium and now no longer fears what he can do to others, learning how to control himself and detach himself from any kills he makes, though he still doesn't like doing it.

Aside from this, Vaas isn't generally a fan of criminals; or at least ones that don't have standards of behavior. He also finds slavers distasteful, has developed a hatred of Gamorreans, and was never particularly fond of the Sith either, but isn't so foolish as to wish to engage them-- or anyone else, ideally-- directly.

In the last five years, as Vaas' thoughts drifted more and more toward his home planet, his dislike and mistrust of the Sith has grown, igniting a fire of ambition in his heart: The ambition to see his people independent of the Sith and everyone else.

BIOGRAPHY
[fancybox4="https://i.imgur.com/WHEVtfn.jpg"]Vaas-Nal-Tor was born on Tiss'sharl as the son of Der-Tel-Van, a major business mogul whose trade was primarily regarding holonet programming in the Outer Rim. Vaas, as a result, grew up in luxury and, due to a relative lack of the business savvy that had characterized his family line, he was usually much more comfortable as an partygoing playboy. This earned him a mixed reputation among others of his kind and even his own family, though he was allowed to live off his family's money regardless.

At fifteen years old, Vaas took a trip that he believed was meant to take him to the Empress Teta system, but what he did not realize that this was a ruse; Als-Mok-Tyr, a rival of Vaas' father, had sought to eliminate Vaas both to eliminate him as a claimant to Der-Tel-Van's business as well as to conduct psychological warfare. The reality of the trip set in once Vaas was aboard and was quickly subdued by thugs Als-Mok-Tor had hired. When Vaas awoke, he found himself in an unfamiliar place: A jungle. And what was more, he lacked supplies to survive.

Panicking, Vaas attempted to find shelter while calling out as loudly as possible into the jungle, hoping for someone to hear him. And he got his wish, as he was found by a group of Gamorreans and was immediately attacked. He fled further into the jungle before they could seriously harm him, and it was here that he truly realized where he was.

And then he panicked even more.

Eventually however, Vaas found a cave for shelter, and as night fell, for the first time Vaas slept in horrid conditions. He wouldn't recommend them, but, he made do. A few days later, after refusing to try to catch something to eat in defiance of his predatory instincts, Vaas finally cracked and began his first, half-starved hunt. Desperation has a strange way with making someone successful at something they have never done before, and this held true for Vaas, as he made his first successful kill in the midst of instinctual override and starvation, with a flurry of ripping claws and gnashing teeth. Though he happened to throw his food up soon after once he came back to his senses.

Unfortunately for Vaas, the need to hunt became more and more routine as the days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, with no hope of rescue or escape. And at the same time that he was honing his hunting skills, he steadily descended into a state of near-barbarism, lacking anyone to talk to and keep him fully sane; and by the time he discovered a group of Gamorreans poking around his cave, he was little more than a ball of scales, teeth, claws, and refined hunting instinct. Then the Gamorreans became piles of bloody, gory bones. Then Vaas ate well for a whole week.

Over time, the Gamorreans learned of this odd orange-and-black blur that could effortlessly rip into their kind by striking from the foliage and disappearing, then retreating and striking again. They did not, however, learn to stay away, and Vaas became incredibly good at killing the "stupid kriffing pigs", in his words. Eventually, however, he fell into bad luck, falling into a trap laid by some of the more intelligent Gamorreans and, for the second time in his life, being knocked unconscious and dragged somewhere new and unfamiliar.

This new place happened to be the village of a Gamorrean clan chieftain named Bunto. Bunto, being smarter than the average Gamorrean, saw how much of a threat Vaas was, and with the aid of Cienna Laytham, a human female whom was likewise trapped on the planet and acting as Bunto's servant and translator, he declared that he was going to have Vaas killed on the spot, because all of the hunters in Gamorrean culture are female, and Vaas had literally lived off the deaths of his clan's sows.

Something about this interaction, and actively being spoken to again (and probably the threat of death), caused Vaas to snap back to sanity after so long of being in a haze of paranoia and hunting instinct. He immediately began trying to haggle for his life, working to convince Bunto to spare him by explaining how much of a valuable asset he was. How he could outsmart other clans and increase Bunto's power and territory if allowed to live. Cienna translated this, and, after some thought and more haggling, Bunto released Vaas and ordered him under watch.

Over time, Vaas figured out how to maneuver through the societal structure of the Gamorreans and how to understand their language while keeping true to his word and assisting Bunto in his constant wars. His budding friendship with Cienna allowed him to open up and reflect on all he had done since arriving on Gamorr, eventually make peace with his necessary, animalistic actions, and he learned from Cienna that the Gamorreans of Bunto's clan occasionally kidnapped people outside the planet-- either to sell, to use, or simply for sport. Other times, people were brought in by outsiders, like with what had happened to Vaas himself. With this in mind, Vaas began planning to escape, knowing that eventually, he would have his chance to get off this forsaken poodoo-hole.

Eventually.

This plan of Vaas' remained dormant for months, until he received word of a group of humans whom had arrived on the planet, apparently looking for him-- a Gamorrean, Vaas would find out later, had made an offhand mention to the wrong people of the "great big striped death-lizard" that Bunto had caught and was now enslaving, and though Vaas himself didn't know it, this had been reported to Als-Mok-Tyr, whom realized Vaas was still alive and wanted to make sure he got rid of him.

To this end, while Vaas was out fighting alongside some of Bunto's clan, Als-Mok-Tyr's men stormed Bunto's village and killed those in it while searching for Vaas himself. Upon finding Cienna and realizing that she was able to communicate with the Gamorreans and was friends with Vaas, Als-Mok-Tyr's men took her hostage, intending to use her to force Vaas to come to them, thinking to lure him into a trap.

Upon returning to Bunto's village, the survivors of his warband were infuriated by this ransacking, and Bunto demanded that Vaas lead them to whoever had done this. Luckily for Bunto, Vaas' experiences in hunting came in handy as he tracked the group through forest and plains, eventually finding stragglers among Als-Mok-Tyr's mercs and stealthily taking them out. Further on, after locating the mercs, along with Cienna, in a clearing and with a number of ships, Vaas made a plan.

Stepping out to face the group alone, playing the part of a meek, humbled sentient broken by their time in a hellish death-world, Vaas distracted the mercs while Bunto's boars set up a flanking maneuver. As they talked, Vaas became aware at last of just how he had been set up, and just how much time had passed: Five whole years. And in the meantime, the Tiss'shar had given up on finding him, believing him dead.

At this, Bunto bellowed a warcry and he and his boars charged, taking the group by surprise. With this distraction, Vaas sprang into action, killing the merc leader with a neck-crushing bite and weaving his way through the carnage as the Gamorreans and mercs killed each other, rescuing Cienna. Uncaring for the Gamorreans, Vaas led Cienna onto the closest ship and then proceeded to do what he seemed to do best in these situations: Kill people.

Weaving in and out of the fray, hiding and striking from the jungle, Vaas took out his anger, so long hiding under his emotions now, on any of the survivors he could reach. Before he knew it, everyone except himself and Cienna were dead. And after calming himself and gathering some gear, he boarded the ship Cienna had been hiding on. Five years of not being near a ship hadn't dulled a natural affinity toward spacecraft, and he and Cienna quickly, at long last, left Gamorr.

They had no money, little food, little weaponry. But they had each other, and they both decided that that was enough as the freighter they had stolen went to hyperspace and into the unknown.

The duo moved through the Outer Rim for five years, with Vaas eventually heading into mercenary and bounty hunting work and, after an initial rough start, developing a reputation for efficiency to match many others of his kind, as the Tiss'shar had always been considered quite adept at such work. During this time, Vaas' objective changed from simply getting by to actively acquiring enough funds to take the fight to the Sith Empire in an attempt to free his homeworld. Before he got the chance to launch any sort of one-man offensive, however, he was contacted by an underground group called "Guardian", which has taken him on as an operative in their own fight against the Empire.

And all the while, a mysterious force in Vaas' mind began nudging him closer and closer to beings he never expected to meet: The Jedi Order...

SKILLS AND APPEARANCE
[fancybox4="http://i.imgur.com/xcarJh1.gif"]Vaas is incredibly intelligent and quick-witted, and is able to grasp most concepts very quickly; a notable exception is economic theory, unlike many of his kind; the most he knows of economics is "Deep funds good, no funds bad", and he at least knows how to haggle, but the deeper points of economics elude him. He is, however, very capable in using his wits to work his way into the good graces of people he needs to rely on. Those same wits are used when he fights, either to put himself in an advantageous position, or to make quick escapes.

Vaas' body is as honed as his mind at this point, having spent years surviving and becoming an expert hunter on Gamorr. He's naturally stronger, faster, and more dexterous and agile than non-Force-sensitive humanoids and possessing superior senses of sight, hearing, and smell, and his heavy weight compared to standard humanoids allows him to pin people down and injure or kill them with his sharp claws and teeth, if necessary, provided he can get through their armor (if they have any). Despite this and several years of mercenary work to improve his skills, however, he's really not much of a warrior in the same sense as, say, a Mandalorian, and considers himself more an Action Survivor than anything.

One thing he's always been good at is piloting ships, which he's put to good use in his escape from Gamorr. He's average with weapons in general, which is perhaps why he currently has two easy-to-use, close-quarters weapons as gear. He's also multilingual, able to speak Basic, his native Tiss'shar, and a few other languages of varying fluency. Due to his time on Gamorr, he can understand Gamorrese. He has found that the hisses, shrieks, screeches and barks of his native language are an effective tool to unbalance and frighten people who don't understand what he's saying; what he tends to say when doing this are things Tiss'shar don't say in polite company.

While Vaas does not realize it, he possesses sensitivity to the Force, which seems to be a rarity for his species. While it is not a connection deep enough to warrant full training by a Force-sensitive group such as the Jedi, it is likely that he has unintentionally relied on this connection during his travels, and it could potentially grow stronger if he decides to focus on developing it.

A sleek, almost serptine creature, Vaas stands at 1.95 meters when fully upright, making him taller than an average Tiss'shar. He possesses reddish-orange skin with black stripes going from his snout to his tail. His eyes are a bright yellow, with reptilian slits for pupils. The most notable feature he has, and shares with his species, are the curved toe-claws which can easily gravely wound and even kill an unarmored being.

R8-R "Raider" Battle Rifle (5 normal power packs)

MD-12 shotgun blaster (10 power packs)

And while she's far from "equipment", Cienna Laytham is Vaas' friend and now his assistant, going wherever he goes. She can't fight, but she provides Vaas with companionship and moral support.
