He returned her lightsaber when she started asking about what had happened. "I had to borrow this for a bit," he said. "The creature appeared near you; it was killing you, I think. We fought, and now we are here," he said. There were more details, but all seemed like a haze to him. He knew the creature was gone; he had killed it.
"I don't know where I'll end up." he said truthfully, but he knew he wouldn't be as a platoon leader.
"I wasn't going to leave you behind.." he answered after she had finished speaking. "How about we just call it square between us." he said. "You would have done the same for me." he added. He would have done the same thing for any of his soldiers, but she was different. She was important to him, more important than he cared to say.
Jonathen leaned back in his chair. "You know, I think I need a vacation after all of this." he spoke, changing the subject. "Maybe go home for bit, or...I don't know. Go see the galaxy." he said, gesturing freely with his hands.
"...Something.." he trailed off.
