A chronicling of the journey of the jedi padawan Varian Reman so far...
As with most young initiates, Varian entered the Jedi order with an enthusiasm that the future would be better, that he would be a part of something greater to not only protect but to nuture the sliver of hope that remained in the galaxy. Having been born on Alderaan, he spent his formative years a son to a family of light traders. He thrived in his quaint upbringing through which he explored all sorts of emotions that the Jedi would come to detest of him. Passion, frustration, love... Grief.
His family's business could no longer stand the saturated and inflated markets of the republic and as a result ran into the ground. In their distress and fear of poverty they migrated from Alderaan to Nar Shadda as rumours of higher paid work had reached them. To say that they were unprepared for the rough conditions that awaited them would have been an understatement. Within one week Varian's father was found outside the nearby cantina with multiple stab wounds in little more than his underclothing. Stripped clean. Two weeks after that his mother was brutalised by the tyrant of a landlord and in her desperation and mourning, leaped out the apartment window. As she fell she wondered if she should have taken the young Varian. The pain of the thought did not last long. Varian was far too young to harbour any lasting memories of that time however he could not forget the soft, gentle voice of his mother when she would sing. A song that would haunt his nightmares for countless nights to come.
Luckily not long after that incident was he found by what would come to be his Jedi master. According to him, the overwhelming emotion that his mother had experienced attracted his attention to the young child and in essence it was her love that had saved him. These words would sow the seeds that would eventually lead to the strong foundations of his future beliefs.
His entry into the order was smooth and fruitful. He showed great promise in his abilities and harnessed a deeper affinity to the force than most of his peers. He was warned against forming connections with the other padawans and his tutors however he had a natural charm that often resulted in close relationships. His master as well as a number of higher ranked Jedi disliked his reckless management of his emotions and ordered him into an isolation to discourage it. He felt his soul jailed by the false tenets of the code. He believed that the Jedi could not preserve a peace if they did not fully understand the freedom of emotion, to believe them a path to evil was ignorance in his eyes.
Varian Reman did not resent the order, in fact he felt a responsibility to shift the strict regulations that they placed on sentiment. Varian now strongly believes that the force provides a platform on which all living things may connect and share a greater emotional wealth. A wealth with immeasurable value.

-PASSIONATE: Unlike the Jedi order, Varian does not suppress his emotions and while he is fully capable of controlling them and resisting dark side corruption he is still prone to minor outbreaks of frustration and in extreme cases anger.
-PERSUASIVE: Varian is well versed in persuasive techniques. His undeniable charisma coupled with his deft use of the force allows him to weave his way through tricky situations with little more than a few well-chosen words.
-EMPATHETIC: Varian has a deep sense of empathy and often channels the emotions of those around him to gain a better understanding of any situation he finds himself in. This ability is capable of transferring dark-side fuelled emotions to him however instead of shutting said emotions out is able to channel it through him and outwards similar to light moving through a glass.
-ATTACHED: Varian has been known to make close attachments very easily and although he thinks it good that he does this there have been cases where his over-trusting nature has lead to manipulation. -
