DESCRIPTION​

Created almost exclusively on the planet Bescane in the Outer Rim, the Veber-class frigate was produced by Galentro Heavy Works to give muscle to smaller factions willing to pay through the nose for strength. Built solidly, the Veber-class frigate is designed to go for months at a time without needing refitting by factions and groups who otherwise, generally, lack direct access to shipyards of their own.

In battle, the Veber-class frigate earned its nickname of "The Turret Frigate" during action against organized pirate groups around the system of Bescane. During the initial shakedown run of three of the ships, they were able to hold off a large pirate snatch-and-grab assault by acting as turret defence positions covering each other's blindspots until back up could arrive. Due to its large main weaponry, the Veber-class frigate is able to punch largely above its literal weight class but its lacking secondary weaponry mean it is actually not able to punch down to ships below Corvette size.

As such, it is recommended that the Veber-class frigate be accompanied by corvettes specializing in anti-starfighter tactics or a squadron of dedicated escort fighters. Due to the shape of the ship, the hanger is configured to handle a small group of small freighters/shuttles rather than fighters as it lacks a specific run-way style area that would allow the fighters to speed up to assault speeds.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Veber-class frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT​

To create a frigate that can be bought from a corporation willing to sell to any faction and be owned by corporations, factions and NPCs.

RESTRICTIONS​

Veber-class Frigates are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
