Xanthier trudged through the ash. It stuck to his boots, clinging to the edges of his pantlegs. Boots, which had been worn thin since his escape from the asylum on the desolate moon nearly two years ago. Always running. Always moving. Trapped in a circle of events he brought on himself from the deaths he so ruthlessly continued to cause. The need for more consuming him to a point that was not feasible by any means. It seemed every settlement he reached, every port he docked into, was bound to suffer from the boy's hate.
It was that hate that had brought him here. Pursued by twin pilots seeking vengeance for the murders he had committed on their community. After taking one of their ships, they had perused him out into the blackness of space, tracking him to a nearby planet as he tried in vain to dodge their barrage of laser fire. His ship hurtling down towards the grey surface below.
The pilots dared not follow. The planet had a taboo for their people. It was a place to be left undisturbed. Great superstitions had lead their culture to believe the surface was cursed. They left the monster that had killed their tribesmen to rot amungst the grey forest below.
That was three days ago.
Xanthier had grown hungry beyond belief. He had found a stream the day before, it's aqua blue waters seemed to quench his thirst, and for the moment, he felt no illness.
Cracking through branches that lay in the path before him he moved without grace. There were times when he was silent as the wind, the boy knew how to stalk prey. Made a game out of it in hunting Sith. Now he was simply too tired to care.
He reached a clearing, sitting down and leaning against the largest stone in a circular ring. Indecipherable runes covered it's surface. Markings of a people long forgotten. Xanthier ran his hand along it's surface, resting his head against the cold stone behind.
Then, his sharp hearing picked up the sound of brush moving to the East. Something was here. He was not alone after all.
Someone, or some beast, had broken the silence.
He decided he would investigate. His body needed sustenance.
