hello there. some of you may remember reading the previous interest check. well this is here to provide some more clarity and to not dissuade others by having to look through multiple pages of chatter to get an idea.

so for starters it is obvious there are multiple people that have found an interest in the lore of warhammer in general. if you are one of those people and want to be part of the skype channel just let me know and add me on skype and i'll add you to the chat. the 40k chat does not correlate directly with this rp but just 40k things in general.

next i've noticed people are curious as to what type of RP this will be so let me clarify. this will all take place on this site in Diverse RP. it will be conducted similarly to how star wars rp is done with each person only controlling one PC. the GM (Game Master aka me) will be the one controlling NPCs, events, and the like for the most part. everyone will be the crew members of a ship. so keep in that in mind when creating your character.

next i have a few starting ideas/options to give those of you a choice as to what starting point to begin with. there are three options so choose wisely. I intend for this to be relatively small group of PCs but in time there is always the possibility for this growing into something much larger. regardless here they are. please keep in mind that these are brief summaries that are just meant to give you an overall idea of what the starting setting might be like. story development, character creation and future events will be influenced by which path is chosen:

OPTION I
The Ice Queen's Conquest

a Rogue Trader by the name of Skaela Lacerta is the master of a cobra class strike cruiser. she is on a voyage to make a name for herself and do her ancestors proud in the name of the emperor. she is a stern but fair captain hailing from Fenris. she seeks to both rid the Koronus Expanse of opposing scum as well as bring glory to her own ship and dynasty. whether this opposition shows itself in corrupt government, xenos, traitors and more it does not matter.

note: there is less leniency for "heretics" and xenos in this choice. a small group of space marines may be possible but it will be only one small squad and the rest being primarily humans. there is not a great deal of influence that the ship and its crew has (starting off). while this is the most Empyreal Creed inclined the captain does hail from Fenris which is sometimes regarded as borderline heretical. she is more of a militant leader and so thinks of things objectively in a cold calculated way. be wary of this choice.

OPTION II
The Chimera Pact

the galaxy is large and its citizens many. amongst them are numerous organizations that have uncertain agendas, the rogue traders first and foremost amongst these. join Mattheus von Strodde onboard his ship the Tail's tale as he and his crew travel through the Koronus Expanse looking for whatever speaks of adventure and opportunity. but keep in mind, there is always something going on in the shadows. a small contingent of space marines from various chapters aside from the Death Watch are onboard thanks to the influence and reach of an unknown party.

note: this is more of the progressive but still empire type rogue trader setting. the rogue trader does his own thing and if there are overly zealous members then the captain will likely tolerate it only so much. this is the kind of grey area (my the empire's standards) that rogue traders are known for. because the space marines onboard are not Death Watch (aka Ordo Xenos) they are not as likely to be as upholding of the strict empyreal creed.

OPTION III
Opportunists' Galore
crime is rampant in the galaxy. there are pirates, heretics, xenos, and sometimes Rogue Traders are amongst these in their dealings. while most sometimes interact and trade with criminals it isn't as often when one outright becomes one. Markku or more commonly known by the alias "the Edge" is regarded with either respect, fear, or hate and often all three. this is because while the rogue trader doesn't have much influence or actual power but the crew of the Jackal's Bounty makes up for it by reputation. it is said that they steal from other Rogue Traders, deal with traitors and employ only the most nefarious individuals.

note: this is the option for the more criminally inclined. here those that are closer to being the rag tag bunch of misfits who's reputation is a lot grander than the truth can join up and save one planet from xeno destruction while the next day they are dealing in arms in the blackmarket. the zealous members of the empire are probably keeping an eye on them. those that play xenos might want to pick this faction or the more "heretical" type characters.

Example short story
cuz i had this lying around

At first there was only a small glimmer of light. A small spark seen beyond fog, then a slow transition into a brighter flame. The fog parted slowly to reveal the blank surface of a neutral blue wall. This in turn slowly became brighter and flickered for a moment. The cause of the flickering was the blinking of a youthful female. The fog was almost completely gone when she sat up from her bed, the wall returning to existing as a ceiling once more.

After sitting upon the large bed within her chambers, she made her way over to the cleansing chamber just off of her bed chambers. Her bare feet took padded steps forward on the ornately tiled floors toward the water basin. Splashing her face with cool water and taking in deep breaths she leaned on the counter of the sink. Not a single shred of clothing adorn her pale flesh and not a scratch was visible on her unblemished skin. The woman continued to clean herself and go about her ritual concerning hygiene before walking out into her main chambers with nothing but a towel about her. Opening two large dark wooden doors she stood before rows of clothes she would most likely never wear.

Walking down the isle of various silks, cloths and accessories she selected a practical choice, undergarments first, then a long sleeved black shirt that was made of a silk that wicked the sweat away and kept the wearer’s temperature at a comfortable level. Next were a pair of regal blue pants. The pants were designed for an officer of the military particularly that of one occupying a colder area of the galaxy. The female placed on a pair of perfectly polished boots. Then came a chest piece of enforcer light amour. Normally something like that would go in an armory and not a robes’ closet. Afterwards the jacket that went over the reinforced plate fit snugly. Upon the left breast were numerous medals; on the right was a tassel that went under the arm and back around to the shoulder. The clothing ended with a full length black coat. Fur adorn the collar of the coat, the woman wore it on her shoulders, not fully putting it on for the time being.

In addition she placed a weapon's belt around her waist, on that held a multitude of materials and items one would not think of to find upon a lady for the most part. On the small of her back rested a smaller holster of a semi-automatic sidearm of decent caliber. A gilded pocket watch rested in the woman’s left hand as she checked the time. A quiet murmur rose from the back of her throat as she took notice of the limited time left until she was needed elsewhere. With a small click she closed the pocket watch in a practiced motionand moved to the back of the robes’ closet.

Slowly she approached the last piece of her adornments. Reverently she deactivated the stasis field around it and picked it up with caring hands. In her hands she held a sword, with a blade of amazing artifice that is never dulled, nor seemed to recieve damage. The relic was ancient, passed down through generations. Now she fixed it with its equally ornate sheath on her left hip. It’s shining luster always looking perfect in any light. Still looking at the sword a chirp came from behind her. The woman turned to see the source of the noise to be a small bead on a bench near her bedside. She went over and placed it in her ear and spoke into it with a stern voice.

“What is it?”

A firm male voice that was not intimidated by the tone used to ask the question answered promptly. “Captain, we are an hour away from Port Wander.”

“Understood. Is everything in order?”

“Yes Captain. We await your presence aboard the bridge.”

“I’ll be there shortly.” Without waiting for a response or confirmation she tapped the back of her teeth together to cut of the connection. Pleased with her preparations Skaela Lacerta made her way to the bridge of her ship. The Lunar Shadow was about to begin a new journey. its first stop, Port Wander.

Ain't no Cobra-class Cruiser. Only a Cobra Destroyer.

And now, a Dog with a speech impediment,

Example III
modified a little bit from the original storyline i had regarding these characters.

The rustling of the grass, the faint green color of the tall stalks at midnight, the swaying of a nearby tree, the chirp of crickets and faint fluttering of nocturnal bird barely discernable over the cool midnight breeze. A little boy had laid down in the tall stalks of green grass, looking up at the midnight sky. A young girl lay next to him. The young boy would have trouble remembering her face later in his life. But he wasn’t worried about the future or the past in that moment. They both lay there in the rustling brush, and stared up at the beautiful star lit sky. There was no moon in the sky that night. The stars seemed to make up for its absence, for the boy and the girl would have been able to see each other clearly if they had looked at each other. They kept their gaze on the sky, staring for hours wondering what was up in the big black sky. Wondering if someone, up there, was looking at them and wondering the same thing. They both smiled without a sound.

That was one good memory that Mattheus von Strodde had. He had never verbally told anyone about the memory with anyone not even the girl who was there. It was the kind of memory that never needed to be spoken of, just being there was enough. Mattheus pushed the memory into the back of his mind, and got up from his bed and silenced music music player. Others of similar status would be disappointed at his choice in music. Soon the moment of bliss was gone as he donned his gear.

He wore Syn-Skin which covered all his body from the neck down and Imperial Storm Trooper plates save for the helmet which he clipped to his belt in case he needed to use the advanced helmet systems. But on this ship it was highly unlikely unless they were attacked and boarded by an enemy vessel. He checked a pair of ancient master-crafted bolt pistols that had been given to him as a gift from a Space Wolf he had befriended long ago. He admired the craftsmanship before holstering them on a respective thigh. He put a kraken tooth dagger on his right hip and an extra knife in his right boot. Then the man slipped on a pair of shock knuckles which to the untrained eye looked more like fingerless gloves with padded knuckles. He had acquired a multitude of exotic weapons over the years, from a Harlequin’s Kiss to a Tau pulse rifle. Those weapons that he didn’t keep in his quarters he had in his private arming chamber. He had been told that he owned and carried an impressive amount of weapons. Each of Mattheus’s possessions had a story of its own and he cared for them greatly. Each was a reliable piece of equipment that had seen him through the good and the bad.

now he took a quick look a half meter square mirror hanging on a wall opposite his bed. he saw a man in his early thirties, with dark brown hair cropped short and stubble lining his tanned face. He grinned at himself revealing perfect teeth.

Mattheus von Strodde was from a small frontier world within the Koronus Expanse. it was known for its large gaming preserves and harsh climate that allowed ferocious beasts to thrive. while the Strodde Dynasty basically owned the intire system the house was in dire straights at the moment. the Tail's Tale was the only ship out of many that had survived the ages under the house's name. now he could fulfill his duty as the sole living heir to the family and bring more profit than ever to his house and have a fun adventure while dong it.

He heard a beep coming from his micro-bead. He put it in the earpiece that lay on his bed side table and opened the incoming call. “what is it?” he asked casually. A young male voice answered him, “we are done with the loading of the munitions captain, and everything is repaired and fully stocked.”

“Good, I’ll be up on the bridge in a few minutes.”

“Are you going to take the stairs again sir?”

“You’re damn right I am, you should too Link!” Mattheus knew most everyone on board by name and made sure that if he didn’t, he would make an effort to commit it to memory. This act was almost unheard of in the Imperium but Mattheus von Strodde believed that if your life was in someone’s hands you should at least know their name. Most of the living crew also came from a frontier background. It made it easier to remember most everyone’s name thanks to the fact that most of the crew were servitors. The cybernetic constructs were mostly machine, they didn’t go against orders and they required less than a human being.

“We have the go ahead to leave the dock sir, we are waiting for you.”

“Go ahead and move out, you don’t need me to be there to see you do something you’ve already done hundreds of times.”

“Yes sir.”

He exited his quarters and headed down a hall at a jog and up the maintenance stairs preferring not to take the elevators. He greeted everyone he passed on the way with a salute or a nod. “While I’m on my way you can fill me in one what’s going on.”

“All repairs are finished, guns are ready at a moments notice, and the new paint looks beautiful if i do say so myself.”

“and what’s the bad news?”

“everything is good sir.”

“Everything?” the captain pushed not believing it for a second.

“Well, we still haven’t been able to acquire another scout bike after our last engagement with those ork raiders.”

“for a rich governor Pelator still can’t find an Astartes Scout Bike.” he said under his breath and then continued, “whatever, we’ll get another one soon. Did Everett fix that sentinel loader like I asked?”

“He did sir, about two hours ago; he is currently working on that gun cutter in cargo bay B.”

“Good, glad to hear It.” he then switched off his micro-bead as he entered the bridge and came into view of the deck officer he was talking to. “Why are we still docked? We should be on our way to footfall by now.”

“Hadarak Fel crossed our flight path about five minutes ago and now we are going to be here for a few more minutes.” another deck officer said from her terminal.

“That bastard. When is he going to learn that he can’t do stuff like that without paying the consequences.” the captain said through gritted teeth.

“Perhaps someone should teach him a lesson.” said a voice off to Mattheus's right making him turn

“Ah, Nathanial, you are feeling better today?” Nathanial was the ship's navigator and had been for almost as long as Mattheus had been captain. Nathanial had been injured by an Ork in their most recent engagement with the greenskins.

“Barely, but seeing as you need me I thought I would come up and see what was going on.”

“Take a seat and tell me what you can about today’s weather. We might be here a little longer than I hoped.” The young captain said referring to the warp. Nathanial nodded and went to the navigator seat. After a few moments the navigator told the trader that the warp storms were dangerous and that it would be unwise to travel through the warp for a few days until it passes. he nodded after hearing all of this and stood up.

“tell the crew they have one week’s extra recreation. I don’t want them getting bored and doing something stupid.”

Definitely interested in this.

I'd say out of the three options, I'm liking the looks of the Chimera Pact best.

All 3 look cool to me but 2&3 seem to have better plots IMO.

EXAMPLE III
shortest one but whatever. i got things to do

"Don't hog it ya bloody-"
the woman snatched the short spliff from his deck officer before finishing her insult. the man didn't put up a fight as he was already feeling the buzz it would no doubt give the woman. the female took a long drag than was probably safe even considering the numerous drugs that laced the tobacco stick. the acrid smoke drifted lazily to the roof of the bridge where the woman stood as they drifted through the void. she walked heavily to her command throne in the center of the room and slumped into the worn plush seat with poor posture displaying her boredom.

"are they here yet?" she said after a few moments passed. she had already asked it several times in the passed half hour even knowing full well that the moment anybody arrived she would be alerted. her eyes watched the smoke from the small paper cylinder in her hand dance about for a moment before joining the rest in the dimly lit upper levels of the bridge. one of the deck officers gave a negative which only received a grunt from the captain just as it had before.

"wha abou-" a light blinked on the large arm rest of the command throne that made her stop mid sentence. she hit the button the light emanated from before replying. "yes?" she said curtly.

"Ma'am, the boys are getting restless down here. I think some of them are hyped up on some stuff from the last port visit while the other half are still hungover from last night."

this dialogue only received a sigh as if she were not all that surprised. the mercenaries she had onboard were trained killers but they were not the sharpest nor the smartest tools in the shed. "so just cut off the ones that're high an give the drugs to the hung over ones." she replied as if it were an obvious answer.

"yes ma'am." the voice said before the line was closed. more long moments passed as the ship sat silently in the darkness of space. most of the systems had been lowered to barely operational standards. some they had to keep running because there was a chance they wouldn't start again if they were turned off.

"Cap, I've got a read on the sensors. looks like it's a Hazeroth-class." without replying at first she took another long drag and finishing off the blunt the captain stood up. grinding the embers beneath her boot she clapped her hands together to get everyone's attention. a smile on her face.

"alright, listen up ya filth. you'r that's prolly one of Dak's ships and we all know he's been take'n from merchants aroun these parts. an you know what that means..." her smile grew even wider with a mischievous aura about her increasing. "...he's saved us the trouble of sorting through the junk and he'll get blamed for the theft. boy oh boy isn't today a lucky day."

slamming her right fist into her palm she issued orders to all the rag tag deck officers on the bridge. she called back to the mercenaries she had waiting on standby and let them know they would be needed soon. the best parts about stealing what was already stolen was that for one it saved them from having to sort through all the worthless junk and trinkets most people valued. also they wouldn't get blamed for the original crime and also could take out any potential opposition in the market essentially doubling their profits. "Thrusta's all ahead full." she said as she took her seat back on her command throne.

Marcus Grimm

wzLHYjG.jpg

General Information
Age: 27
Height: 6'
Weight: 190 lbs.
General Appearance: As expected of anyone who's dedicated their lives to military service, Marcus is well-built and keeps himself in shape. While often concealed by his helmet and armor, Marcus keeps his dark brown hair cut short, and has green eyes and fair skin.

Faceclaim: Jon Bernthal

Personality:
On duty, Marcus is a no nonsense type of soldier when it comes to following or giving orders, but isn't so overbearing as to ignore appropriate suggestions from his allies. Off-duty, it's noted he's more relaxed, but still maintains an air of professionalism when in the company of Guardsmen.

Overall, Marcus is a straight forward person. Honest, hard-working, and dedicated, he takes pride in his work and has devoted his life to service to the Imperium. He's the type of soldier to be rarely seen out of his armor, and almost never seen without a weapon of some kind. If his trust and respect is earned, expect him to be willing to lay down his life to protect you.

History
Born and raised in one of Cadia's numerous fortress cities, Marcus enlisted in the local Whiteshield regiment as soon as he was old enough. Both his parents were members of the Cadian Interior Guard, and he aspired to join them. After serving for quite a while with the Whiteshields, wherein he excelled in his duties and was praised for his work, he was finally shifted to a Shock Trooper regiment. There, he served for several years, eventually earning the rank of Corporal after successfully aiding in an attack on a cult of Chaos followers.

It was a combination of this valorous action and his excellent record as a Whiteshield that led to Marcus being selected to start training to become a Kasrkin. After a long and arduous process, he finally was able to count himself among the elite of his homeworld's fighting forces.

Gear
  • Lucius-pattern Hellgun and Backpack power generator
  • Kasrkin Carapace Armor
  • Cadian fatigues
  • Frag and Krak grenades
  • Combat knife
  • Miscellaneous equipment (Microbead, respirator, Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer, toolkit, and medkit.)
Figured I'd post the completed version of the profile here for simplicity's sake.

Rogue Trader Roles
RANK ONE
This rank only has one position, namely the Lord-Captain, master of the vessel.

Lord-Captain - @Darasuum
A void-ship is a mighty fortress, its Captain upon the command throne the feudal lord who accepts pledges of allegiance and fealty from his advisors, the commoner crew, and their elected spokesmen. The Lord-Captain is the ultimate decision-maker on matters of strategy, void-law, and negotiation, responsible for the lives and souls of all who pledge to his banner. The fate of thousands hangs upon his decisions, though a wise Lord-Captain takes council with his advisors and bridge crew, and listens well to their wisdom before giving his orders.
Career Preferences: Rogue Trader only.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Personal guard company, emissaries of Imperial powers, subordinate officers of the ship.

RANK TWO
This rank includes the Lord-Captain’s immediate seconds and senior command crew, the few in charge of the remainder of the ship.

First Officer
Though a Lord-Captain’s power is absolute, his time and energy are finite. Someone must stand at his right hand, acting as his voice and serving as an instrument of his will. The First Officer speaks and acts with the full authority of his Lord-Captain, ever prepared to assume the mantle of leadership should his Lord become indisposed.
Career Preferences: Any save Astropath Transcendent.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: All senior bridge officers, deck foremen, Mechanicus Emissariat.

Enginseer Prime
In the eyes of the Cult Mechanicus, an Imperial void-ship is a living shrine, rife with Tech-Adepts and servitors, its machine sections constantly rebuilt, repaired, and encrusted with shrines and prayer-works. Constant labour is necessary to sustain the vessel’s great machine spirit and so please the Omnissiah—and moreover, it is vital preparation to stand against the disorder of battle damage and the great efforts needed to repair such violations of a holy place. The Enginseer Prime directs this holy toil, and his solemn pledge to the Lord-Captain holds him responsible for maintenance of the void-ship’s strength, resilience, and tech-secrets.
Career Preference: Usually Explorator, but possibly Missionary or Void-Master as well.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Appointed Magos Enginarium, emissary of the Latheic Archmagi, aggregate council of machine-shrine Tech-Priests.

High Factotum
The High Factotum is a maestro of the mechanisms of trade: negotiations, compacts, endless records, bribes, threats, and the filling and emptying of great-holds. Maintaining the crew at strength and obtaining needed supplies for the continuing operation of the void-ships is also the High Factotum’s concern. This is a realm in which corruption and honour walk hand in hand, and the path taken by Thrones is always twisted to private ends. The High Factotum has pledged to bring profit to the Lord-Captain’s venture, and will do whatever is necessary to keep both dock-scum and haughty, hidebound merchants in line.
Career Preference: Usually Seneschal but also Missionary.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Quartermasters, skilled negotiators and factors, officers of the common great-hold crew.

RANK THREE
Those in the “third rank” aboard a starship are still command staff, usually those given specialized duties with unique skill-sets.

Master-At-Arms
An Imperial void-ship can muster numerous small armies: security companies, boarding parties, the common crew armed with rusty blades and stub-guns, and often entire barracked regiments of mercenaries, Imperial Guard, or other steadfast troops. The Master-at-Arms is responsible for these militants and their commanders; it is his pledged duty to the Lord-Captain to ensure the loyalty of the void-ship’s forces, carefully guard the vessel’s security, maintain the armouries, ensure victory against boarders, and guide attacks upon the crew of enemy vessels or foes on hostile worlds.
Career Preference: Typically Arch-Militant but also Void-master.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Armoury crew, shipboard troop commanders, mercenary leaders.

Master Helmsman
The Master Helmsman is responsible for safely piloting the vast vessel through the myriad threats of the void of space. A helmsman risen to be master of his profession must have a sixth sense for the dangers that can confound auspex and lead void-ships to ruin, and know how best to make use of his helm crew and their familiarity with a vessel’s character. The Master Helmsman must pilot not just the voids, but also the competing fiefdoms of enginarium, auspex, and bridge crew to ensure that every manoeuvre is accomplished to the Lord-Captain’s exacting standards.
Career Preference: Normally Void-master but Explorator and Arch-Militant are also possible.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Helm crew, enginarium Tech-Priests, lesser auspex officers.

Master of Ordnance
The Master of Ordnance pledges to keep the void-ship’s weapons and fighting crew in the finest condition, and then directs them to destroy foes at the Lord-Captain’s order. He is responsible for the quality of gun-deck crews, the workings of the armoured munitions vaults deep within the vessel, and the operation of weapons in void-battle. If the vessel boasts torpedoes, fighter squadrons, or other more esoteric ordnance, then these crews and systems also fall under the Master’s purview.
Career Preference: Usually Arch-Militant but also Void-master.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Assembled officers of each gun-deck, lance battery, and other ordnance system, munitions vault crew, commanding officer of small-craft squadrons.

Master of Etherics
The Master of Etherics is responsible for the operation of the void-ship’s auspex and vox systems. Without auspex a vessel is blind, and without vox it is deaf and mute; the Master of Etherics stands at the Lord-Captain’s right hand, such is his worth, and to fail in his pledge is unthinkable. Dire regions beyond the Imperium are cloaked with the darkness of the unknown—the Master of Etherics must marshal his resources to overcome these hostile voids and light the path ahead with his vision.
Career Preference: Usually Void-master but Arch-Militant and Explorator are possible.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Lesser auspex vault officers, lesser vox system officers, appointed Tech-Priest of Etherics.

Chief Chirurgeon
The Chief Chirurgeon is master of the void-ship’s medicae wards and their staff: doctors of physiks, medicae, alchemists, and a horde of apprentices. Accidents, maladies, and agues of a thousand varieties afflict common voidfarers, and a crew unattended by medicae and physiks will soon enough lapse into illness, putting the safety of the vessel at risk. The Chief Chirurgeon pledges his talents to maintain the crew’s stalwart willingness to toil, and further to make of his wards and supply vaults a scourge upon disease, injury, and sicknesses of the mind.
Career Preference: Usually Missionary or Explorator but Seneschal is possible.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Biologis Tech-Adepts pledged to the medicae wards, lesser medicae and doctors of physiks, appointed Savant-Medicaes of the void-ship librarium.

Master of Whispers
Men and women are willful creatures, given to secrets, deceit, disloyalty, and subterfuge. The Master of Whispers inhabits this realm; he seeks out and purge the crooked timbers and weak spars in the Rogue Trader’s crew. His agents hunt for the very same elements in rival Rogue Trader missions—but for the purpose of advantage and deception. Spies pledged to the Master of Whispers roam far beyond the void-ship’s bulkheads in search of precious knowledge, untended resources, and hidden weaknesses that can benefit the Lord-Captain’s mission.
Career Preference: Usually Seneschal but could also be Missionary.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: A array of capable agents, master savant of the void-ship librarium, trusted spies in the crew.

Choir-Master Telepathica
The etheric voices of Astropaths resound throughout the Immaterium. When these voices are united by a single will, they combine into a psychic harmony capable of touching minds half a galaxy away. The Choir-master directs this harmony, and in turn directs the choir as a whole.
Career Preference: Only the Astropath Transcendent.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Lesser Astropaths of the Choir, Choir support staff, Ritemasters of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica.

Warp Guide
Also sometimes known as the Navigator Primaris, the Warp Guide is wholly responsible for steering the vessel through the treacherous tides of the Empyrean, both the safer routes within Imperial borders, and the terrible, dark voids beyond. The Warp Guide’s burden is heavy indeed; he and he alone stands as a bulwark between thousands of faithful Imperial souls and the unbridled damnations of the warp. A single mistake and terrible daemons of the Empyreal spaces will consume the vessel and all aboard it, and that horrid death will be but a prelude to the eternal torment that follows.
Career Preference: Navigator only.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Lesser Navigators on board, trusted bodyguards and assassins, emissary of the Navigator House elders.

RANK FOUR
This is the rank of ship’s officers who have the most day to day contact with the crew, and are often intimately familiar with the ship’s workings.

Ship’s Confessor
The Ship’s Confessor is the uppermost hierarch of shrines and Clerics aboard the vessel, responsible for their scriptural purity and by extension the spiritual well-being of all aboard. The God-Emperor protects the righteous who abide by the holy laws of Ministorum and Imperium, and it is His will that keeps the warp at bay and guides weapons to strike true against foul xenos. The Ship’s Confessor pledges to uphold the faith and courage of the crew against all adversities, and so make the void-ship a true cathedral of the Imperial Creed, echoing with the prayers of the holy and blessed in the God-Emperor’s sight.
Career Preference: Normally Missionary but could also be Explorator or Seneschal
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Lesser Clerics and Confessors of the vessel’s shrines, emissaries of major Ministorum cults in attendance, an unruly mob of zealots, penitents, and pilgrims.

Drivesmaster - @Intratec
A voideship’s enginearium is a sprawling complex filling many decks. Within this sepulchral facility countless ranks of enginseers work the rites that appease the machine spirits of the vessels roaring heart. Some among their number are schooled in special rituals that inspire the drive to greater efforts. The Drivesmaster is in charge of monitoring and maintaining the roaring plasma drives that form the heart of the ship. Though subservient to the Enginseer Prime, the Drivesmaster often maintains the plasma drives as his own fiefdom, where none but the Mechanicus and their servants are welcome.
Career Preference: Explorators only.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Enginseers of the Drive Temple, enginearium servitors, crewmembers who maintain the primary plasma conduits

Omnissianic Congregator
The machine spirit of a starship is a slow but fickle intelligence, demanding the veneration and respect of hundreds if it is to function properly. The Omnissianic Congregator guides the tech-priests and other crew versed in technoarcane ritual, in the maintenance rites and algorithmic prayers that appease spirit of the ship, conferring the blessings of the Omnissiah upon its operation.
Career Preference: Only Explorators and character with the Forge World Home World option.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Laymen Shipwrights, lexemechanics of the Central Cogitation Vault, keepers of the Altar Omnissiah.

Chief Bosun - @Chask274
Voidfarers are often trained from birth in the tasks they will be expected to perform aboard ship, and this training does not end when a position is secured. To keep skills sharp, all crew are expected to participate in regular drills and practice sessions. A steady regimen of drills makes for an efficient crew. The Chief Bosun also serves as the enforcer of discipline aboard a vessel.
Career Preference: Arch-militants, Missionaries, Seneschals, and Void-masters.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Watch leaders, bonded shipwrights, armsmen commanders.

Infernus Master
No shipboard danger is more devastating or frightening than fire, burning uncontrolled through a voidship’s corridors and decks. Even the smallest blaze can send a seasoned crew into a panic, trampling each other in the frenzy to escape through narrow corridors before the bulkhead is sealed in a vain attempt to keep the fire from spreading. During a conflagration, the Infernus Master is charged with keeping order and minimizing the damage caused to equipment, personnel, and morale. The Infernus Master organizes bucket chains, directs evacuations, and commands damage control crews brave enough to combat even the deadliest plasma flares.
Career Preferences: Not Rogue Trader, Astropath Transcendent, Explorator, or Navigator.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Commanders of shipboard troops, aqueduct technicians, senior damage-control crew.

Twistcatcher - @Asher
Those who dwell within the enclosed environment of a voidship’s hull risk constant exposure to radiation, both from the vessel’s mighty engines and the void itself. These harsh conditions mean an increased risk of mutation. It is a lamentable fact that even the most well-maintained vessels play host to sizeable mutant populations, hordes of the deformed unfortunates lurking in unused holds and seldom-serviced bilge decks. It is the duty of the Twistcatcher to keep his ship’s mutant population in check, and in times of dire need press these malformed wastrels into service for the good of the human crew.
Career Preference: Typically Arch-Militant or Missionary…any save the Rogue Trader.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Press gang foreman, mutant informants, bilge workers.

Master of the Vox
In the course of daily operations, an endless stream of vox traffic passes through a voidship’s command deck. These lines of communication are vital to the operation of a vessel and a Rogue Trader’s fleet, and it is the responsibility of the Master of The Vox to keep all channels of communication clear, and all vox-casters functioning at peak efficiency.
Career Preference: Astropath Transcendent, Seneschal, and Void-master
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Senior communications officers, officers of cryptography, vox-caster maintenance personnel.

Purser
The operation of a Rogue Trader’s vessel and the execution of endeavours requires uncountable amounts of wealth to be shuffled between investments and expenses on a daily basis, and the risk of loss is great. Financial officers must be prepared to balance enough books to fill a librarium many times over. In an economic climate where the single stroke of an autoquill can mean the difference between tragic loss and phenomenal gain, the purser must be tireless and ever vigilant. However, the purser also has a second duty, to ration payment and rewards to the crew serving aboard his ship. This often means the purser is loved and hated in turn, based on how forthcoming a crew’s pay is.
Career Preference: Seneschal only.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Senior financial managers, chartered accountants, the Master of Pensions.

Carto-Artifex
The void and the warp contain dangers that often mean death for those who venture forth unprepared. The best way to survive such dangers is to avoid them entirely. To this end, a wise Lord-Captain consults his Carto-artifex before any voyage. This master of charts and hololithic maps is charged with finding safe routs and circumventing danger. The secrets of the void and the warp are laid bare before his vast knowledge of the tides and current of the immaterium.
Career Preferences: Seneschals, Navigators, Explorators, and other Explorers with a scholarly bent.
Examples of immediate Subordinates: Navigator House archivists, keeper of the librarium, deep void auger operator.

Ship’s Steward
The vast stocks of food, water, and air upon which a crew depends must be carefully monitored and rationed, lest wanton consumption and theft lead to a crippling shortage. Someone must take charge of these resources, to see that they are used properly. To do less invites starvation, dehydration, and suffocation on a catastrophic scale.
Career Preferences: Seneschal and Void-master, plus any character with the Void Born Home World option.
Examples of Immediate Subordinates: Master of Stores, senior hydrologists, guildmaster of Atmospheric Reclamators.

Arbitrator Sorin Nayl

NAME: Sorin Nayl
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 32
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 6'1
WEIGHT: 97.5 kg

GEAR:
Power Maul

Astartes Assault Shotgun
Bolt Pistol
Hydraphur-pattern Judge's Carapace
Lockshield
Magnacle
Vox-Pickup

Sitting as a member of the Militant Arm of the Adeptus Arbites, Sorin Nayl was born in the Calixis sector as a member of a Military Family; conscripted into the armed forces mere months after they gave birth to him. He was placed into the care of Schola Progenum at a young age, shortly after the death of his parents, who fell in the first wave of their very first battle. This fashioned him into something of a weapon, a tool to be used by the men and women of the Adeptus Terra to enforce the 'Lex Imperialis' across the wider Galaxy.

Upon graduation from the Schola, he was awarded the rank of Arbitrator, and deployed on a mission back to his home sector of Calixes in which he worked for several years, rising through the ranks to become a Detective-Arbiter, expected to act on high ranking cases as independently as possible. After several daring shootouts, numerous cases and other such fascinating stuff, he was ordered by the precept Judge to report to the inbound Rogue Trader for his latest enforcement duties.

High Factotum Maxila Augustine

Like many of his rank and station, Maxila was born into the world of trade and diplomacy as the son and heir of a Guilded family on the homeworld of Humanity, Terra itself. With such a proud claim of upbringing, and with such proximity to the apex of Imperial Power, there was little inhibition to Maxila rising through the ranks of whatever profession he chose; yet, his birthright did not grant him the liberty of choice.

Educated to the highest degree by the Shipmasters Guild, and their repertoire of tutors, he was expected to spend his life preparing to take over his father fleet of Merchant vessels, and thus as soon as he was able, he was assigned to whatever vessels his family could get him access to; serving as a Trade Envoy or Officer of the Fleet.

He worked for numerous private ship masters, and on more than one occasions for the Imperial Navy itself, before his latest assignment took him to the side of a Rogue Trader Captain…[size]

Equipment & Gear

Combat, naturally, is not the man's direct preference, indeed he rarely is required to leave the upper levels of the ship to which he is assigned. As such he finds himself equipped only with a ceremonial saber, auto-pistol and digi weapons in the form of a ring. He wears a dress uniform, and is complete with cybernetic implants that enhance his memory and data processing abilities.

Behold. A character that can actually be of use to the team.
