[Clara Reach]

Gatalenta, an oddly peaceful and warm planet. That was unusual in today's galaxy. So when Gatelenta ended up on the Star Guardians' radar, it caught Clara off guard. On the one hand, Gatalenta seemed like an odd place for a Star Guardians hospital. It was peaceful, relatively wealthy in comparison to many other planets and located in the inner core. On the other hand, all of this was precisely why a Star Guardians hospital would be absolutely perfect. There's no better place to recover or heal than Gatalenta.

Clara was overjoyed when she finally boarded the ship bound for Gatalenta with a Star Medic named Jayrenel Metrum. While she'd never met Jayrenel before due to her inability to be in all hospitals at the same time, the woman had a good track record and seemed interested when the job offer to join on a diplomatic mission was floated around. So Clara had made arrangements for the woman to stay at the facility closest to Gatelenta, with plenty of fresh food from the gardens and comfort until the trip itself.

"So." Clara spoke up after a few minutes of silence; they'd exchanged greetings and brief introductions but had yet to conduct any briefings. "The plan is to convince the Senator to allow us to build a hospital on their land. And, if possible, work out a deal to create some medical teas with their help. Gatalenta is well-known for their teas, so being able to create some with them and sell them all over the galaxy would be a fantastic opportunity." The woman gave Jayrenel a warm, almost maternal smile. "Please feel free to join in the conversation if you have any great ideas that could help us, or if you hear something you disagree with or anything. You are here as my equal in this discussion, not as somebody to listen quietly!"

The ship landed not long after, the flight itself thankfully short. The lovely planet Gatalenta came into view, sunrays elegantly dancing through the windows. Clara couldn't help but marvel at its peaceful aura, which was difficult to miss even for those who lacked Force. While the beauty rolled into view, the auto-pilot system asked for permission to land at the meeting spot and then automatically identified itself. As that was going on, Clara returned her attention to Jayrenel. "Any last questions before we get escorted to the Senator?"

[Jayrenel Metrum]

During her stay at the facility on the way to their destination, Dr. Jayrenel Metrum had done a bit of reading up on the planet and its people while sipping coffee instead of tea.

The weather was as warm as the culture, with an emphasis on serenity to the point of thanking the suns for rising. They even meditated while exercising high in the sky.

Jay could relate, in a way. Except her morning workout was working out how to get out of bed.

“Sounds like a plan, ma’am.” Jay exchanged the smile. Equal or not, the Star Lady was still above the Star Medic.

Gatalenta was of course well off enough to have medical material and hospitals already, but it didn’t have a Star Guardians hospital.

“People can sometimes be too healthy if you know what I mean. They stop prioritizing medicine, being preemptive, developing new treatments, until new diseases bite them in the ass.” She cleared her throat. “Ma’am.”

As the planet came into view, Jay saw green and blue, the world being one of those jewels where you just knew sunbathing on a beach was a very real dream. Bet they got some great fish.

Toward the surface, above the seas, so many trees and plains, but none of this environment was plain.

Rolling hills that way, meadows of wild flowers over there, the ship lowering to the center where a city awaited, just as brilliant, and began to touch down.

“Uhhh.” Jay considered an appropriate question for the moment before their escort.

“Think we’ll get to do a bit of sightseeing before we leave? Not too keen on any poetry readings but could go for a skyfaring show and I’m sure there’s more than one cafe to get some Gatalentan tea only they probably just call it tea—”

“Permission granted,” a voice hailed the ship that cut off Jayrenel’s rambling mid-sentence. “Gatalenta welcomes you.”

“Well, apparently I have the right outfit at least.” Jay was dressed all in white, with grey shoes, and both being the preferred choice of Gatalentan culture. "Maybe it'll earn me some free drinks!" She winked, and if her commander wasn't amused then Jay would just awkwardly blink away.

[Maryenne Vennen]

The spaceport of the capital city of Gatalenta was crowded, with people from different parts of the planet having gathered here to see the arrival of the representatives of the Star Guardians. Many on the planet admired how the organization helped so many individuals across the Galaxy.

In front of the crowd of curious citizens was Maryenne, flanked by her protocol droid, Florian, and her brother, Joscelyn. The Senator was dressed in a gray dress, while her brother was far less formal than her. Even in the face of such an important meeting, the young man didn’t care about the protocol necessary.

“Why are they taking so long?” Joscelyn complained, before yawning. Her brother could be so annoying. “I bet that it’s because of them being a bunch of slow old people.” he smirked, before crossing his arms. “Only old people had patience for these meetings.”

Maryenne’s eyebrow twitched with the comment, but she didn’t have the chance to reply. The ship of their visitors had arrived and was preparing to land.

[Clara Reach]

Clara smiled warmly at the woman, clearly amused by how open she felt to discuss how people can be overly healthy, believing they were above the medicine. And, of course, she was correct; arrogance was a great way to bring oneself down. But that wasn't the reason Clara found it so amusing; she simply enjoyed it whenever someone felt comfortable enough around her to speak up. She wished more people did it instead of being so polite to her.

"You are absolutely right. Let's hope they listen to our words and allow us to help, but the fact that the Senator agreed to this meeting gives me confidence that she genuinely cares about her people. So if everything goes well, they won't get bitten in the ass." Clara grinned warmly.

Clara's brow raised in response to Jayrenel's question, even though it was cut off by the voice. She hadn't even considered taking a day off to enjoy the world. Then again, why not? They'd worked hard, the hospital practically ran itself, and if a disaster happened that required a first aid camp anywhere, they could leave at any moment.

After that, the woman's gaze returned to Jayrenel's dress, her earlier amused smile returning. "Well I was thinking, we could stay for a day, do some sightseeing, get you that free drink!" She laughed warmly before lowering her gaze to her most formal dress. "However, I believe I am less fortunate than you in that regard. At the very least, my ribbon is white." She smiled as she rose to her feet, the ship having landed seconds prior. "Come, I think they are waiting for us."

Clara took a confident step down the ramp, hiding her wonder as she caught more glimpses of the planet now that they were on the surface. It was truly a gem, a rare work of art. Instead of marveling at the flora, she forced her gaze to be drawn to the Senator and what appeared to be her brother.

"Senator Vennen." Clara lowered her upper body in a respectful curtsey. "It's a real pleasure to meet you. I'm Clara Reach, and with me is Star Medic Jayrenel Metrum. Thank you for having us on your lovely planet." It was customary to begin with an introduction and complimenting the Senator's planet, but it was clear from her tone that she didn't do it out of politeness; she meant every word she spoke.

[Jayrenel Metrum]

To Jay’s good grace, the Star Lady had actually agreed to getting underway with some entertainment before their business concluded on this planet. In that same vein, she hadn’t berated her for the cheesy mentioning of drinks amid the sightseeing. How pleasing.

“You look fantastic,” Jay genuinely complimented her companion’s dress. “Good to look different as much as the same, and you got that white right, I'd say.” The pair rose to their feet, beckoned to make their appearance, both political and medical. Right.

Dr. Jayrenel Metrum stood to attention. She wasn’t much for crowds, making her a bit uneasy, surrounded by spectators gawking at these visitors, strangers in another verse.

From another universe. May as well be. Jay trained her gaze, not on flora, but on cityscape. The spaceport was its own marvel. Fittingly so, given it was the entrance and an exit for the planet.

A bit distracted by Clara’s curtsy, Jay just bowed her head, hoping it served for the best. The Senator was in a great grey dress, her brother beside her in a black leather jacket, offering a contrast between them, but the doctor’s attention was on the senator.

“It really is a lovely planet by the way!” Jay gave her best smile. “Saw some pretty sweet lilies! Were those purple daisies, maybe?” She pointed into the distance, as if her hostess could see past the buildings.

“Or…or roses…tulips, from a certain perspective, I dunno...a bit of purplish pinkish orchids...I uh…I’ma go quiet now.” She cleared her throat. Great, Jay. Make your Star Lady feel proud.

[Maryenne Vennen]

Maryenne watched the Star Lady and her companion descend through the ship’s ramp. The two were younger than the Senator and her brother expected, with Joscelyn immediately re-establishing his composure. She already felt a headache coming because of what could be crossing his mind.

“Welcome to Gatalenta! It’s a pleasure to have you two here.” she smiled friendly at them, after giving a respectful bow. “Your kind words are very welcome to my people.” Maryenne gestured to the crowd that was watching them from a distance. “I’m Senator Maryenne Vennen and this is my brother, Joscelyn.”

At mention of his name, Joscelyn immediately approached, putting himself between the two newcomers and his sister, a smug smile on his lips. “Yes the planet is beautiful, but nothing gets close to the two of you.” he winked at them, while Maryenne gestured for Florian to do something. “Maybe we could go out after…” the protocol droid grabbed him by the jacket and dragged the young man away.

“I’m sorry for it.” the Senator said, while looking at her brother being pulled away. She turned back to the women. “Please, follow me. There is a room in the building where we can discuss our agreement.”

[Clara Reach]

Clara smiled warmly at Jayrenel's remarks and the way she seemed to ramble on and on. It wasn't exactly professional, but at least she was trying to show interest and compliment the planet, and thus indirectly the senator and citizens who were staring at them. So, while it was awkward for her, it seemed almost endearing to an outsider. Senator Vennen seemed to echo that sentiment, thanking them for their kind words.

Less kind were the Senator's brother's words. She wouldn't have cared if it had just been her, but something about openly flirting while hundreds of eyes were on them, flirts directed at Jayrenel no less? They weren't here to be some guy's eye candy?! It was enough to make Clara's eyes harden, her shoulders square, and her jaw tighten. She was about to say something about how unprofessional this was. Almost. Because the Senator's protocol droid dragged him out with a disgraceful act, followed by a heartfelt apology. Which was enough for Clara to visibly calm down and relax a bit.

"Ah, I understand. It can happen. Family." Her smile returned to her pink lips, but her voice was slightly distant, almost as if she was guarding herself. "Come." As she began to follow the Senator towards the building, she motioned for Jayrenel to join them. But despite following, she decided to take slower steps in order to align herself with Jayrenel and lean towards her ear. "You are doing great so far, don't worry!"

The structure was even more beautiful up close than she could have imagined. Much more beautiful than seemed from a distance. She didn't even try to hide the look of awe on her face; it was pointless. Gatalenta was a truly magnificent planet, far more beautiful than anything else she had ever seen.
