It also only works to commands. Commands it was not given. Therefore can't be doing it... "Conveniently starts scanning the area for a ship" is super meta.

Regardless, once you scan the ship, the ship computer will ping an alert, as is seen multiple times in Canon. It would fall then for the Droid to scan as a reaction. So Ryu would have a small window of opportunity before he gets counter scanned. Even so, at range the Droid would glean the model of the ship, at best, but the other will know "someone is watching".

Or is that unreasonable?

I'm not scanning the ship, it's 75meters long and Yellow... I won't need to scan it to see it. I already saw the direction it flew in, a bit of scanning the area with my eyes is more than adequate for the task at hand.

It'd be an important distinction to include in your actual IC post that he was doing visual vs lifesign scan, so I'd say it's fair game to take your IC post at face value unless you make it clear that he's going about it with raw visuals.

Which I in turn have now said I am happy to do that way too. If there was a way for you guys to locate me, I'd have written it, I can't meta game the same as you can't we are all required to follow the rules, so when there is an opening to find me. Which I'm sure there will be... You guys I'm sure will notice and capitalise on it.

I have no choice but to ignore your post because, as you said, no one on the surface can react to it anyways. I literally have no way to acknowledge anything you wrote without violating meta. It's not a threat, it just the way it is as a result of what you gave me to work with. Unless I am alone in my assumption that "scanning the area" with your ship meant digitally scanning for the Jedi craft, making it "visually scanning" as to avoid further confusion seemed like the path of least resistance. I guess I was wrong?

I have written visually to confirm what i have already told you here.

Also, what is the range on ship scanners? How would scanners pick up that a lifeform in this era is human? Seeing as your in a forest, the place is teeming with lifeform signatures. The lifeform scanners in this era are crud.

Ship scanners have been neither here nor there in canon, honestly. Sometimes they scan an immediate area, other times they scan the entire planet. From memory, any planetwide scans take a little while (as in a handful of minutes) and are done from orbit. In atmosphere, I'd say it has a narrower scope, but is quicker to scan. But yeah, scanning for lifeforms in a high-population biome would probably result in white noise, unless you had a sample of tissue and probe droids...
