Balosar

Thel had been greatly concerned when he had heard that Endron Maxil, his contact at Fergriss Pharmaceuticals, had nearly been assassinated. Whilst the other shareholders had agreed to cooperate with the Sith, Maxil was still their biggest advocate. With him gone, the arrangement between the company and the Sith could be threatened. Luckily, he was recovering from the attack and in decent condition. Maxil had specifically requested that the Sith investigate the assassination attempt, to find the culprit.

Thel stood in the main hangar bay, at Fergriss’ factory on Balosar. He was dressed in his robes. Sith champion Quinn Vakarian had been assigned to work with him on this and he was waiting for her to arrive. He hadn’t met her before, but he trusted she would be capable of doing a good job. He hadn’t had the chance to work with a Sith he knew in a while. Ambrosia seemed to be incommunicado. Cyutadakyr had gone missing on Kashyyyk. A fool’s errand. He thought the Sith’s presence on Kashyyyk had been a complete waste of time; especially as it seemed to have cost them a valuable operative. It was vital that the Sith grow their influence in the shadows. His connection with Fegriss Pharmaceuticals, was an important part of that.

It wasn't often that the Sith were called in after someone failed an assassination attempt. At least in Quinn's experience, they were usually on the other end. Or maybe that was just the kind of jobs that she tended to gravitate towards. Killing someone was often far easier than trying to figure out who the killer might have been.

She'd arrived on Balosar a little while ago, though made no real attempt to get to where she was meeting Thel with any particular haste. Quinn preferred to get the lay of the land before truly starting an assignment. Prudent information gathering so they could be proactive instead of reactive, at least that's how she looked at it.

Eventually she'd find herself in the hanger bay of the factory, easily spotting Thel amongst the others that were milling about. Part of the reason that she preferred more contemporary clothing compared to the typical robes that many Sith chose to wear.

Approaching Thel, Quinn would toss the man a wave of greeting, though her face would seem stony and focused in contrast to her apparent friendly greeting.

I've been snooping around a bit, Quinn said, sidestepping the usual small talk and getting straight into the task at hand. A small view into who she was as a person, if Thel were to be so observant. The assassin covered their tracks well, evidence is extremely thin.

Looking around, Quinn sighed discontentedly before retrieving a cigarette from a pack she kept in her jacket. She would offer one to Thel before flipping one of the small white sticks into her mouth and sparking it with a silver flip lighter.

Have you talked to Maxil? He must have seen something[ useful.

Quinn would take idle drags from her cigarette, her lazy gaze locked onto Thel, hoping to hear something positive and they wouldn't be starting from the bottom of square one.

Thel glanced around, looking for Vakarian. Eventually, he spotted her moving in his direction. He had made sure to see an image of her when she was assigned to work with him, so he could easily identify her. She was casually dressed, in contrast to his way of dressing. He gave a nod of his head, in response to her greeting.

He thought it was prudent of her to have begun looking into things. “Yes, the security here couldn’t find a trace of the attacker.” Given the rivalry between different companies on Balosar, the obvious answer would be an attempt by a rival. Not that anything is ever necessarily so straightforward. “No, thank you,” he replied to her offer of a cigarette.

I have spoken to him. The attack was in his room on the top floor. He has a bedroom up there for when he works late hours. It’s more convenient for him than returning to his penthouse,” he explained. “He woke up to find the attacker looming over him with a vibroblade. They were masked and he thinks they were male. After a struggle, he managed to fight them off. Though Maxil did sustain quite bad injuries.

Thel paused, taking a look around. “It seems strange. The way in which the attacker covered their tracks suggests that they’re competent. However, the manner of the attack would suggest otherwise,” he speculated. “Anyway, I’ve arranged for us to take a look at the room. See if we can find something.

Maxil’s room was on the top floor. A security officer, accompanied by an astromech droid, waited at the door. “Sir. Madam. I’m Security Officer Quinn. I’ve been assigned to assist you.” Thel acknowledged the officer’s greeting. “Thank you. Why don’t you and my colleague here take a look at the room. I want to check something else with the astromech.” When Vakarian entered the room, she would probably notice that there was no obvious sign of forced entry.
