It was a quiet morning on the Jedi planet of Yavin IV. The birds were singing, the flowers were blooming, and on this serene and peaceful day Aronas Vicar decided that it would be perfect to host a training mission. This was no classroom training session however, as only with practice could theory be fully realized. Instead, he had arranged for today to be something of a practical demonstration of ability, a chance for a small group of Padawans to stretch their legs and explore. It was a time of war, after all, and tensions were bound to rise while morale might be at an all-time low with the assault on a famed Jedi temple. This was a time to forget the woes of the Jedi and focus on self-improvement, the gradual betterment of one's own skills and talents.

For his part, Aronas believed in a certain "practice how you play" mentality, and so he was dressed in his Jedi Wanderer armor. He also brought along a small backpack of supplies in case the trip lasted longer than he meant it to, though he doubted either of these items would be necessary. This was a simple exploratory training session that would carry the team into the heart of the Yavin IV jungle, and along the way they would likely encounter the same obstacles that the garrison reported while hunting. Wild creatures, environmental hazards, and the like would be a perfect opportunity for the students to show their mettle in a semi-controlled setting. Of course, Aronas had also added a few...obstacles of his own for training purposes...

Just outside the Jedi temple, on the border of the jungle itself, Aronas met with the students he would be guiding through the jungles. "Padawans, today you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs and employ your skills. We will enter into the heart of this jungle and put the skills you have learned thus far to good use before returning to the Jedi Temple. I have prearranged a surprise or two that you should be prepared for, but what those are will have to wait until we are properly inside. Now then, is everyone ready?" Aronas smiled as he awaited the answer to his only slightly rhetorical question.

Aronas was a Knight that Crix hadn’t come across before but that just meant that he needed to spend more time socializing since his recent hospitalization. That he hadn’t met the Knight before didn’t mean much of course but it did mean he might be able to get a different perspective. It helped his self-esteem that Aronas had never met him before his most recent injuries.

For a Zabrak, their horns were important and having half the horns on the left side of his head permanently cracked and broken was a sore spot. Worse, of course, was the patchwork of scars across the back of his head. They had healed well enough for him to be engaging in Jedi activities but they were still red and without hair?

They were very noticeable but he refused to hide them.

He was wearing his personal robes/armor and had his lightsaber attached to his belt since he had been reunited with it by Poet. Smiling an easy grin, he nodded to the Knight.

“Ready as I can be.”
He told the Knight brightly, “Ready to find out that you’ve probably stacked the deck so we’ve got it harder like but ready!”

Arctus had zero karking clue what he had just signed up into.

He was the only grown-ass man amongst the group of Padawans gathered in the area, and he was beginning to feel more and more like an outsider the longer he stood there. Granted, he'd already met Knight Vicar on a meeting prior to this excursion, but the former smuggler still felt out of place among the learners who were already way beyond the progress he hoped to achieve.

Ah, but this was not the time to feel disheartened or feel as if he did not belong! Feeling these things would only undermine the kindness and help Indy had shown and given him – and this was what he wanted in the first place. To learn about the Force and start anew as a part of the Jedi Order. Things which were the least he could do for the people who saw value in him living – those who were sincere about that sentiment, at least.

It was still funny, in a weird sort of way, that he might have probably been the oldest Padawan in this batch. Did the Jedi Order's learning system and structure even resemble a normal school?

Arctus stood warily behind a Zabrak teen and couldn't help but notice the healing injuries on the kid's head as well as those cracked and broken horns on the left side of his head. Did he get those from training gone awry? A mission perhaps? Should he ask the younger male, start a conversation, perhaps?

Knight Vicar's arrival put a halt to Arctus's attempt at friendliness and the former smuggler was promptly reminded what they were supposed to be doing today. He had already undergone some tough and serious shite in the past, so where was this nervousness coming from? He'd been in the presence of a Sith (three, in all actuality – although he had no idea the first two were), so he shouldn't be feeling cowed by a trip to the forests of Yavin IV. The fact that he wouldn't be alone should already be a factor, but damn, being surrounded by and working with people who knew how to utilize the Force were definitely a first to him.

"Er, y-yeah! I'm looking forward to what you have in store for us, sir!" Arctus answered, half-reluctant and -enthusiastic. Holstered and strapped to his sides were his trusty pair of DL-18 Blaster Pistols. One vibroblade was tucked in one boot, and an A280 Blaster Rifle was slung on his back. He didn't know if carrying the arsenal he usually used would be overkill, but who knew what lurked in the forest beyond? The former smuggler hadn't read anything informational about Yavin IV, and he suddenly felt like an idiot for neglecting to do so.

Guess he'd just have to find out what the jungle moon and the Jedi Knight leading them had in store for him, huh?
