Were the Jedi that Blinded? Or Palpatine that Good?

Watch Palpatine's over dramatic pleas for mercy and his eyes shifting as Anakin and Mace are arguing. That will settle any argument as to whether Mace beat Palpatine. Based on Palpatine's mannerisms and actions during that scene, it's pretty obvious he let Mace beat him.

Exactly.

If Palpatine would have murdered Mace, it would have given Anakin the opportunity to attack Samuel Jackson and bring him into the dark side.

God.

...wth. I'm sorry, but this post seems like three different sentences starting and stopping altogether at once. I believe what you mean is:

If Palpatine had killed Mace, it would have made Anakin's turning (theoretically) more difficult.

Alternatively, we have what happened.

P.S. If that isn't what you meant, then I have no idea whatsoever you were trying to say.:CGape

Palpatine was probably way better with a blade than Mace anyway. As a Dark lord of the Sith against a council member, who isn't even the best with a blade in the order.

Especially as he dickslapped two other council members within three seconds beforehand.

I dunno, if Mace wasn't such a pansy at the end there he could've gotten him. Didn't sit there and talk to Anakin, just stick the old dude.

It is a bit silly he waits for Anakin to agree with it. Once again, it's a "oh, wait, we can't let him die after all" moment. Canon is :bitchezed in the head these days, so everyone is living or dying by random chance now.

Mace Windu is widely known as one of the best, if not the best, lightsaber combatant at that time period and a whole lot of people debate who would have won if Anakin hadn't stepped in. I feel that Windu was winning slightly before Anakin got there then lost on purpose to further his fall to the darkside by acting like a weak old man.

100% agree on the Mace Windu as best swordfighter

but didn't you mean palpatine "lost on purpose to further his fall to the darkside by acting like a weak old man" ??

I'm pretty sure Palpatine let him win. Because if Palpatine struck down a Jedi in front of Anakin well Anakin was still struggling to choose sides...it could of backfired. He needed Anakin to choose him over the "big bad Jedi" who would of killed him rather then showed mercy like Jedi where suppose too. It also showed some of the backwardness of the Jedi in the Order.

Best AT JUYO/ VAPAAD.

The best all rounder would be the battlemaster at the time.

I believe Mace Windu was really that good. I was really dissapointed at how the other council members died, like Kit Fisto and the others, that made them look lame

They even suspected Palpatine. In one of the Republic comics they were going to have him tested for Force Sensitivity- if he was positive they'd have investigated. Coincidentally, the Jedi in charge of that program died.

Only thing is, I've never read the Republic comics.

There are hints towards the suspicion of Palpatine's Force sensitivity in the movies - in AOTC, while Palpatine is meeting with the Council and Padme for example. Note how Palpatine finishes Padme's sentance and Yoda's frown in the following shot. Finishing people's sentances is one of the oldest traits of Force sensitivity in the book.
