Nar Shaddaa, the Infamous moon of Nal Hutta. Not the kind of place one would expect a police officer to be, but here he was, Fenix Morgan, Corellian detective was sitting at a bar on one of the most notorious worlds that ever came out of Hutt Space. How he got here, he didn't actually know, drinking was involved, that was apparent from the raging hangover he was feeling and the smell of booze on his shirt. Quite often, waking up on a strange world that has a very good chance at killing you is a good enough reason to quit drinking. In Fenix's case, it was the perfect reason to keep drinking.

Lighting a Cigarette as he wandered through the megalopolis that was the moon of Nar Shaddaa, Fenix did his best to shield his eyes from the oppressive neon lights of the various shops and establishments that pervaded almost ever inch of the world. The noise didn't help much, the constant crowding and bumping into other beings just made his headache worse. The cigarette, thankfully helping to calm him down and lessen the headache somewhat was burning out.

He wandered into a quieter establishment, just to get out of the crowd for a few moments. And with bloodshot eyes surveyed the dive bar he hadn't particularly wanted to enter. A few aliens stared at him as he stood next to the door, prompting him to glare right back in a challenge. Thankfully none of the patrons were drunk enough yet to get up and actually fight, but Fenix was well past that when he saw the bartender serving drinks. His headache forgotten, he wandered over to the bar and took a seat on one of the swivelling stools before ordering with a slightly gravelly voice tinged with the easily recognisable Corellian accent "Corellian Whisky, double."

For such a decadent place filled with a lot of the galaxy's scum, day-to-day life on Nar Shaddaa's pretty boring, or at least it is Jack Lawson. Beggar's fighting other beggars on the streets for a poultry five credits? Jack Lawson simply continued on his way to his destination without turning an eye.

Jack Lawson went inside the building. Once he did, he his eyes were on the bartender. As the alien patrons did with the Corellian before him, they gave the well-dressed Hutt Cartel slicer odd states as well, but Lawson didn't pay them any heed whatsoever. He sat down on one of the swiveling stools, next to another patron (@Fenix Morgan), moments after the latter ordered hs drink. With his eyes locked on the bartender, he then places his order. "Corellian Brandy, if you would" he said. Being born and raised on Corellia himself, he would also have an corellian accent, although it isn't that strong, it's still there. He then turned his head slightly, giving the person next to him a brief look, but refraining from saying anything before he has his eyes aimed forward again.

Barely registering the well dressed man sitting down next to him, Fenix was to preoccupied looking longingly at the glass that was placed right between his hands. Seeming to have an internal debate with himself about whether or not to drink the whiskey, instead electing to simply hold the glass. He grabs the cigarette out of his mouth with his thumb and index finger, blowing the smoke out of his mouth as he turned to address the man who had just sat down next to him. He looked up the bar, there were plenty of free seats, identifying the bar as somewhere that didn't get much business. Looking around at the main floor of the fine establishment he found himself in, there were plenty of free tables.

"Can I help you?" He basically growls out, before sticking his cigarette back in his mouth. The guy didn't look like much, had a fancy shirt, some glasses and a punchable smirk. Maybe he knows how Fenix got to Nar Shaddaa, but more likely than not, he didn't and just wanted to bug the poor policeman.

The smartly dressed man heard the policeman's question loud and clear. He sensed the irritationin his voice, but Jack Lawson did not care. Lawson then answered, but not before he turns around attempting to make eye contact with his fellow Corellian native. "Probably not." he bluntly said. Jack Lawson did not mind the smell of the cigarette smell, in fact, compared to a lot of places in Nar Shaddaa, the cigarette smell is a relief. The bartender then put do a glass on the counter, and then filled it with Corellian brandy, just as Lawson requested. Lawson would then put his hands on the glass and then take his first drink. It tasted... alright he guesses. He didn't say anything else to the Corellian policeman, he kept his eyes focused forward after.

Fenix squinted at the man, he didn't know what to think. Was he being setup for something? Was this some kind of elaborate ruse? Probably not, a much more realistic answer would be that this man simply didn't care where he sat. He sighed, before shrugging. The hint of Corellian accent present in the man ignited a mix of emotions in the police officer. He was well aware that the natural independence that pervades almost every Corellian has led some to seedier parts of the galaxy, acting as smugglers or mercenaries. It hurt Fenix's pride in his world to consider that there were Corellians present on Nar Shaddaa or anywhere in Hutt space by choice. But then again who was he to talk, unless his kidneys have been stolen he must have come here for some reason, he just can't remember what it was.

"Fine, so what are you doing on Nar Shaddaa?" Having nothing better to do, except look longingly at the forlorn glass in his hands Fenix figures he might make some small talk with the person he considers his punchable peer. Who knows, maybe he can sway his mind and get him back to Corellia, where Corellians be

"This and that." he responded to his fellow Corellian. Of course, no matter if his new acquaintances is a Corellian, is still not really any of his business of course. Hence, why Jack Lawson responded the way he did. The Hutt Cartel slicer then take another drink of his glass. After putting his glass down, he then addresses his compatriot, with his view still forward not moving his head. "Same could be asked of you, sir. What brings you to Nar Shaddaa?" Maybe if he explained himself, maybe, just maybe Lawson might give a better answer as why he is settled on the Smuggler's Moon. Lawson then takes his drink and then takes a sip of it once more.

Booze was the easiest answer, but it might not be too great of an idea to let it slip that he didn't know how he got here or how he was leaving the smugglers moon. Instead, Fenix just made a face full of derision and mocking while copying the tone of the smug Corellian "This and that." A certain degree of smugness was a mandatory trait for all Corellian's, but whatever drugs Fenix had ingested during his inter planetary bender had made him irrationally angry at the man sitting next to him.

They sat in an awkward silence for a few minutes, or at least Fenix thought it was awkward. His cigarette had long since burned out, and in a conscious effort to not look like he was a chain smoker, no matter how true that was, Fenix didn't light another. Instead letting the last of the smoke stick burn away. "So what do you do? Seem might sure of yourself, whats the deal?" Asking more to pass the time than anything resembling friendly interest, Fenix all but holds himself back from biting out the words.

Clever he is, Jack Lawson chuckled as his new aquiantance turned his own words on him. That was probably the most interesting thing he could have done in this otherwise boring conversation. Lawson wasn't helping in that department, but he finds it easier just to blame the other person. But, since he got him there, Lawson will concede and just answer his question. "If you must know, I work as an IT specialist, and i'm pretty good at it.". Lawson isn't lying exactly, infomation tech among other things is he does but for less-than-legal purposes. He sure isn't lying about him being good at it either. He isn't going to tell every person and their mother that he works as a slicer for the Hutt Cartel. Lawson then took one sip of his drink, it's running a bit dry. Now, maybe now his conversational partner might tell him a little about himself. "What say you now?" He asked. It's only fair.

"I'm a cop." Try that one on for size. The words were out of his mouth before he could tame the overwhelming urge to see the man's reaction to his chosen vocation. His statement turned some heads, which Fenix promptly glared back at. "And I'm pretty good at it." Now he was just being a child, but it felt good to be angry, and so far the so called IT specialist was the only target he had.

It was quite obvious there was more to the guys job than just being an IT tech, though that wasn't hard to determine, no one comes to Nar Shaddaa for the tech opportunities. "Off duty, of course. So say whatever you want, I won't arrest you." He speaks the first sentence with a quiet sigh, before attempting a smile as he straightens his back to look over at the IT professional.

Just when he thought the conversation was going to go back getting boring, it keeps on going better and better. Maybe he underestimated his fellow Corellian compatriot. The cop has earned a mix of a chuckle with and a smirk from Jack Lawson. Jack Lawson then turns his head towards Fenix and replies back. "Okay Mr. Policeman, I might have an unpaid traffic ticket for driving over the speedlimit on Corellia. Very heinous I know, but I guess you can't do anything about it since you are off duty, right?" he then nods his head and then smiles in approval of his own words as he went for the sarcastic approach. Of course, that's not what he's really is really wanted for on Corellia. Now, how will this battle of wits continue to unfold...

"Right." It was good that the guy was actually talking, it made him significantly less punchable. Fenix was used to leading conversations, it was a necessary skill during interrogation and undercover operations. However, this was neither of those situations, and he couldn't help but feel a little lost. The guy wasn't offering anything, not even asking question that could lead to conversation leaving Fenix to wonder if this was actually something the guy wanted, or if he just wanted to be left alone to his drink. But he wouldn't have sat down next to the policeman had he wanted a quiet evening.

"So whats the most interesting thing you've seen on Nar Shaddaa? Must be at least one interesting story from the smugglers moon."

"Bartender, another another glass of Corellian Brandy, if you would" He abruptly asked the bartender right policeman finished, as Jack Lawson's glass ran completely dry. He left the glass on the counter for the bartender to get it at his convenience, along with some credits so the plebeian gets paid for services rendered today. Now he turns his attention to the cop. He strokes on his chin, pretending to entertain his question for a second or two. "Hmmmm" he sounds.. "Besides beggars, Hutt Cartel thugs, the smell of spice, and rampart crime, there really much interesting to Nar Shaddaa. It's just another crime filled city, but big."

Just Lawson finished, a trio of three individuals then come through bursting through the door. In a triangle formation, a Duros wearing armor alongside 2 Aqualish people beside him, looking like and armed like body guards, with their blaster pistols in hand. The trio then comes towards the bar, stopping at a good distance from the bar. The Duros then has some words for the bar tender. "Hey Tarth" the bartender's name. "Did you forget that you were due to pay our protection money yesterday? Do I have to come jog your memory?" he threatened the bartender. "If you don't have my money now, then you sure don't have any money for your medical bills" Lawson then turns around at the scene unfolding, cringing.
