Denon - Office of Governor Beto Lenk
The large bits of fighting were over, but there was still no small amount of chaos in the streets. Small skirmishes still broke out in pockets of the planet and while they likely wouldn't affect the overall outcome of the war much, they served to continue destabilizing the area. Even now, political opponents, criminals, mercenaries, and Sith forces moved against the political leaders of Denon.

With anti-force user sentiments high, the Jedi needed any way to help boost the trust of Denon's leaders. That is why the Jedi had been called to the office of Beto Lenk. The initial report indicated someone, likely one of Lenk's political opponents had Lenk's family kidnapped in the chaos of the battle.

Soren and a small group of Jedi had been tasked with finding out what he could and help recover the man's family if at all possible. He lowed his hood as he stepped inside, a whole squad of soldiers was at the door, building still barricaded from the fighting of the past days. Just down the street, a speeder still lay smoldering, its black smoke rising to meet the the smoke of a million other fires.

"My name is Soren Rel. I have an appointment to meet with Govenor Lenk." he said to one of the soldiers who approached him. The man glanced down at the Jedi's lightsaber and snarled slightly. Soren thought the man about to ask for his lightsaber but they were led to elevator.

Although this was his first warzone, Miyamoto had experienced much of the same feelings the population now faced throughout his life. Fear, anger, sorrow, emptiness, none of them good and none which could truly help you through those tough times. Even as the reminders of his past were evident on every street corner he passed, the young Padawan was happy to be on Denon, away from Yavin which had at times felt like a prison to him.

It was his first official outing as a member of the Jedi Order, before this it had all been lectures and training seminars, before that, well that's best left buried deep in his mind. He wore a long coat over his normal shirt and trousers, a small hood covering his face, something the Jedi seemed to always be doing in the Core. The Padawan hadn’t experienced the mistrust in Force Users that the Republic and Free Worlds people had. So the snarling guard at the front door when all they were looking to do was help took him aback.

“I’m with him.” Miyamoto said, pointing towards the Jedi Knight who had just gotten past the cordon. The snarl stayed put on his face as the guard waved him through. Moving rather quickly he moved up alongside Soren Rel. “Friendly bunch.”

Soren stepped onto the elevator, trailed by a Padawan who had not caught the eye of the grouchy guard. The doors began to close and Soren smirked at the Padawan's comment. "They didn't shoot you, I suppose it could be worse." he replied. Soren knew the names of all the Jedi who had joined him on this mission but had not personally met this particular Padawan before.

"Nervous?" he asked the younger Jedi. Soren understood it was his first actual mission with the Order though he knew little else of his background. "A warzone is not the easiest of places to first spread your wings." he added as the elevator neared the top.

The sound of a distant explosion sounded and short burst of blaster fire followed. This was the soundscape the citizen's had become accustomed to over the last months. Soren had seen kid's not even stop playing at the sound of fighting the previous day. The amount of pain Denon's people had endured broke Soren's heart.

The elevator dinged quietly and they stepped out into the hallway outside of the Governor's office. The man's door was open and he quickly paced back and forth inside, biting at a finger nail. The man was clearly distressed, for obvious reasons. They were ushered into the office, doors closing behind them. Soren bowed slightly "Governor Lenk." he said in greeting. "I am Jedi Knight Soren Rel, and this is Padawan Koji. We are here to help you and your family in any way that we can." he said.

“I could deal with a blaster easier.” He mumbled to the Knight as he entered the elevator positioning himself next to the door. As they closed he spotted an explosion in the distance, was it Sith, Republic or just another terrorist taking advantage of the situation? Miyamoto turned to look at the Jedi. “No nerves, just.” He paused, struggling how to put his feelings into words. The young Padawan had seen more combat throughout his life than most in the order, having spent almost eleven years being trained to be nothing but a weapon. So he had no fear of death or pain, what he did dear was how he could deal with that.

A decade of training telling him to use those emotions to enact his will, was kind of hard to reprogram with a few wishy washy lectures and meditating around a fancy stone. “It's hard to see who the true enemies are here.” He replied, though Soren may think it sounded wise and prophetic considering the nature of the planet, he was genuinely just referring to himself.

The elevator slowed and shaked slightly as it reached the relevant level. Miyamoto left the elevator first, subconsciously checking the coast was clear before letting Soren take the lead into the Governor's office. Miyamoto followed Soren’s lead and gave the Governor a small bow. “Governor Lenk.”

The man turned from his pacing to face the pair. “Good finally someone who can do something about this.” He was exasperated for sure, his arms flinging around as he spoke. “I have paid half a dozen mercs and nothing.”

Soren raised an eyebrow and glanced over at the Padawan as the elevator creaked upward. "I supposed I worried for nothing then." he said somewhat playfully. The fact was Jedi got killed by blasters all the time, they had on Denon and they did all over the Galaxy. It was dangerous to underestimate a desperate person with a blaster, not matter how trained with the Force and blade someone was, but he resisted the classic Jedi urge to lecture.

He nodded at the Padawan's more introspective comment but held a reply as they exited the elevator.

"We will certainly do our best to locate your family." he said, careful not to make promises. "If this was done to get you, its likely they will be used to pressure you in some way. That means they are likely still in relative safety and on world." he reassured the pacing governor.

"I would like to see whatever footage you have of the incident, if possible. Any clue might help us get going in the right direction." he requested. They were given access to the Governor's home security feed for the time in question. "You don't have the watch this with us." he offered to the Governor. "I am sure its not easy to watch." Soren added. "No, I want to watch. I need to." the Governor firmly stated.

Yesterday evening a speeder pulled up and a group of about six went into the house, coming out a few moments later, each carrying a family member. One of the figures being dragged fought her assailant, ripping one of his sleeves as she pulled away. She was promptly knocked out causing the Governor to gasp slightly.

"Hrrm. Curious. Play back to when his sleeve was torn." he said, the footage rolled back and Soren zoomed in the man's arm. A faintly glowing tattoo was visible. "Those symbols mean anything to either of you?" he said the Governor and the Padawan. Soren had never seen a tattoo with glowing ink before.
