What would be the best way to establish my character's first thread?

As the topic says, I'm curious as to what kind of thread should be my character's first post.
Should I go fora social type thread or a mission type thread?
Would a structured thread be the best or unstructured?

I want him to gain rapport with comrades but I also want him to gain rapport with the Sith Empire as a whole.

I'm looking for pros and cons to both types of threads to help me make my decision. Thanks in advance!

You could always do an Open thread in a specified, Imperial-only bar somewhere. Allows for a greater variety for you to meet with your fellow Empire, although personally, it tends to leave people either third-wheeling, up until the thread randomly dies (depending on the participants).

And in my honest opinion, I prefer structured threads. Maybe missions, to build up both relationships and simultaneously contribute to the Empire.

Or, y'know, we could always thread ourselves sometime. I got an Imperial asshole who could always use another friend or two.

Any particular thing in mind?
Is there perhaps somewhere that we could destroy an opposing factions' installation?
Something that doesn't necessarily poke the bear too hard? Where enemies could be possible npcs?

In all seriousness though, another good way of getting started in RP would be to sign up in one of the mission threads with your faction. That's how I got started with my first char!

Where would I find this? I looked for a place where missions may be posted, but I guess I'm just not to terribly good at navigating this site.

If you're accepted into the Sith Empire (which I believe you are), then you should be able to access the Imperial High Command section of the Sith Empire board. If you're not, then just click "Request Membership" and it'll be granted soon afterward. In that board is a list of threads and what we call Mission Packs that you can join with your character and write out in RP as long as there's space. Just pick a mission that you'd like to do and that's still open for people to join and sign up with your character!

OOOOH, that seems to be the problem. I thought that board was a place for administrative or faction leader roundtables or something to that effect. Sweet!

Hmm, well I don't have any Empire characters but I could join in with my indie. What I might suggest other than an actual mission, however, would be a social thread at a pub or something like that. If you'd really like to do a mission though I can do an opening post and we can continue from there.

Yeah, to be honest I don't really like the idea of social threads considering what I've been reading on site and what I intend to do with my character.
The planet I chose seemed to be fairly un-touched as far as main story threads go. I don't think it'll be a problem.
If you do want to do the opening thread that would be cool, but know that I'm going to be trying to blow shit up and kill a bunch of things. If there's a way you'd want to ally with us then that would be cool. Perhaps be our guide to the underground? Isyour character very indana jones-esque? Haha.

Well, take a look at either Lucius or Vosrik in my signature. Either I could use Vosrik (my ex-Jedi Lord) as opposition or Lucius as a random neutral party.

Now I have a feeling I just need Sith or Imperial in the party.

Then we could turn on the townspeople and blow them to bits or organize a coalition against the Jedi support parties.

He might not be so interested in destroying the village simply to help the Sith, but he could be intrigued by those he meets. Now before you use any Jedi...technically you're not allowed to use any Jedi NPCs in the thread unless you receive explicit approval to do so by the Jedi leadership. If there was going to be Jedi opposition, then they'd likely want it to be an Open thread as well (allowing PvP), so I might suggest simply leaving out any Jedi involvement at all.

If the planet is in neutral territory, just make the Empire fighting local militia troops instead of Jedi. Having NPCs from another main faction just adds a complication that we really don't need for a simple thread like this :p
