Eddard and Demolly might very well be a bit of an odd couple when it came to allies in a venture but when they both stood to gain from it? Well, they were both practical people, even if Demolly probably wasn't entirely convinced that Eddard wasn't just going to throw her to the wolves and let her father know where she was.

He wasn't though - she was rather good at what she did and rather useful to have around. And, he supposed, she was rather pleasant company as well. Today they were going to be attending a small meeting with a small-time slicer at a local holonet cafe.

Dressed in casual clothes, Eddard had one of his lightsabers strapped along his spine and a blaster pistol strapped to his outer left thigh. He felt more like a smuggler than a slicer but, apparently, this was what slicers were wearing these days - he imagined it was because slicers these days were a lot more about slicing things on jobs out and about rather than in some stuffy room.

He glanced at Demolly as they approached.

"Ready for this?"

He was sure that she was though - it was more to break the silence than to actually question if she was ready. If the silence was broken they would seem more naturally when they approached the slicer they were going to be meeting with. Entering the cafe, it seemed that the slicer had not yet arrived.

They had time to prepare.

It felt odd traveling with Eddard, so Demolly had chosen to remain quiet for the most part. She still wasn't entirely convinced that he wouldn't get into a bad mood, change his mind and decide to tell her father where she was. It was probably for the best to be wary either way; of him and of everyone in this Force forsaken galaxy.

She hadn't changed her outfit for this mission, since she already looked like a plebeian. A long pink sweater that obfuscated her weapons, black leggings and a black skirt. No armor, no regalia of any sort. The only thing she changed was her hair style; it was tied into two braids. The crimson braids hung loosely over her shoulders, framing her face. She hadn't braided them to sell some sort of act or anything, the mood had just struck her.

Her eyes flicked to Eddard when he spoke, though she only replied with a short nod before they entered the cafe. The moment they did the smell of coffee hit her nose, causing her to breath in and out with a happy sigh. "It's been so long since I had a nice cup."

She moved to the counter and ordered, "One small cup of black coffee and, uh, whatever this weirdo wants too." She looked at Eddard with a smirk before looking back at the barista. "Oh!" Demolly nearly gasped when one of her favorite sweets caught her eye. "and I'll take that walnut chocolate muffin."

The young Sith was so absorbed with ordering that she barely registered three men entering the cafe, who all took a seat in the corner where the meeting was meant to take place. Once she turned around, however, she certainly did register them. She didn't look over to Eddard though she assumed he'd be able to sense her sudden change in mood; from mindless happy to slightly annoyed. Three men made things a little more complicated, especially if they needed to resort to a more... aggressive conversation. None of them looked like they had weapons on them, but that meant nothing.

Coffee had never been something that Eddard had ever developed a taste for but he knew that it was something that a lot of people tended to like, for some bizarre reason. He went up to the counter with Demolly mainly because it would look odd for him to be in a cafe and not buy anything. She seemed to be rather enthused about having a coffee it had to be said and her enthusiasm was kind of amusing in an endearing kind of way. He hummed a little bit.

"I'll try a Tanaab Toffee Late." he ordered before nodding along with Demolly, "And yes, we'll take the walnut chocolate muffin as well."

He paid with his own credits, giving his drink an experimental sip before humming. The flavours made the bitter coffee taste quite a bit better it had to be said - maybe he would drink coffee more often now that he knew that for certain. He sipped his coffee a little bit more as he picked up on the trio of men who had entered.

This already didn't bone well considering the slicer was supposed to arrive alone.

But they could work with this. It wasn't like three slicers were much of a problem for two trained Sith but it might be harder to go for a peaceful option if the slicers were already expecting something. He wandered on over with Demolly following and sat himself down on the opposite side of the table to them.

Time to break the ice and get the ball rolling.

"Hi, I'm Endor and this is Dxun." he greeted them using the 'slicer nicknames' they had agreed on before the meeting, "You didn't think you needed extra security just for us did you?"

The lead slicer smirked a little bit to begin with before laughing happily,

"Who these two? They're just worried about me is all. I have brittle bones." he explained before humming and turning to Demolly, "So how did you meet Endor then, Dxun?"

Following after Eddard, Demolly took a seat beside him. The slicers answer didn't make her feel any better, but she was able to keep up her facade of cool. Not that she thought they'd lose a fight if one broke out, but she wasn't interested in causing a scene if it could be avoided. Especially not with her father still looking for her. Maybe... maybe she should deal with that somehow so it wasn't a constant issue on her mind. That was, however, a thought for another time.

Her green eyes snapped to the slicer when he spoke. She raised her eyebrow at his question, but she'd planned an answer for this situation. "Well you see," she began, looking over to Eddard for a second. "Endor had got his dick stuck in a fan one evening while jerking it to Jawa's, and he thought it was a funny story to post on some forum."

She flashed a smile at him then looked back, "I stumbled across the post, we insulted one another and well... things spiraled out of control while we tried to mess with one another." The young "slicer" shrugged. "In the end, once we met up in person, we didn't mind each other. Eventually we did a job together and it just stuck."

All three men paused for a few seconds before bursting out in laughter. All of them found the story amusing, but it was clear the leader didn't completely buy the it. "Dick in a fan huh?" he shook his head. He didn't buy the story completely, but the part of messing with one another via slicing made sense at least. Either way, he became a little wary of the pair. "And what jobs have you two done together?" Tell me you're worth my time here, he thought.

Could be going worse but it could also be going better. At the very least, Demolly had come up with an amusing story, though he didn't want to have to admit to having had any part in such a story. But the man looked to be doubting the whole thing so Eddard was going to have to do something he never normally would consider.

He was going to have to act the fool.

"She's telling the truth." he declared with a put upon sigh, "I mean, the instructions were confusing okay and it was one time. Just one time!"

Again, the main slicer paused before laughing, his friends joining in. With the tension and doubt defused by him acting the part, Eddard smiled a little bit and passed a prepared datapad over to the slicer.

"Those are some of the slicing jobs we've done together." he declared with a small smirk, "We got paid some decent credits by the spooks to do some of their dirty work for them. Both sides."

Indeed, the datapad contained several slicing jobs that were done by internal slicers within Imperial Intelligence so there wasn't any risk of the jobs being done by people the man actually already knew.

In the end, it turned out to just be that simple and the man nodded as he read along before passing the datapad back with the address that they would actually need.
