With Friends Like These

1) What is going to happen in your plot?
After having met with Alexina Starcloud in Encounters of an Alien Nature, Pinkerton was spurred to go against her thoughts of city-planets and move shop to Nar Shaddaa. After an uneventful move, Pinkerton meets with Blythe, having been connected through Alexina. Through talks and negotiations, Pinkerton works to elevate her business through her production means by tying deals with the Toasted Twilek and its growing assets, by any means necessary.

2) What other players will be a part of this?
  • Possibly more.

3) Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?
  • Ari Pinkerton’s Nar Shaddaa base.

4) Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.
  • First Thread: Pinkerton meets with Blythe in Pinkerton’s house upon moving to Nar Shaddaa. Rather than jumping straight into deals, the two converse and measure each other up on how they can approach one another.
  • Second Thread: Pinkerton and Blythe meet in the Toasted Twilek to sign Pinkerton’s contract, as well as solidify the deal into something profitable.
  • Third Thread: Blythe and Pinkerton have placed out interviews on potential employees for Pinkerton’s work, and push to gather the right hands for the job.

5) What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?
Pinkerton is not wealthy enough to afford the innovations she wishes to make or to afford new machines to both hasten her process and to make a larger variety of things. By dealing with a larger, more wealthy group, she can afford to do both, making strides towards larger profit, at any cost.

6) Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.
No.

Hey there @Jabonicus!

This seems like a plot submission that not only helps your character but also helps out the Toasted Twi’lek. The nature of this mutual partnership means there needs to be some kind of opposition to the potential completion of the deal. Otherwise it’s just the TT getting a weapons manufacturer and your character getting access to a lot of new stuff without much difficulty.

Now, I understand that you likely don’t want this to involve combat. I’ll stress that is totally fine. Opposition does not always equal combat. A DM needs to be involved in thread 3. That DM needs to be a plot mod. You can decide who you want.

Based on the requested “reward” I’m waffling on if this needs to be 4 threads. I think it’s fine to leave at 3 and we will cross that bridge during evaluation at submission.

Thanks!

When I wrote this I was talking very closely with Dread on the merits and aspects of it, and had him assist me in making it. It does assist the Toasted Twilek- At the cost of their own budget. Everything gained is from the budget of the Toasted Twilek at the risk of having it returned through later profits. Pinkerton has almost nothing, a few machines she needs to work by hand, and with almost no automation and no workers. What was discussed is that Pinkerton loses all ownership of her own product and company, though she retains the authority of running it still.

Personally I heavily disagree on the necessity of a third party interfering with conflict, as quite simply this is a plot between a level 1 group and its people dealing with one extra level one person. It feels unnecessarily restrictive, but I will not fight you on that beyond voicing my opinion.

Quite frankly I don't see how conflict can even occur from a third party. The deal is between Pinkerton and The Toasted Twilek. I will note that I am adamantly opposed to combat/PvP being shoehorned into this plot which otherwise does not require it. Quite simply I do not want to RP combat, especially in a plot designed to lack it. Do you have any suggestions on what form of conflict you would want in this plot? As quite simply I don't see what could justify a plot mod of all third parties.

Combat is not necessary for this plot submission. As explicitly stated above, opposition does not always equal violence or combat. A plot mod DM will be required for the third thread. The DM will not be introducing any combat element into the thread. Please post here when the third thread is up or if you no longer wish to pursue the plot. These are the requirements we are imposing because there are significant benefits to be gained by both sides.

In the future, please keep your personal opinions on the plot system out of this particular section. This is not the appropriate forum to have those concerns addressed.

Neither Dread or I feel very comfortable going blind into opposition, even with the promise of no combat. Dread has explicitly told me she will find a replacement for her in the plot if we are to go in blind. A lot can go wrong there, and we'd like to know what it could entail. PvP and combat has the risks and expectations laid out, and we'd prefer the same for PvE, even if no combat is involved. Could you please give us some form of description of what kind of conflict will occur in the thread?

An explanation was already provided above and the conditions for approval were outlined. We do not give specifics for threads involving DM-ed combat. The same standards apply here.

For the foregoing reasons this plot has been REJECTED.
