Unfortunately, this is nothing new. This is religious law. It's what happens when you decide to literally follow Bronze Age beliefs.

Outrageous, it's always upsetting to see members of the same species acting in ways such as this.

I could appreciate a local police service being possessed with the stupidity to act like that, but the national government should have stepped in and intervened. :/

It makes me sad to know that such narrowheaded and pointless people still exist in this world. What a shame.

Nothing new these days, but surprisingly most of the Islmaic law that we know of is actually not the original intention of the script. So glad I will never step foot over there, unless it's in Jordon.

When you say "original intention of the script", what script are you speaking of?

Token Norwegian outrage.

Here's hoping my country's foreign diplomats can get this woman returned home... though it's not likely.

And what do you define as "original?"

I don't really know if the text has been modified all that much so I state originally written just to be sure. I only have a small understanding of the book itself through my history classes back in the day when I studied the progression of Islam to the modern era.

So, would you agree with the statement, "You do not have sufficient knowledge to comment on matters such as these."?

Nope, if I do not have knowledge at the moment I will go out and get it. I just don't think I will have the time to go about and do so in a thread that is probably going to move as fast as this one.

Also, as a woman I feel I have the right to comment anyway.:CSly

The Quran wasn't edited at any point along the history, the Quran today is the original of the one which was put together roughly 1300-1400 years ago. As much as I know.

This is not merely the blind follow of the religious orders, which Islam has none such as to support throwing an innocent woman in jail for basicly getting raped. It is ignorance. Lack of proper education and a failure to have the urge to bring justice, and corruption. The religion is not what causes the country to be backward, but how the people view and comment it, the narrowheaded traditions, and parts of culture. It was Islam that saved the girls, babies and woman from being burried alive back when it first came. The Arabic culture itself views the male side 'superior' over the female.

The Islam has nothing to do with this, and while I am not much of a religious person, as a muslim myself I am familiar enough with it to know what I am talking about.

While there are muslims who look at the Islam from the wrong perspective and act self-seeking, they are only a small minority.

Just to clear it up a bit, as I sense this is coming close to borderline offense, in my opinion.

Edit: Also, the Sheria Laws as Lan mentioned above. They are the main plague of the Islam, in my opinion, and probaly the main source of all bad things you have heard about the religion itself.

People like that will always exist in this world. Our job is to make sure there are as few as possible and those that stubbornly choose to be this way should never be allowed positions of power.

I guess that is the only thing you were able to make fun with? It is late in the night, and I was typing with the lights off.

My grammar is clearly not the best, but what I say is clear at worst.

Edit:

Agreed. People need to be sensitive. Otherwise, it is more than likely that we encounter shameful things such as this.

I wasn't laughing at your spelling or grammar or word choice, nor anything like that. Your writing is much better than most English-born speakers. I was just laughing at the message that they conveyed, that being that there is a "correct" way to look at the Qur'an.
