Yep, I first encountered Star Wars NOT by watching the movies (although I've watched them since) but through a vidya. Been hooked since. Funnily enough, for all my years as a SW fanatic, I've never been a part of a Star Wars roleplay before. Other fandoms sure, but RPing in this Galaxy Far, Far Away? FIIIIIIIIIIIIIRST. Plausible I would say. I'd err on the side of caution and create a write up for it in our tech boards, though. Judging from what I read on wookiepedia you could probably submit it as general tech, but if you're going to get fancy with the discs it may need a formal submission.
