Hello. Would anybody be able to give me some good advice?
My goal is to take my character and eventually work my way up to the royal guard faction here.
How would I go about doing this? Is it purely based off of the amount of roleplay threads that I complete? Does it have to do with who I roleplay with?
Any tips are welcome.

I don't really know that you'd want to have a clear cut goal for a character as a high ranking member of the sith empire. I went from an Acolyte to a Sith Lord because I thought it'd be a nice way of development for the character when an opportunity came up with the timeskip after she became a marauder. You should just write your character and see where things go. Having a long term goal that you're set on achieving in rp can limit your roleplay as that character and generally make things no fun.

The best way to gain power and prestige for a character and climb up the ranks is to be active within the faction. Participate in missions, in battles when they become available, stuff like that.

^What these two said basically. I don't think Royal Guard is an actual rank within the Empire but you're free to explore the topic as you rp, as @Kuroshi said though usually it can be good fun to just make a character and immerse yourself in the faction to get involved and meet other members. We don't bite, I swear. Mission packs come around on a semi-regular basis and hopping in an Ask Mission will give you some good exposure. Just remember to have fun tho and butcher the jedi scum. Go Navy beat Army.

Yeah...I was happy being a normal sith until one of my characters earned it. If it is the IC desire to reach that rank then that character would put forth the effort. If not then it's best to not want to be a high ranking member but still be a lazy bum when it comes to rps.

It is a rank that is achievable, as I understand it, it's similar to becoming a Darth, and can be applied for. I'll tag @Malon to clarify on this a bit more.

These two best exemplify my opinion on how to rank up within the Faction.

If you think your character would be a fit for the Dark Honor Guard, and that's the goal that you want to shoot for within your character's story, then taking part in Legion missions is the best way to do so—as the Honor Guard is a sub-sect of the Imperial Legion. Do missions, fight battles, be active in the RP; more importantly, do RPs that advance the story of your character, even if those are personal RPs with other players on the site and not Sith missions.

When you think your character has reached that point in their story, PM me and we'll talk further about advancement.

I find that it's always a difficult thing for me to not meticulously plan out everything my character goes through, put him on a set path and watch it happen from there. As a person that's not good with just flying by the seat of his pants, it all just seems like at any moment my general goal for my character could go off the rails and everything I wanted to accomplish with him is gonna go wayo ova the rainbow. I remember my first true RP experience, my first two characters died because of idiotic decisions I made and I guess I just hated that.

Basically, it's ok to let the RP happen, but in my opinion, don't be afraid to plan ahead a little, but try to do it in the headspace of your character. Me? I'm hoping to run my own faction at some point in time :) Here's hoping I can work my way up to that

The story is in the journey, not the destination. How you work your way up to Royal guard is entirely up to you.
