I've had two this week. One I just got back from was really good, lovely girl and seeing her again.

The one on Wednesday I had......

Was a blind date my girl mate set me up on with her friend....Yeah the bitch didn't tell me her friend was a ****ing nutcase. Started talking to me about how I seemed so lovely and very marriage like material after 20 mins.

Then to top it off she got off her tits on expensive wine then I had to ****ing pay for the cows wine! 100 quid and all I got was a snog.

Rubbish.

I did acid with a crazy french chick when I was at Sorbonne University in Paris, we met in a philosophy lecture and she liked my accent (I adored hers) so she invited me to a thing her friend was having, got there at one in the morning, was handed some acid and then proceeded to have one of the strangest experiences of my life.

Ended up barefoot drinking brandy beneath the Eiffel Tower which we thought was protecting us from...everything. It's all very hard to explain, but the whole thing was so surreal that we just never ended up talking again.

First blind double date I went on, and stands as the only date I been on, was going to effing Golden Corral, followed by Put put golf at the family fun center, and ended with drinks at McDonalds.

None of it was my idea, it was all planned out by the other couple.

But to respond to your OQ, no. Not really. I don't have one. I've been married for over a decade to the same person. Prior to that I didn't really date. The closest I came to a bad date was the time I woke up in the bed of my date. Slightly ill- probably from the meal the night before. Oh don’t go thinking…. Nothing happened. You see, Korean males are gentlemen!

Was there a girl (or dude --no judgment) with a style all her own who helped you out of an existential crisis? Was the soundtrack to that summer driven primarily by Pitchfork's "Best Of" round-up?

Hollow: I've had a bad ecstasy trip (try everything once, kids, except conservatism) but whenever I try recreational drugs (not really my thing) I just remember being hungry and sleepy. My trips are really boring.

OP: I had one first date. Well technically I guess two, since I did get asked out to a Sadie Hawkins dance back in Junior High. Neither were unpleasant experiences. The later one was the more lasting as for some reason I managed to bamboozle my wife into staying with me. We were chaperoned because her grandparents are rather traditional. Nothing really exceptional though. Now, we've had fun and disastrous dates subsequently, but never in that awkward and vulnerable place that is a first date.

I mean, **** me. Married life can have its ups and downs but the thought of getting back on the dating circuit seems like something out of Dante's Inferno to me. You brave souls have all my admiration.

In all seriousness though I've never had a bad date as it doesn't take much effort to turn a shit time into an awesome one. I did once have a first date turn into a pregnancy though. That was terrifying.

What's weird is that first date/scenario I mentioned, was like the opposite of an indie romance movie, I learned nothing except don't do acid and to learn more about the layout of Paris before trying to make it back to your apartment barefoot the next morning. If anything the whole thing was just terrifying.
