So I just moved out a couple of weeks ago, without access to my sis' 360. I never played it anyway since we didnt have an HD TV (Dead rising requires an HD... stupid game.) Now Im out among the world, and realized that my laptop, while really powerful, still can't play the newest stuff... (im looking at you bio-shock!) Im still deciding wether I should buy a 360... if I do, what games should I get? Heres a list of the ones I will definatly buy.

+ MASS EFFECT
+ BIOSHOCK
+ John Woo's STRONGHOLD
+ RAINBOW SIX VEGAS

Those are the only ones I truly want. Dead rising pissed me off. I already have Oblivion on my Laptop. another thing... I dont have a credit card, or a reliable connection, so Xbox Live isnt an option. Any ideas? OOh and if it helps Im buying the core system, Rent, bills, car payments, food, insurance these things require a cheap 360.

Well, i recomend buying a memory storage device or a memory card. But yes, you should buy one. Halo 3 is coming it in about 3 weeks, Gears of War is a great game, even without the death matches.

I played the demo on 360. Didn't seem to be all that good, of course it had no tutorial... I dunno, also they had too many options mapped out on so few buttons... .dunno

As for Gears of War, I don't like spending close to 60 for a few hours of gameplay. Hence why I like Oblivion so much. Mass Effect is prolly gonna pwn my work hours.....

A few hours is if you play on Casual. Trust me, you can spend longer if you play on Hardcore or Insane, with or without a friend on split screen Co-Op. But thats just my oppinions.

Though its good to see that Mass Effect intrests you. Thats prolly reason enough to get a 360. lol

Hey, Max payne 2 is awesome! so is Hard-boiled which is the prequel to Stranglehold, so I assumed it would be good.

Yes I have been watching Mass Effect for a long time, the races are fascinating, plus c'mon the game itself looks amazing. I can't count how many times I watched the E3 videos.....

Halo 3 wont be worth shit imo, if its anything like 2. I hated 2's singleplayer, and since I won't have live...... Unless singleplayer is drastically fixed.

As for gears of war, I played it once, on a friend's multiplayer. I took the controller after my friend died. I respawned... walked around a corner... and promptly took a chainsaw to the face. I kid you not.

Indeed, Gears of War is only quick if playing on Casual. If on Insane by yourself, it will take a very long time...unless, you're perfect at the game like me. lol. I joke.

anyway, Gears is mainly a game to buy only for teh multiplayer, not so much the story. The four multiplayer games will instantly get you hooked...as well as trying to get the Seriously Achievement...

As for Bioshock and Mass Effect, I would definitly look into buying those games if I were you. Although they don't have a multiplayer, they still are supposed to be good.

Skate also looks awsome...the controls are really supposed to be what sets it apart from the Tony Hawk games.

All I know about Oblivion, is that it's supposed to be awsome.

As for the other games mentioned, I wouldn't be too interested in getting them. But tis up to you.

First off if you can scrape enough money together I'd get an Xbox 360 Elite. It's supposed to have a better heating system than it's pale brethern plus the larger hard drive included. Plus, my personal opinion, the black looks much better and I don't know why Microsoft didn't go with this color scheme to begin with. Here is some more tips from me.

Well, I wouldn't leave out the Clancey titles. They are my personal favorites and most require you to think a bit about what you want to do and with only a few enemy bulets able to take you down it is a bit challenging even on medium level. But I've played all the games on the hardest and it is quite challenging. Except for Splinter Cell, who's hardest difficulty is basically normal difficulty but they start you off with no ammo, which if you play it like you are supposed to then you won't need it.

Halo 3 and Gears is mainly for the multiplayer with the Single player being more of a tutorial and practice with story. I admit I perfer Halo's story to Gears', but I still fail to see where Halo was at fault? Ya, the Arbiter was a bit lame and the crappy ending (finishing game as Arbiter and the spine crunching cliff hanger). Also I'd mention Call of Duty 4 but that is mainly going to be a multiplayer game aswell.

If you are a comic book fan I'd suggest Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Make sure it is the Gold Edition beacuse it has 8 additional characters and most of the bug fixes. I'd also recommend Spider-Man 3 but to most that is a rental only title. I however have loads of fun playing as the black suit and just beating the snot out of whoever seems to be bothering New York

Oblivion is a must as well as Bio Shock and most likely Mass Effect for those RPG enthusiasts. Which most people on this site of played KOTOR. Dead Rising, it has some RPG elements, is also a very nice title which is always good for a nice zombie skull smashing session, though Resident Evil 5 will be fullfilling my more intense needs (even though the series is now focused towards a non-zombie enemy now).

The Darkness is a rental title. Sure it is fun but for a shooter I found it rather boring. You are basically a puss without your powers which is reasonable since the biggest gimmick of the game is the powers but having to shoot out every light or being in the middle of a firefight and then moving forward only to find that your powers are now drained because you had been standing in the light for too long just felt depressing. Crackdown is awesome for a rental title. In the later stages of your character's evolution you basically feel like a superhero with a gun and some sweet rides. But you have to work for this and since you already have the freedom to do anything you want their seems to be a little to much freedom to the point that you aren't really motivated to do some of the story.

The Orange Box. This set includes all of Half-Life 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. You can't go wrong.

That was my 'little' advice post. I don't have Live either but have gotten some enjoyment out of all the above games that require it for a more intensive experience, but I still wouldn't mind being able to scrape some money together to get it.

The orange box I am getting for my PC....

:p

I hated Halo 2 for one reason. Play through halo one and you have all these massive areas with huge battles, and you can tackle them however you want. In halo 2 you cant do this, it felt like medal of honor, like a freakin maze. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a much better, extremely open ended game.... its also only for PC...

anyway.. yea Tom Clancy rocks. Splinter Cell is the shit, I love playing though without killing any1 but the mission required people... so much more challenging and fun.

I don't have an HD tv, so Dead Rising is out of the Question, if you don't have an HD TV the text in that game is unreadable... so basically its unplayable.

Call of Duty 4 doesnt excite me, its not looking like anything revolutionary... ooh now its in our time... whoopdie doo! so was Full Spectrum Warrior, and that was a strategy game! anyway...

I dunno, I may not get, Im thinking of just buying more RAM for my PC. It says I have 1024 on the box, but then when I play games it only has 826 or something like that, can some1 explain this to me? Either way Im buying another gig, I was just curious, why is the rest of the RAM unaccesible?

Yeah, I do admit that the huge battles were fun and I did miss them a little in Halo 2. I still play through the huge Covenant vs. Elite fight with only one Spartan for himself. The huge battles are supposed to make a comeback in Halo 3 and I've seen maybe two examples of what could be some rather large conflicts. My personal reason for why there weren't huge battles is because the time you spend on Earth, the Covvies are still in the early parts of the invasion on Earth. In Halo one the Covenant were already well entrenched on the ring world.

As for Dead Rising. I played through the entire game on an HD less screen. It ISN'T unplayable. They give you an arrow for where to go and you can select what objective you want it to follow. Other than that the text is quite hard to read but all you have to do is look a little bit, but I had to do that almost none of the time since I listened to the movie sequences which basically tell you what to do and saving survivors is pretty straight forward. Except for a few where the person is wounded or fat and can't walk well.

For those Oblivion fans who didn't have xbox live to download the content, there is a retail disc coming out in october for 20 bucks that features the downloadable content and Shivering Isles.

OMG yes. I am still playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Its soooooooooooooooooooo awesome. There is nothing like wandering through a nuclear wasteland, with a pistol, and two bullets, and a piece of bread, and about six of those invisible motherfuckers chasing your ass.

Ive decided NOT to buy a 360, as this laptop I am on, with exactly 512 more Ram, will be able to run Bioshock. And guess what? 512 SDRAM sticks, 25 bucks a pop at best buy. (on sale of course.)

OMG. YES.
